Normally in raids loots is given out as of how much one or another class can get out of it,since warrior can get most out of it,maybe pala tank would not care, but raid leader would.
Nevertheless these comments is not meant to discus ''i get higher prio to this item than you''
Do that on WoW forums, nobody cares here.
Without socket the difference between
http://ptr.wowhead.com/?item=40402
is:
+3 str
-3 stam
-2 def rate
+2 parry
+32 expertise
-24 hit
With solid gem you get more stamina,it has more str (pala/warr) lower def rate but then again more parry.
It`s quite equal to last laugh,if you are hit capped, pick the mace,if you need more expertise and your hit is fine, stick to last laugh.

Flashing Caridinal Ruby
or
Subtle Cardinal Ruby
for the small stam bonus.
As for the argument of who should take and not to take. IMO it should go to your guilds MT 1st then so on.
The stats are great for all the tanking classes more weighted to DK and Warrior due to expertise. Paladins will benifit from it just as much with the TPS they can generate with
Hammer of the Righteous
, for this is the highest DPS weapon currently out (HotR is one of the paladins MAIN threat spells) so naturally they will want it as well.
Another thing to consider is that this may not be the only 239 tanking weapon to drop in all the different Uldar modes. While this looks great now for all classes. Something better could drop and thus sway <insert tanking class> attention to in it.
All in all great looking weapon. Look like your wielding a small reactor in your hand.

Expertise is better then hit for warriors (until the softcap) , Considering it's almost useless to pallies this should go to whoever can use a tanking weapon.
I'm haven't tanked since the end of BC, so I could be wrong here. Expertise lowers the chance the enemy will parry/dodge your attacks, correct? Soft: dodge at 7.5% or so, and Hard: Parry at 12.5%-15%. Which is about 26 expertise for dodge and 60 for parry. Both warriors and paladins gain 6 points from talents. Lets assume you have no expertise, that meens 15% the boss will parry your attack as a tank, in doing will reset his attack timer, meaning double attack, :(. This was the insta kill factor for tanks when there use to be crits and crushes.
So my question to all this is, "How does expertise effect paladins any less then warriors?" Since the changes in wrath paladins and warriors are similar in every aspect. Though, warriors still have higher overall avoidance, and paladins have more flat damage mitigation.

according to this info your wrong.
One point of expertise decreases the chance that melee attacks made by the player will be dodged or parried by 0.25%.
^ means all tanks should take SOME expertise ^
which means its stops a Paladins Hammer of the Righteous from missing along with any other attack you be parried or dodged. Example you Swing sword/mace and you get parried / dodge next swing you hit with melee swing and seal damage goes off..
If a paladin doesnt need expertise to NOT be parried Dodge then how do you expect use to get our seals to work?
Really now stop down ranking all the comments defending the reason why paladins can use this!

Expertise is a Paladin's third best threat stat (on a point by point basis), btw

. Expertise isn't "useless" for a Paladin, it's just not as required.

Your notion of a 'proper' DK tank is innacurate. Though blizz said they never intended DK's to DW tank they also said that they wanted to make it viable unless EVERYONE did it. Well I dont see many DK's DW outside of myself and the people I know that 2h tank have about the same threat generation as me, sometimes lower. We're also talking tanks with 2-handers and full t7.5,
Not everyone is a tool and is going to listen to what everyone say is 'supposed to be' right, and find it out for themselves. 2-handed tanking is not inferior or superior to DW tanking except in the fact that you don't need to stack expertise to the ceiling, but with so much more of the new gear including *gasp* Tiered armor for DK's having expertise I would venture to say that it's quite viable and i've tanked almost everything before the patch as MT so:
to blantantly put it: 'proper' DK tank? Guess I should stop being MT for everything cuz I DW and I can generate as much if not more threat than DK's with best in slot gear for tanking and do my job as a main tank very well.
You're straight up wrong.

Seriously? you're looking that far back?
I mean yeah it's just a choice but still.
Anyway, All tanks need expertise period... let me say that again just to be sure you heard;
All Tanks
NEED
expertise.
Anything that keeps your attacks from failing = GOOD. Anything that prevents them from parry bashing you. = GOOD. etc etc...
and on the other note for a tank. threat generation = a skill. I know Warrior tanks that far out gear me that I can still overtake in threat without taunting as a prot pally, and there are others that are equally geared to me that I have to try and over take them.
In short. Tank + can use maces = Roll on that bad boy. I sure as heck am going to.

