Очень хороший топорик.
В рейде прок с ним очень частый. Как пачка мобов так практически сразу прокал.
Для себя выработал комбинацию для прока:

Процент срабатывания около 80% на обычных мобах =)
Это только свои замечания, может быть кому-нибудь и пригодится.

Первый клик снимает оружие, тем самым останавливая вихрь, второй одевает его обратно.

Топор отличный для ретри. Вполне примени как для PvE так и PvP. Прок вихря частый, однако данная способность в любой момент может быть прервана любой из ваших способностей (например, Гневом небес или Освящением у Паладина).

If you are solo'ing feel free to use it, but please do NOT use it in instances!

1) The damn proc will break any crowd control near you. Shackle, polymorph, sap, anything. As a mage, I want to kill the warrior using this thing that constantly breaks the polymorph but then refuses to move away from the sheeped mob.

2) Don't use this thing unless you have a really good tank or a lot of armor. If you are using this weapon then you are not using a shield and you will very quickly get a lot of aggro and mobs pounding on you. I just ran ZF with a paladin who used this and I wanted to kill her because when the thing proc'd then she couldn't heal herself and when everything started pounding on her and her life dropped like a rock I had to burn all my mana keeping her alive.

Truly, please don't use this in instances. =)

I agree. Many warriors suddenly proc, twirling around in the middle of a Battleground. Then we just laugh and kill him in no time, and he can't do anything. Don't use this in BG much either, it could prove disastrous, especially if you're chasing a flag carrier in WSG.

The axe is good for warrios,paladins. It has no stats so it's really bad for a hunter. The proc is very annoyin, you will have to use a spell/abillity to stop it.

The axe is good for pve, but i wouldnt recomend it for pvp. Because if the axe procs on a hunter or mage or any ranged dps class they can easily get out of the axes reach , and just put an aimshot or pyroblast on you and work you down while you are helplessly spinning. Its a good axe just use caution!

Keep this weapon. I know a higher level that still has it in his backpack. There are instances later in the game with weak non elite mobs zerging you, and this really does come in handy when it procs.

Examples of instances: Zul Farrak. Blackrock Depths. Stratholme. Atleast those I remember. There are nearly always parts in instances with alot of weak mobs, that is when its time to switch from your main weapon to this badass axe and wait for the proc.

Also, it is probably the best looking axe in the game after my opinion, and also excelent to bring when helping low levels through newbie isntances =) Dont ever sell this if you are low on money or disenchant it, heed my warning.

Ravager is better that Mograines Might by a long shot. Not only does the Ravager cause more damage it can kill a whole crowd of enemys and where would you see that oh... how bout in the Deadmines or after you kill Herod. Or all those alien looking things in Mara Orange that are supposed to be caterpillars of a sort.

The proc cannot be broken by right-clicking it off in your buff menu.

However, it can be interrupted by using abilities. As a shaman, Stormstrike or a Shock will break it handily.

i just started using this beauty as retri specced pala. i hoped that the proc will have ability to trigger seal of command, that proved to be untrue sadly. anyway its still very good axe to be used with SoC due to slow attack speed (and big damage).
and about the proc, the range of whirlwind is rly huge (i'd say like 8yds - thats hunter's dead zone for instance). oh and it can be broked by any spellcast, including those with cast time, like heals.

This weapon looks cool, so does the proc, it hits well but it made lot of trouble in SM Cath run when one warr was wearing it. He pulled many mobs in cath because of it, he removed several polymorphs, once we almost got wiped. But weapon is brilliant for lvl 37.

i can see how this axe is a solution and problem for tanking warriors and/or pallys. the way i see it is that when tanking when a guy runs and you are busy beating the crap out of another guy, you dont have time to chase him down. and warriors dont have an AoE. so this axe would will allow you to kill like 3 guys at the same time and still be able to guard people so they dont die. now for the disadvantage. its the fact that it is an AoE. if you start the spell you are stuck with it and cant cancel it for a warrior. so be careful, if you are running a very compact and small dungeon, for goodness sake dont use this without a hunter and preist.

