With the current infomation of obtainable loot from Ulduar 10 man and 25man, this weapons is a very strong candidate for BIS DK Tanking 2her.
Of course, however, we apparently only know about 40% of the loot table so there is a high probabilty a better weapon can be obtainable in 25 man atleast.
Hit is a nice stat to have on a weapon. With Naxx tanking gear you don't get that much hit. Armour pen not that useful but it's nice. Lower amount of strength. It has less strength that other leaked 2hers, but the loss in parry rating is infirior to the gain in stamina.
Replacing the Innevitable defeate for this weapon would mean you lose a large amount of agility. But in my opinnion the gain in stamina and damage stats of the weapon makes up for it, given you'd need to generate more threat to accomidate the increase in damage being delt by your guild through Ulduar gearing.
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45516
can rival this weapon depending on how you'd socket. But the crit rating favours it as a dps weapon more. Abaddon theoretically would be easier to obtain (RNGs ftw).
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45165
is also a nice alternative. You lose stamina, but if you're an orc, that weapon would drown you in expertise which would be epic.

Abaddon has at least two meanings.
1. The destroyer, or angel of the bottomless pit; -- the same as Apollyon and Asmodeus.
2. Hell; the bottomless pit.
And could also be a possible reference to Abaddon the Despoiler of Worlds in the Warhammer 40,000
universe, in which he is considered the most powerful Chaos Lord currently in the 40k universe since the Horus Hesery.

Abaddon is used in lots of things. It's not originally from warhammer. It's normally Abaddon the Destroyer, they just changed the name a bit because it's been used in countless games to signify something truly evil and bad.

This was thecase in previous instances, but is not the case in Ulduar.
Previous instances (with occasional exceptions & not counting hard modes):
All items from each boss had identical item levels
Weapons were the same ilvl as everything else
End bosses dropped higher ilvl gear
Ulduar:
The ilvl of all items for a specific slot are the same across all bosses in a specific mode (normal vs hard)
Weapons are higher ilvl than other items
End bosses do not drop higher lvl loot, increased ilvl items are only found in hard modes
Algalon could throw a wrench into all this, if his hard mode (aka his only mode) dropped higher ilvl loot than all the other hard modes. We'll see.

For ret pallies, at least, this weapon is actually inferior to both
Ironsoul
and
Stormedge
in terms of damage capability. The majority of a ret pally's attacks scale with weapon damage, and it would take a mountain of stats to make up for the almost 30 point drop in top end damage.
For rets doing solely normal mode 10 man, my suggestion is to farm Loot Leviathan for Ironsoul and enjoy.

This is quite possibly making a reference this.

I just got Abaddon this week. I'm a Blood Tank/Frost DPS on my DK. This weapon is fantastic for tanking as Blood, as the vast majority of your damage is purely physical and the armor penetration gives a nice kick to your overall TPS.
It's hard to hit cap as a tank, and this blade has a healthy amount of Strength, Stamina and Hit, and rivals the 25 man 2-handers purely based on stat allocation.
Oh yeah, and it looks badass.

And I can't believe you're lecturing people on normalization when you don't understand how it works either.
From the article you linked on wowwiki:
Normalization refers to an
Attack Power adjustment
made to instant attacks
Normalization only affects the bonus damage gained from attack power, which is why top-end damage still DOES matter. Normalization was created to ensure that the top-end damage of the weapon is the only determining factor in damage difference, and not that slower weapons also received a larger per-hit damage bonus from attack power as well.
Once again from the wowwiki
Normalization
article you linked without apparently reading:
Prior to patch 1.8, the weapon damage used for instant attacks was:
damage =
base_weapon_damage
+ (weapon_speed * Attack Power / 14)
Currently, the normalized weapon damage for instant attacks is:
normalized_damage =
base_weapon_damage
+ (X * Attack Power / 14)
where X is:
* 1.7 for daggers
* 2.4 for other one-handed weapons
* 3.3 for two-handed weapons
* 2.8 for ranged weapon
Notice that base weapon damage is still part of the damage formula, so for the 2 hypothetical weapons you listed:
Weapon A: 270 - 370 Damage, Speed 3.2, 100 dps
Weapon B: 330 - 430 Damage, Speed 3.8, 100 dps
And a hypothetical 2800 attack power (2800/14 = 200), the final damage for each weapon will be the original damage plus the normalized gain from attack power, or 200 * 3.3 = 660 bonus damage
So therefore:
Weapon A: 270 - 370 Damage + 660 = 930 - 1030 damage
Weapon B: 330 - 430 Damage + 660 = 990 - 1090 damage
Difference in base damage: 60 per swing, difference after AP: 60 per swing
The damage difference after the attack power gain is 60 damage per swing, the same as the difference in the base weapon damage. This difference remains but the attack power adds a fixed amount. Before normalization the bonus damage from attack power would be different for each weapon, magnifying the benefit of using the slower weapon for instant attacks like Crusader Strike, MS, etc.
Pre-normalization:
Weapon A: 270 - 370 base + (200*3.2 = 640) = 910 - 1010 damage
Weapon B: 330 - 430 base + (200*3.8 = 760) = 1090 - 1190 damage
Difference in base damage: 60 per swing, difference after AP: 180 per swing
So before the attack power bonus was normalized, the instant weapon damage was dramatically increased for slower weapons. After normalization, attack power bonus is consistent and only the difference between the weapons' base damage affects their total damage on instant attacks.

