In our
previous post
about the Creation Catalyst, one of the questions asked the most in the comments were about how would transmog work with the feature. To answer those questions, we've decided to organize this post highlighting how transmog will work with the Creation Catalyst.
How does the Creation Catalyst Work?
In this post, we are focusing only on the end results of the Catalyst. You can learn more about the intrincasies of the system in our overview post or complete guide below.

Appearances Unlocked with the Creation Catalyst
When converting an item using the Creation Catalyst, the resulting item will have the look from your Patch 9.2 Class Set. Namely either the LFR, Normal, Heroic, or Mythic version of the set. You can see the full set transmogs below.

Which Apperance Will Converted Pieces Take?
After researching, apperances seem to be tied exclusively to the item level of the resulting Catalyst piece, according to the following conversion:
Items of
249 item level or lower
will take the
LFR
appearance
Items
between 252 and 262
will take the
Normal
appearance
Items
between 265 and 275
will take the
Heroic
appearance
Items
at 278 or above
will take the
Mythic
appearance
For the purposes of unlocking transmog, PvP items should be considered in their PvE item level, not their increased PvP one.
Upgrading Catalyst Created Items
If you upgrade Mythic+ or PvP items with the Catalyst, they will retain their upgrade paths, allowing you to further increase their items levels with Valor and Honor. For those items, once you upgrade them beyond a threshold, the items will take on the new appearance as well.
This means that if you upgrade a 262 M+ item, it will initially have the Normal set apperance, but if you upgrade it to 265, it will then take on the Heroic apperance.