I won this last night and would have to agree with some of the first post on it being useless in PvP...all anyone would have to do is run away...it is the same way we killed "Herod" to get it...When it proc'd, we all just stepped back. Tha being said however...it is an awesome toy and should work well ...toe to toe...with mobs in the open. I got this running "In the Name of the Light" so I still took the Bonebiter two-handed Axe for a Quest reward. It being the superior of the two.

Warriors can break the proc by switching stances. Maybe not a great answer depending on your situation, but a whole lot better than spinning like an idiot while a hunter pounds on you. I think this fact makes it more than a toy, unless you need to worry about breaking crowd control.

I think the mace, Mograine's Might is much better than this. First of all, it has a higher DPS. Secondly, it has a nice +17 stamina bonus to boost ure health, and +12 spirit for better regen. The ravager has no stat increase, only the AoE, which, to be honest can be bad in some situations!

It is very good when you come to help your lower lvl friend for example in an instance like Deadmines.Then u don't have to kill npcs one by one just simple hit one few times in that 9 seconds and watch them all die. :D

This isn't a BAD PvE instance axe. Yes, it breaks CC, but casting any instant cast spell (or ability for warriors) breaks the Bladestorm effect- and as the AoE doesn't start ticking for 3 seconds, that's plenty of time to cancel it if you're standing near the sheep.

You just need to pay attention.

This axe is still useful at level 70, and any serious DPS warrior should have this in their bag of tricks.

This weapon has the highest potential DPS of any weapon in the game in any situation where you can AOE without fear of retaliation. For example, I pulled 1000 dps on the Illhoof encounter using this weapon, tying with the two AOEers for damage.

Well... I think it's pretty unnecessary to complain about this one for breaking crowd controls in instances. People use this axe from level 37 to level 43 or something, and in the instances for those levels, crowd control is not really necessary, since the dungeons are so easy.

This axe can throw out incredible DPS, I was farming Sm Armory for the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23192, and as it happens this dropped along the way.

So I went and ran a Sm Cathedral fun run to truly test it's potential, with amazing results.

I had managed to fluctuate around 4700dps, relying merely on it's proc.
I've submitted a screenshot of the Cathedral run.

I'd reccomend this axe to anyone, whether it be for fun, or a PvE alternative.

I want to know how many times someone who was looking for this axe had to run SM Armory. I have got a level 70 to run me 5 times. I looted everything all 5 times and never got this or the scarlet legs Herod drops. I want these really bad to complete my set. I'm gonnaa keep running it but i just wish getting this was easier.

Shaman factoid: while the special whirlwind effect CAN proc from any of the windfury extra attacks,for the entire duration of the whirlwind spin the damaging attacks on your nearby victims WILL NOT proc windfury.

Also,shamans can easily stop the spinning effect by shocking or laying down a totem.

Started using this at 37 on my retribution paladin. For some odd reason whenever it goes into the bladestorm I get hit once and it gets interrupted. I don't cast any spells, activate any attacks, goes into a 2 sec spin then stops.

I have a feeling this is bug. what use would a proc for a melee weapon be if one hit knocks you out? What paladin/shaman/warrior/hunter/etc when engaged in melee combat doesn't get hit at least once or twice? Meh...

for a warrior, the whirlwind-axe is better due to the +15sta, +14str, as this only has a proc, while whirlwind-axe has stats to help.
hunters don't want this axe either because it has no stats for them as well.

A Paladin or warrior would be best for this weapon, but once again, warriors have whirlwind axe from a quest.

