Shadowlands releases on WoW's 16th anniversary, November 23rd, 2020. This has led players to wonder if the anniversary experience buff, now up to a 16% increase, will be active at launch for Shadowlands leveling zones.
We know the event will certainly be active during Shadowlands launch--while it won't be as epic as
Wow's 15th anniversary
that lasted until January,

which boosts experience and reputation gains for the duration of the holiday. The amount granted reflects WoW's age, so for the 16th anniversary we're up to 16% experience and reputation gains. This is a really hefty amount of experience, so it's unclear if it will remain active in Shadowlands zones, as the buff could allow players to hit 60 without experiencing important story moments on their first playthrough.
