Hello everyone! I'm Dillon from Wowhead's sister site Fanbyte, and I'm here to share some guides for the Destiny fans looking to jump in and play this year’s Guardian Games event. It just started a few days ago and we’ve been hard at work putting together guides to help you get up to speed!
If you somehow have time to keep up with the plethora of World of Warcraft content and the never ending treadmill that is Destiny 2, congratulations. I’m not entirely sure how you manage to do it.
Even for the most dedicated of players, Guardian Games 2022 has been pretty confusing. First you need to grind Laurels, an event exclusive currency used for a variety of things including purchasing more bounties (called Cards during this event), and actually completing said Cards.

Gathering Laurels and completing Cards is all done in the sake of earning Medallions which you then turn in to earn points for your respective class. The Guardian Games are a competition between each class, you see. Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters compete each day to earn the most medals to determine who will come out on top and have their award displayed in the Tower all year round.

As part of this year’s event, Bungie has brought back an old fan favorite: strike scoring. Players of the original game are likely familiar with this, but the developers limited it exclusively to the Nightfall playlist in the sequel. In short, you matchmake into fireteams of three and attempt to score the most amount of points possible before killing the final boss. More details in the guide!

Before you get too far into the event, you’ll need to complete a quest called Best in Class. The reward for doing so is the event exclusive submachine gun called The Title.

Speaking of The Title… While that’s just your first version of the gun, you can keep grinding to get a better roll. This guide houses our recommendations for the best PVP and PVE versions of the weapon!

There’s also this really weird distinction between the Training Playlist and Competitive Playlist. The former runs all week, but the latter is only available on weekends and is an important step in the Shoot to Score event quest.

There’s another quest called Medallion Battalion which is also super confusing and some folks can’t figure out how to turn in the darn thing to get the rewards.

If it’s cool cosmetics you’re after, an awesome new ship called Unauthorized Departure is available should you complete a certain Triumph. More on that in the guide!

That’s all for now! We’re still covering the event as it goes on for the next few weeks, so be sure to jump in and use our guides as needed!