Your comments make a lot of sense, but, as long as you keep those problems in mind, this axe can be amazing. I have this on my paladin and it is wonderful, especially in instances. It is really easy to get a number of mobs attacking at once (in Uldaman for example 7 or 8 mobs is commonplace), and the ability to hit them all, or a majority, with a heavy hitting weapon like this is a blessing. Yes, you have to watch out for any crowd control, but if something is sheeped, etc, then you have probably moved away from it to use consecration, so that's not an issue. As for threat, you ARE going to be a threat magnet. However, a) if you're a ret pali using this thing with even mostly decent gear, you'll be generating more than enough threat as it is, b) even though you're not a tank, you're still wearing mail/plate and have some stamina, so you should be able to take the beating (i find myself tanking a lot at this level anyways), and c) if you end up pulling threat you should not have to heal yourself. Who on earth has a ret pali as main healer?! The damage this thing does is way worth it. With vengeance procced (and when bladestorm goes off, vengeance is not far behind), I've whit crit for 729 (at lvl 42, far from twinked). You will chew through mobs. And if you ever need to stop, cast ANYTHING and it will stop. I try to judge if something is alive and near, if not just re-seal. It's that simple. Also, I have noticed that this thing will proc off of Judgement of Command (very odd, but seeing as JoC procs fiery as well, i'm not as surprised. btw, put fiery on this thing ;).
In conclusion, this is a very destructive weapon that will serve you well, however you must pay attention when using it so that you stay away from sheeped/etc. mobs and know when to end it early. Also, it would be a good idea to let your party members know you're using it before the instance, so that either a) they know not to be surprised when you spin and pwn stuff, or b) ask you not to use it (I would always go with the group, but so far noone has minded). So Retadins, get this, put fiery on it, and kill stuff.
Also, this is not really a bg weapon. In arathi basin i could see this being used, as there are often a number of people nearby, but ONLY as a paladin, because they can break it fast. Warriors, if noone is within range of an ability, will sit there spinning. As for WSG..... never. ever. Because the moment you are chasing or defending a flag carrier, the irony gods will make it proc on you and that could cost you crucial seconds while you break the spin.

I just got this axe on my BE pally, enchanted it with Fiery Weapon. I don't know why the Bladestorm proc effect doesn't seem to work. Whenever it proc'ed if the monster is still alive it just stopped... (I see the channeling bar appearing then it stopped all of sudden). The effect would only go on when the proc is the killing blow. I wonder if the auto attack cancels the effect? Or is it because of something else which makes my pally unable to use the axe? I'm so sad now because I camped the SM Armory for a few days just for this axe and it does not work... can someone give me a solution? Thanks in advance.

*Edit: Problems found. It appears that the proc stops automatically only when I have judgement of crusade on the mob. Maybe because I had improve seal of crusade... Can anyone confirm if this is true and if it applies for the judgement of crusade without the improved talent skill?

As an Alliance there's no point in using it. Just get Bonebiter from the quest and you're set. 20 Str + 10 Sta and slightly higher DPS (3,4 speed) > Ravager's stupid proc. It's only good for completing and posing with your Scarlet Set.

There seems to be some confusion as to why the Bladestorm proc stops early for Ret Paladins. In my testing I believe what is happening is this. Since any "spell ability" stops the duration early, if you have ANY judgement judged on a target (light, crusader, wisdom, etc) that can be refreshed with a melee attack, this is considered a spell and this is what is breaking the Bladestorm duration.

You can SoComm, judge, repeat and the Bladestorm will proc in its full duration.

I was farming on my warrior using Ravager and kept accidentally stopping my Bladestorm effect by using other abilities. So I did alittle macro to keep bladestorm going if it's already started:

/cast Rend

I use Tab and Rend to get it to start, you could change it to Whirlwind or whatever you pref. I find the low rage cost and spammable nature of Rend works fine if all you're wanting is to get Bladestorm to start up....

After about 20 minutes of testing, I'm either extremely unlucky or SoC cannot proc during whirlwind, which does make sense in retrospect, seeing as how it can't proc off Crusader Strike and both are yellow attacks (each hit of the whirlwind registers as a yellow attack). Since all the damage seals tend to share that trait, Im guessing it can't proc Blood or even Righteousness.

Oh well, I got it pretty quickly and have a fun new axe to play with. :D

I got this weapon about 3 days ago on my pally, and have to say its not worth it, but ONLY because of the proc. I love the damage, and if it didnt have the proc, it would be the best weapon till 44 for a ret pally. It comes with a lot of downsides.

