Ardenweald Sky
Marie worked on the skybox for Ardenweald - easily one of the most breathtaking skyboxes in the Shadowlands.
Ardenweald Overview
The skybox for Ardenweald, one of the five zones in Shadowlands. Like many of our skyboxes, this one is built out of many strips of geo that have textures scrolling along them.

Oribos & Revendreth Sky
Oribos's sky is quite incredible, especially the way the nebulas in the sky correspond with each zone of the Shadowlands. Marie was in charge of all versions of the black nebula of the Maw - which also appears in Revendreth's sky.
Oribos, the Eternal City
The sky for Oribos, the capital city of Shadowlands, was a real technical achievement for the expansion. This was the first time we used our skyscene tech that allows us to place elements of the sky in full 3D space so they will parallax as the player moves past them. It’s also the first time we used bone animation in part of the sky (typically sky animation is limited to scrolling textures).
Perceptive players will notice the nebulas in the sky correspond to the five zones of the Shadowlands. The black nebula that is the Maw also appears in the Revendreth sky and changes appearance at key points in the game; I was responsible for making and animating all its versions. I did not make the portals in the sky or the tower of Oribos itself.
This sky and the Maw were designed by my lead Tina Wang, whose art direction was invaluable during its development. Nice team effort on this one!

Marasmius
Night Fae Covenant members will recognize Marasmius from the Ardenweald transportation network.
Night Fae Circles and Marasmius Faction
From Wowhead: “Marasmius is a sentient mushroom that extends throughout Ardenweald, serving as the transport network for the Night Fae Covenant.” I did all the art for Marasmius from the concept to the animation. I don’t typically get to do animations so this was a fun guy to make (yes I went there.)

Caves
As Marie says, what is World of Warcraft without caves? The caves of Shadowlands are quite gorgeous, right from the very first one you enter in an early questline in Bastion.
The Story of Bastion
It wouldn’t be WoW without caves! I made the caves in Ardenweald and Bastion. Caves are tricky to make, they require multiple materials and UV sets to texture seamlessly. Making caves includes lighting them and propping them out with plants. Additional props are added later by level designers. Most of the textures in these caves were made by others but I did do the worm-chewed wood tunnels in some of the Ardenweald caves.
Ardenweald Plants
We love the way Ardenweald's plants light up, like stars in the forest of night.
Ardenweald Overview
The normal and depleted versions of one of the plants found in Ardenweald. Concept by the great
Servando Lupini
.
Bastion Orchard Plant
Like many Bastion features, there's a certain bell-look to this plant.
Bastion Zone Overview
The residents of Bastion cultivate the fruit of these vines in orchards tended to by owl people. Don’t call it canon, but in my head these taste like a combination mango/pomegranate.
I made the plant, someone else did the texture for the jeweled structure it's hanging off.
Mists of Tirna Scithe Loadscreen
Last but not least, Marie worked on the Mists of Tirna Scithe Loadscreen. A
Dreamcatcher Tree
features prominently in this image for the Ardenweald-based dungeon.
Mists of Tirna Scithe Dungeon Strategy Guide
The loading screen for the Tirna Scithe loadscreen. Like many others this one is based on a paintover of a screenshot and I go from there. Many thanks to Matt O'Connor for helping on this one.