Now that we know
all of the loot
...
With 159 stamina, Abaddon is the highest-stamina Death Knight tanking weapon, unless you are clearing hardmodes or can get an arena rating of 1850 or higher, higher than even the heroic Ulduar non-hard-mode drops. It is also the highest threat weapon for a human DK tank who is not doing 25-man Ulduar.
DKs of other races who aren't doing hard modes or heroic Ulduar will get more threat out of
Stormedge
, and any DK will get more avoidance out of an agility-based weapon like
Hoperender
.
DKs who are looking to upgrade from Abaddon without sacrificing stamina have six choices, from lowest possible stamina to highest:
All gem slots are assumed to be
Solid Sky Sapphire
s. Anyone with access to
Solid Dragon's Eye
s can put them wherever they like.
Dark Edge of Depravity
- Dropped by
Yogg-Saron
in heroic mode Ulduar, with one or zero Keepers assisting the raid. This weapon has 177 stamina, good speed, and tied-for-best-in-slot DPS, as well as agility for avoidance and a significant dollop of hit for threat. On the other hand, haste is relatively low-value for DK tanks, and the amount of AP is low. This is a significant upgrade over non-hard-mode loot, but as this is best-in-slot or tied-for-best-in-slot for four other significant raiding specs (feral druids, arms warriors, and marksman and survival hunters) and a fair bit less than best-in-slot for tanking death knights, some raids will see fit to favor the DPSers. (Your raid, as always, will need to make its own decisions.)
Hammer of Crushing Whispers
- Dropped by
Yogg-Saron
in non-heroic mode Ulduar, with one or zero Keepers assisting the raid. This weapon has 185 stamina and exceptional speed and DPS, as well as a significant dollop of hit for threat. This is a very well-balanced weapon for a death knight tank: the only stat of relatively low value is the critical strike rating.
Aesir's Edge
- Dropped by hard-mode
XT-002
in non-heroic Ulduar. This weapon has 188 stamina and exceptional speed and DPS. Unlike HoCW above, it is itemized more heavily for stats attractive to DPS classes and specs. On the other hand, it is very nearly as good as HoCW, and drops from a significantly easier boss.
Voldrethar, Dark Blade of Oblivion
- Dropped by hard-mode
General Vezax
in heroic Ulduar, this has 193 stamina, exceptional speed, and tied-for-best-in-slot DPS. This is best-in-slot for nearly every spec which can equip it, and tanking DKs are no exception.
An
ilevel 232 Furious Gladiator weapon
(
example
) - Obtained from the arena vendor at 1850 rating. This weapon has 228 stamina and exceptional weapon DPS and speed. On the other hand, critical strike rating is fairly low value to tanks, the resilience is likely useless, and
AP does not contribute to avoidance
or scale with talents and
Blessing of Kings
.
An
ilevel 239 Furious Gladiator weapon
(
example
) - Obtained from the arena vendor at 2350 rating. This weapon has 240 stamina, exceptional speed, and tied-for-best-in-slot weapon DPS. As with the lower-level PVP weapons, critical strike rating is fairly low value to tanks, the resilience is useless, and AP is less useful than strength.
As for other melee classes, Abaddon is filler. Most classes will prefer
Stormedge
if they need the hit,
Ironsoul
if they don't. Both are easier to get and better-itemized for DPS. Until you get any Ulduar drops or a
Betrayer of Humanity
, this is acceptable filler.
Arms warriors are a notable exception: Abaddon is
exceedingly
poor for arms warriors. Unless you are replacing a non-epic weapon,
an ilevel 200 epic weapon
, or
Armageddon
, replacing your current weapon with Abaddon is a
DPS loss
, due to the low effectiveness of
Sword Specialization
.

While Ulduar, and particularly Yogg-Saron, is considerably more difficult and time-consuming than Heroic Trial of the Champion, ultimately I feel that Edge of Ruin is a superior weapon. More strength, slower, and better overall itemization for plate DPS. What a shame because this weapon has a cool model.