1. ALL ranged mobs, including casters or any melee mobs with throwing weapons, bows and guns, will now run out of range of the proc. This has one major flaw. You are spinning for 9 seconds while these mobs pepper you with ranged attacks. If your pulling in a tight space, these mobs who run out of range, can also pull other mobs.

2. It wont proc SoC.

3. If it procs just before a mob starts running ... your stuck. One bonus is that seals break the proc.

To me its a 5% chance of getting the games worst proc. If you are a warrior, stick with whirlwind axe till lvl 44.

Enchant procs do still seem to work with the Ravager. Each hit on a mob has the normal chance of proccing the enchant, so the more mobs you're hitting, the better.
That being said, Ravager is only really good for grinding a lot of enemies in a small space, such as the imps from Illhoof, or Shadowfang Keep. Your hits won't be as big as with other weapons, but you're sacrificing top-end damage in order to hit everything.
Stuns and knockdowns will interrupt the effect, so be aware of which mobs have those kinds of attacks.

also if ur in ZF the scarabs arent KoS(Kill on sight) so if u have killed the guy who drops the sanddtalker ankleguards i the room the healer can worry about u when the axe procs and the whole scarab room aggros and chance are that u have other classes that can heal so u should be fine.I have done the same thing with my druids hurricane in moonkin form.

Also ive noted that the bladestorm buff can be rightclicked off as of 2.4.3.

I actually like this Axe. I never actaully used it in PvP (thank god...) but the proc is pretty good though while grinding.

This little baby came in handy in most parts of ZF such as the fight with Antu'sul. When he spawns those basilisks (and chaos ensues) and you simply need that extra AoE threat (Yes, I've tanked ZF with a 2h. It ain't that hard.)

And also during the Troll zerg rush. Had this Axe proc multiple times during that part and rarely did it spell doom for my group.

This is actually a very good weapon. Just be aware of your surroundings (When ever a mob is CC'd I usually back up....problem solved!)

Uber fun as a high level paladin doing a low level instance for boost :P If you have Seal of Light activated it might proc from everyone around you =O So imagine that you have 20 guys around you.
And that it's about 50% proc chance. That would result in a 10*133=1330 healing every 3 sec =D

I am sick of seeing hunters with fiery or any other enchant on this axe.
LET ME EXPLAIN...
1. Hunters never use melee more than wingclip.
2. Hunters shall have stats on weps, to increase crit chance with range e.t.c.
3. You are a huge noob if you put fiery on it as a hunter.

As of 10/6/2008 on the PTR, the proc on this weapon causes you to do damage with your mainhand weapon. This means it could be highly useful in large AoE pulls (Bloodboil trash or Hyjal trash waves come to mind) as a fury warrior with Titan's Grip. Offhand this, and use your mainhand like usual, and when it procs have a very powerful AoE attack that makes whirlwind look like a toy =)

After much testing, I have concluded the following:
- If you have a Ravager in your Main Hand, and it procs, you will do damage equal to your Main Hand Weapon's (Ravager) damage when you spin.
- If you have a Ravager in your Off Hand, and it procs, you will do damage equal to your Main Hand Weapon's (could be anything) damage when you spin.

In my testing, with a S2 sword in MH and a Ravager OH, procs hit for 900, while in the same gear and Ravager MH, damage was around 500.

This drops from Herod in Scarlet Monastery: Armory. But this axe sucks so...Go for Scarlet monastery: Cathredral(might have spelled that wrong) it's harder. But the last boss in there drops Mograine's Might. A two-hand mace with raw stats and okay damage. Go for that one!

I dont completely agree with you guys... I myself had this weapon as a lvl 40 in pre-tbc(i was dps). And thanks to that awesome proc, i always made a suitable rank on the dmg meter(and in pre-tbc palas were usually BAD dps!). Everytime i didnt want the proc to go off, i instantly casted a seal to end it. However for warriors, this weapon could be your worst nightmare and hunters would definitly not have any benefint from this axe(because it has no stats). :-P

If you're a Paladin/Shaman/Hunter, you can also cast a spell or ability, and break it.

a hunter should not get anywhere near this item. this is an item for enhancement shammy, ret pally or a warrior. as you see, this item does not have any stats, only proc. a hunter shal never go melee. and PS huntards: for gods sake, don't roll for something without stats, and don't roll on items that have +strength. it gives you nothing, only melee AP. go for agi, int, stam. the warrior in my grp for RFK left when the hunter rolled for the corpsemaker, wich is imba for warr, but very bad for hunters. know what you need!

