For those curious, you need the following to create all six of the "Ornate Mithril" pieces:

80 Mithril Bars
13 Truesilver Bars
10 Thick Leather
6 Mageweave Cloth
5 Solid Grinding Stones
1 Heart of Fire
1 Aquamarine

It's a nice set to put together for when you hit 40 as a Retribution Paladin or Arms/Fury Warrior. It's pretty decent for tanking as well, with all the dodge rating it affords.

For completing the quest u need:

108 Mithril bar
16 Truesilver bar
8 Thick leather
7 Solid grinding stone
2 Aquamarine
1 Heart of fire

The Ornate Mithril set was available from the Mithril Order quests, a long and expensive quest chain from vanilla for blacksmiths.

Sadly it was removed in Cataclysm, so finding a crafter for this set can prove to be difficult. It's really easy to find crafters in the armoury, though not many people realise this.

Look up any old (but still active) guild from your realm on the armoury. In the roster, use the drop-down tab on the right side where you can view professions (it shows achievements by default). From there click on the each character and search within their recipes for 'ornate mithril'. It's tedious, but much more efficient than spamming trade! :)

Note: The quest line was removed with Cataclysm and the recipes are unobtainable now. Customer Support is known to restore them if you completed the quests prior to catclysm.

I was able to snag my set for about 2k gold per piece.

1) Go to o theunderminejournal.com, found a realm where the items were cheap,
2) Make an allied race plate class on that server (starts at level 10)
3) Crate up and sell a battle pet on the AH to move the gold over (I listed a bunch to make this process faster and cancelled the rest of the listings once I had enough gold, it's a slow market)
4) While you're waiting for your pets to sell, level up to 19
5) Buy and learn the item appearances!.

There seems to be someone on Llane-US that regularly sells these items for cheap, but that may not last forever.