Expertise does not help a taunt to not miss. Hit Rating does that.
Expertise is purely for physical attacks, which taunt (in any form) is not.
Is your argument that hit is more valuable than expertise because of Taunt? Consider how often you use any physical attack versus how often you use Taunt. I'm not suggesting one should ignore one's hit rating, but the threat and mitigation provided by expertise badly outstrips hit until one reaches undodgeable levels of expertise, and it's still competitive, point for point, up to unparryable.

I like what you've said here, and the first thing I noticed on the T8 Gear was that two pieces of the gear give expertise. I am currently Expertise capped (54/54) and have not been parried since, and I also scoop up any gear that has expertise on it, so long as it doesn't gimp my other stats for it. I currently have 30.7k hp and plenty of dodge and parry (44% combined w/o raid buffs). I DW to maximize procs, such as the damage dealing talents to help with threat and I actually enjoy bloodworms after the patch as they heal me for around 500-600 per second and the faster Rune Strikes are nice too.
On the subject of gearing other tanks in guild: They get to roll just like I do, and they know i'm going to and have no complaints. Another guild or a PUG I dont really care about and if it's not a guildy or a friend I don't really care. They get to roll, and I will not entertain any QQ like how they won't entertain mine. If I do my job well I get an equal opportunity to roll my main spec. You do have a valid point when it comes to a guild that may need the War or Pally tank geared up more than the DK, but i've not had that problem. As a rule though any guild would probally be best to let a DW tank roll on one weapon per raid and not do a Main and Off hand roll due to the scarcity of tanking weapons.
My other tanking spec puts me @ 53/53 Expertise and i've seen about 1 in 400 attacks get parried. I have totally removed the parry-hasting argument from what i've done, and it is in itself a form of damage mitigation. It may not apply to every boss, but on the other hand it also improves threat.
The bottom line is this:
I will continue to do what I do and be successful with it, that's my choice and if it's not broke don't fix it. Every DK tank I have talked to and helped to learn the ropes of tanking I
usually suggest 2-handers.
Why is that? It is because I know how gear intensive it is to properly DW, and it's not an easy thing to pull off. Those that do go DW I tell to have at the minimum 27/27 expertise. I did see one dps'er DW tank as an off-spec... and he had 11 expertise... not pretty.
TBH I look @ numbers, and the numbers I see stack me up just as well with 2-h Tanks. The only things that they have over me is their hit rating and having a little more avoidance (Though most 2-h use Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle and I use 2% parry x 2).
Unlike alot of the people who tried and failed:
I did my homework
I try out everything before I finalize it and make sure it works and works for me, because this is a game and I play it to be good at it but also most importantly I play to have fun while performing well.

from my point of view as a paly tank..
my experience teach me this 2 things
1. expertise does help my thread but i dont rly need it
2. but, expertise is rly impt for me is because i dont want to get parried , resets boss swing timer , and get 2 shotted in less than a sec, with is pretty much 1 shotted
any other critics outside there wanna comment, cos im curious about do i rly need that expertise im going for now cos i have been stacking lots of it just because of a bad experience tanking naxx25 in uld25 gear and die.. its damn fking stupid

Coming from a warrior tank.
I want this weapon. Badly.
Not only is it the best tank weapon yet, it looks awesome too.
Pallies in my guild think the same thing.
Even though I benefit more from expertise (if only a little), I think they should have a chance too.
I'm just passing on titanguard each time it drops, I already have Last Laugh, and Titanguard is just a small upgrade.
The pallies and other warriors generally bid a lot of DKP for it, and I'm saving mine for this one.
IMO this should go to the tank with the most dkp, or if your guild uses a loot counsil, to a warrior. Even though it is probably the best tanking weapon for pallies, we warriors just benefit more, it's just a fact.
Also, I'm already expertise capped, 27 atm. Also hitcapped if we bring a shadowpriest.
I just want this weapon for the stats, the socket, and the looks. Not for some silly 3 expertise, that's 2 gems.

I made a profile for DK tanking, this is basically the guideline im going to be following for my tank.
Tell me what you guys think of the stats, Don't forget even though the HP does look low its because it doesn't show Frost Presence on and mining profession, also Horn of Winter will make both parry and dodge over 30%.
If im not mistaken the expertise cap for parry was 56 and since i managed to do so, none of my hits should ever miss boosting my threat. If your wondering why my rings aren't enchanted its because i don't have that profession and not going to lie about it.
Now i know, chances are that i may not get this gear right away but at least its something to aim for.