Just got this axe, and I have to say, it is awesome. At level 40, specced ret, I am pulling a easy 150 DPS on most fights. To confirm or reject the comments above:

This CAN proc off of Judgement of Command
This DOES proc Seal of Command
This CAN proc off of itself
This WILL proc Crusader and Mongoose enchants
Using any spell without a cast time will break the effect (Seals, Battle Shout, etc.)
Reckoning WILL proc off critical Bladestorm hits

People keep on saying you are gonna get rid of this weapon soon, but after you get better weapons, this weapon is still king in AoE fights. It procs often, and in massive AoE fights, even multiple times in a row, as it can proc off itself.

A fun, but useless axe when it comes down to it. the bladestorm like proc ability looks cool, but it doesnt happen often, and its not worth it, especially when you can get bonebiter from a quest that involves herod, which this axe drops off of.

While grinding for Silk as a paladin, i thought i'd !@#$ about with this, it turned out to be useful!
I Pulled every mob in Armory, put Seal of Light on, when it procced, Wabumff, full HP.

So it can be used for Health control as a pala which is a High level.

I actually enjoy this weapon very much on a Ret Paladin. I can imagine some severely painful possibilities later level and even end game.

The idea of a Ret Paladin (as we all know) at higher levels of solo PvE is to pull multiple targets and AoE them down -- it's much faster (not exactly mana-efficient).

This weapon just makes our jobs easier, and seems to proc very often. That being said, I've played with it and discovered some tricks, albeit difficult to frequently invoke --

If fighting a single mob and Bladestorm triggers, wait for the initial hit, then throw your Judgement. This weapon has the perfect speed to hit from Bladestorm, Judgement of Command, Seal of Command and your white-hit attack to hit -- all at once. If 3 out of 4 of these crit at once, your unlucky mob is in for some devastation.

Also, I've sometimes had Bladestorm proc while in a Divine Shield. The damage is sorely reduced, however it's nice to stand in it while you're being healed by Seal of Light.

A final note, if you're trying to dispel this effect when not needed, you can either cast a spell to remove it or right-click the buff. Be sure not to accidentally right-click your Vengance buff, being of similar colors to the Bladestorm buff.

EDIT:

I also think it's fair to say that most paladins reaping the benefits of this weapon are of the Alliance, which have a few other choices of armaments.
Highly recommended for a Horde Retribution Paladin for both effect, damage and pure, gorgeous aesthetics.

I've tested two Ravagers with a Fury Warrior (with Titan's Grip), here are the results to a few questions:

The beneficial buff is called Bladestorm, but does NOT use the Whirlwind effect. With both equipped, only one attack was released per target.

The effect CAN be triggered by special abilities. However, I am not 100% sure on this, because I tested this with Whirlwind, which instantly attacks with both weapons.. so it may not actually apply to certain abilities.

From what I gather.
-the proc's Bladestorm causes MAIN HAND weapon damage +5 to EVERYTHING in range every 3 seconds for 9 seconds regardless which hand it's in /looks at the fury warriors
-if you have 2 Ravagers only 1 will proc at a time (would rather equip a higher top end damage weapon on the mainhand rather than a 2nd ravager imo)
-the proc immobilizes you for the duration
-CANNOT block, dodge, or parry during Bladestorm
-proc CAN break CC
-can right click off the buff
-attempting to use ANY ability will cease the Bladestorm and cast said ability
-proc damage is classified as physical damage

ie, Ravager with Battlemaster chant in the offhand, with say Berserker in the mainhand. would Battlemaster, Berserker, or both be able to proc off Bladestorm?

