Rextroy Finds a Pricey Workaround for Sockets Reducing PvP Performance

Rextroy has found a workaround, albeit a pricey one, for the bug where sockets reduce your performance in PvP.
For reference, yesterday
Темный опал универсальности
caused him to deal less damage and take more damage in PvP, which is the opposite you'd expect from a Versatility boost.
To fully benefit from sockets in PvP, essentially you will have to socket your gear after you zone into an arena. This gets very expensive as the PvP scaling penalty is applied once you leave the arena, so you will have to keep depositing your gear in Void Storage to remove the gems, take it out again, and then resocket all gear before
arena match if you want to min-max.
The underlying problem behind sockets and scaling is that every socket currently adds .6 PvP ilvl, and the stat benefits from the gems do not outweigh the performance loss triggered from the higher PvP ilvl.
Here is a link where you can read up more about PvP scaling in BFA:
PvP ilvl command: /run print(GetAverageItemLevel())
You all might know of the current bug with sockets, making them reduce your performance. In this video I will showcase a way to workaround it. It is however a temporary fix, and it will cost you a lot of gold!
Sockets currently add 0.6 pvp ilvl to your pvp scaling. It is the reason their benefit isnt worth the negative impact (the higher pvp ilvl you have, the worse your performance will be).
However sockets seem to only add to the pvp ilvl during a zone shift (or if you unequip them, or enter a loading screen). So if you use the void storage to remove the sockets from your gear. You can then add the sockets before the arena battle begins to avoid increasing your pvp ilvl for that arena!
This has to be done for every arena you enter, hence why the gold cost will be really insane (the gems aswell as the void storage cost)
The benefit from this will differ aswell. Depends on what you gem. I personally gem for versa and my result were about 7.5% more dmg, healing and reduced damage taken.
Hopefully Blizzard will fix the sockets issue soon, since this strat would cost PvPers a lot of gold if they wanna maximize their characters...
