Highlights
For the returning Dungeons:
Neltharion's Lair has some interesting tie ins with the story of 10.1 and things like the Drogbar.
Vortex Pinnacle has some fun tie in with Dragons and Elementals, and is an opportunity to test the waters of how far back can we go and how much work they need to do to bring a Catalysm dungeon up to today's fidelity and gameplay expectations. They don't want a repeat of Shadowmoon Burial Grounds where there's one outlier in the challenge.
Freehold is a fan favourite.
Underrot was a curve in terms of expectations and looking at the Dungeon pool as a whole, Underrot has a lot of opportunities to use utility, different dispel types, lots of different damage profiles and the routing was interesting. So, it just rounds out the Mythic+ dungeon package for the Season.
They looked back at the way the antagonist played out in Shadowlands and one of the things that they really wanted to do in Dragonflight, and set the table with multiple forces which can play out in a less predictable pattern than we'd seen before. Looking at Dragonflight, we have Scalecommander Sarkareth and the Sundered Flame at the end of the Dracthyr experience, we also have the Incarnates freed by Razsageth. Down the road, we may very well see more Incarnates, the threat of the Infinite Dragons and even more threats under the surface.
No plans to expand the existing Renown tracks.
Zaralek Caverns will have entrances from multiple different zones to make feel like a cohesive experience. Going down to the Zaralek Caverns is a long tunnel that you can have a lot of fun Dragonriding down.
Overall very happy with professions and planning on keeping them relatively the same going into next expansion. You will want some crafted items, so that when you get your Spark for the week you are excited about what you can craft. There are plans to have cool new recipes to pursue with Embellishments but also the current recipes will also come forward, so if you love your Elemental Lariat, you'll be able to upgrade that.
Blizzard is revamping the item upgrade system to be universal across all game systems as they feel there are a lot of different item upgrade systems. You'll get Flightstones for doing anything in the game and different types of Crests based on the difficulty of the content you do.
Tier set design in 10.1 was evocative of sets from previous expansions as Aberrus was kind of the blueprint to Blackwing Descent and Blackwing Lair. So revisiting those was a great opportunity to revisit some of those fan-favourite sets and update/refresh them and was a great thematic hook there.
Tier set power is not going to be on the level of Sepulcher but its definitely dialed up a notch from the current tier. They want to really make sure players replace the set bonus going into the new tier due to the increased tuning targets. They do want to be intentional with how much complexity they're adding with the new talent system, as they want to be careful about a set's ability to impact talent builds.
Those very rare items they feel like are successful. They give you that opportunity that you're really excited to see week over week feel and gives you that stretch goal and also has an impact on what your choices on your Great Vault are. They also think that having multiple tiers as you progress through the raid did a great job of corresponding to the difficulty. That is something that they're carrying over to Aberrus.
Shadow Priest is getting a rework in Patch 10.1. A lot of significant class changes will be seen on the PTR when it goes live.
They are aware of Diablo IV launching on June 6th and that's something they'll be keeping in mind when it comes to releasing for 10.1, but nothing specific to announce at this time.