As a level 80 Retribution Paladin, Ravager makes Seal of Cleave (Command) ridiculous for AoE. I was soloing Ramparts just for the hell of it and at one point, had a net DPS of 12000. Seal of Cleave hit every mob stuck by Bladestorm, which becomes insane as the damage causes several chain reactions of seal damage. I think if you run around some place like Icecrown and group the mobs near the Conflagration/Onslaught Harbor with a healer, you'll be able to drop entire groups in a matter of seconds.

I find this is brilliant on my paladin as AoE dps.
I used a bit before 3.2.2 and it worked fine but with the updated seal of command i have done 6.6k dps on the 4 training dummies(60).

I managed to reach 23k dps on onyxia.

The axe works very with the seal because for every one enemy you hit with it it hits another 2.So on onxya there was about 15-20 whelps each one got hit once then they all got hit twice.
Just watch your aggro :).

This is quite sick, when used with the new Seal of Command, each hit of the bladestorm proc casts a Seal of Command on three targets.
I placed myself in the middle of the 6 practice dummies in Theramore and started hitting. Once the Bladestorm effect activated I spun and hit

6 dummies for 200 physical damage each and got
24 procs of seal of command for over 2500 dmg total.

No idea why it is 24 instead of 18, but the more enemies you have around you, the more powerful this weapon gets. I'm sure this will be patched soon, right now this is just too awesome, even with only three mobs it procs Seal of Command more often than it should and mows down everything.

So Wowhead I would love to share an interesting story about this axe, a lvl 80 fury warrior, and Onyxia getting owned.
Today a Guildie of mine told me the funniest story.
It was an onyxia pug and so everyone was going over the Strat right? Well this warrior suddenly comes in and bets 300g that he can out melee dps everyone when the whelps came out.
so my guildie inspects him, he finds the warrior has got some lvl 251, 245 gear mostly.
Except he was wielding two ravagers from Scarlet monastery.
The #$%^storm that happened when the whelps came out. every other hit apparently proc'ed and this warrior was spinning like a top murdering the whelps.
He did top the dps charts for that.
So watch out for of these old world items, might be able to have more fun than we think when we are at that top level.

What would happen if you'd be a fury warrior with titan's grip at lvl 80, you have been blasting on alot of stuff and only recently gained Shadouwmourne...

Since (as far as i've checked) Shadowmourne has the highest top-end damage in the game, and Ravagar takes the dmg of the main-hand, if you'd combine this in OH and shadowmourne in MH what kind of sick-ass dps you'd put out if Ravager procs?
Maybe once, after a while, someone will think of this... I can't wait :D

Lord, oh, Lord I hate this axe...

If you are solo'ing feel free to use it, but please do NOT use it in instances!

1) The damn proc will break any crowd control near you. Shackle, polymorph, sap, anything. As a mage, I want to kill the warrior using this thing that constantly breaks the polymorph but then refuses to move away from the sheeped mob.

2) Don't use this thing unless you have a really good tank or a lot of armor. If you are using this weapon then you are not using a shield and you will very quickly get a lot of aggro and mobs pounding on you. I just ran ZF with a paladin who used this and I wanted to kill her because when the thing proc'd then she couldn't heal herself and when everything started pounding on her and her life dropped like a rock I had to burn all my mana keeping her alive.

Truly, please don't use this in instances. =)

I'm sorry, but this is NOT a "fantastic weapon for pallies". Let's go over it.

While this is going (and note that it's only a VERY INCREMENTAL increase in damage), the following things will NOT happen:

1) Seal of Command proccing won't work.
2) Seal of Righteousness extra holy damage won't work.
3) Reckoning won't affect it.

I know because my current spec has all of these things and I've been watching.

So basically, all your special abilities that add LOTS of extra damage, are nerfed by the Ravager for A LITTLE extra damage. Stupid tradeoff.

OK so it does an AOE hit, but how often do you need that really?

This axe is awesome to have as a tank. At the req level, it's better than the heirloom axe, and no one really needs a shield for pre-bc dungeons anyway. Got this axe on my 1st Scarlet Monastery run what i can say bout this are :

1. It seems to have no cd, I observed 3 procs in a row.
2. Fiery blaze enchant ( a consumable enchant from a quest in badlands) also procs while Bladestorm is active.

* got this one on my warrior alt, just be careful for the procs when in a dungeon u might get all the aggro from this, though u can cancel the effect by casting another spell or right clicking on the buff* Enjoy!

Update: when it procs plenty of times in a row, the whirling animation will no longer show yet u still have the buff and of course u can still see the damage done.

With groups pulling giant mobs at a time in SM and no CC, the Ravager has become a very powerful weapon for Ret Paladins who have "Seals of Command" as a talent and are using Seal of Righteousness. This equals out to every hit in the spin dealing both the initial weapon damage and holy damage done to 3 targets for every target hit with weapon damage. Not only that, but the effect of Seal of Righteousness is not affected by the 10 target cap on aoe, meaning even at this level your aoe dps can sky rocket to over 2k with something as simple as a 7 mob pull.

I agree, this axe is pretty bad for instances that crowd control is needed, but for instances where cc is not needed, this axe is amazing. Also, what i've found is that you can loot a mob while doing it, and your feet will keep on doing circles, but your upper body will stay put. but dont forget you can cancel it at any time by pressing <escape> or just doing another spell. so its ability is not a big deal.

After you run the Armory about 3times it should drop but if u go to the dungeon and get somebody to run u make sure after u do the armory to do 1of the other dungeons or Herod will drop what he droped the last time he ran u.

Seeing this axe again brings back great memories of when I was leveling my Arms Warrior back in Vanilla. I only ever used this axe when was soloing and would switch to another weapon in instances so that the axe procs wouldn't make me pull crazy aggro if it went off! Was definitely a fun toy! :-)

Could be a major plus if a warrior used this to trick someone into disarming him (weapons proc), then switching to proper weap and doing the real bladestorm. Problem is the procrate of the weapon + lower damage done while using it.

Sure it can atleast be worth using while still building your Slaughter buffs, but still, low pressure @ start of arena match..

They usually start by ignoring you cause of low damage, either that or they switch to you thinking youre being boosted and might not handle the 'being nuked situation' so well. Never been disarmed on the proc due to low damage. Bah, worth a shot and still fun to try anyway.

I created my wowhead account because of this axe.
I've been on the transmog kick lately and while I wouldn't transmog this I found myself remembering how. Much fun this axe was. Haters gonna hate but hell it was fun, it let pallies bladestorm! It might not be the best for pallies but I loved it.
I remember well a battle with a warrior in arathi basin and he and I went at it with my wild herod axe bladestorms.
I dearly hope they do a bladestormin update of this weapon in MoP! So much more intersting than boring old "mastery crit haste hit and expertise."

Well, as we can all see above, "This item is no longer available within the game.", It was replaced with The Gleaming Ravager, which does not have a spin effect. :( To clarify, you can no longer obtain it, but if you already have it, you can keep it, and as of Dec 10, 2012 it still has the spin effect.

I hope that everyone who wanted one got theirs before the item was no longer obtainable. I'm VERY happy that my fury warrior has two of them for clearing low-level dungeons for friends. ;)

As a few pointed out, this item was actually even useful in endgame(60 at that time).The whirlwind proc would net you very many hitchecks, resulting in good carnage and aoe grinding.

For 39 twinks as well PoD was NOT the best weapon....with a 350 damge wound proc(wtf is this), i always used a Ravager.Surely,it was a tad bit faster, but slow does not always mean good, less auto attacks and with the amount of sub rogues in the 39 bracket you would get yourself handed fast without a healer

Sure, for it's time, 250-350 dmg proc was quite alot at its level, but imo ravager was alot better.Plus it was a static drop....not to mention Bonebiter was there as well.

This was the axe General Nazgrim used. Before he rose to prominence and later fell, he was like us, running instances to get stronger. When he came across this axe, he never wanted to put it down. But as he got stronger, he was forced to. Then Transmogrification was released, one of the happiest days of his life, and he would use it again... to his final day.
