Traditionally, random-stat crafted items have been hit or miss, and are avoided aside from skilling up your profession. They have a nasty habit of producing such lovely modifiers such as "Of the Wolf" and "Of the Boar" which no one really wants unless it's getting DE'd.

This, however, seems to have been restricted to a tighter list of potential stat combinations. Almost all of them are pretty solid with the only questionable one being "Of Restoration" which isn't nearly as bad as things like Boar/Wolf anyway.

So, if you do craft these you can be fairly sure that there will be a market for it. Rather expensive to make though while LK mats are still tight.

Many of these stat combinations are extremely nice starting gear, better than comparable quest items.

Restoration is great for healers.
Champion is an excellent tanking ring.
Necromancer is an excellent dps caster ring.
Soldier and Squire are excellent plate dps rings.

It goes on and on. Since Forest Emeralds are one of the less expensive gems available right now, you can craft one of these for less than 100g. The trick, of course, is to get the one you want ;).

err...When you say STARTING gear, it would require a level of 70/71. However, this ring is lvl 78. Which at that point you have rings of higher values simply from quest rewards.

Look to never make this ring ever, and just have it in your arsenal for extra mats that you'd like to waste to craft something with.

I can't really imagine what these would DE for. Can someone post? Err, a Dream Shard? -- lol.

Note that you cannot equip two Dream Signets of different kinds. I tried to equip a sorcerer and and invoker for my offheal set, and I got the "you cannot equip more than one of those items" message. So, unique-equipped applies to any Dream Signet.

I'm not sure what prices are like on other realms, but on my realm (Arathor) i can BO a Forest Emerald for 8g, a dream shard for 8g, and Titanium Ore x2 for 22g. So for a total of 38g I can make a ring that sells for an average of 50g (maybe I was just lucky and made mostly good ones...i dunno). Not only that, but this stays yellow all the way to 450, making it one of the best items for getting your JC to cap w/o having to spend JC marks on designs you might not need.

edit: I am not saying these are good lvl 78 rings...but if they are selling for 50g, who am I to question good old WoW economics =D

To pick up on what Hyper just said, these are great for leveling your JC. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of the rings I just made, but I was pretty happy to have a relatively inexpensive design that would get me to 450 (forest emeralds are the worst gem out there IMO so I'm very happy I didn't have to use gems that would sell for more than 15 gold). Even if I'm only able to get 20 gold for each of them I'll make back 1/2 of my investment - not bad compared to other professions.

did you know: you can get an enchanter to disenchant this for you and woila, you have your dream shard back.

The good Thing about making one that sucks is if you have someone who is also a Disenchanter, it will atleast DE into a Shard and you only need a lvl 325 DE to DE it.

i made my first dream signet and let me say this...FINALLY! GOOD LUCK! I'm a tankadin and my first dream signet came with the ...of the Champion (4.2% chance)
+28 Strength, +42 Stamina, +28 Defense Rating

I bought this ring (to replace my crappy green ring) and suddenly .... ding... i gained the achievement Superior.
Which requires Itemlvl 187+ and this page says that it's 174, but this also just might have been thanks to the 'of the Bandit' version, which i had.

If you have an endless, or near endless supply of Titanium and Forest emeralds you can buy (or be given) a dream shard and start off with one ring to level your enchanting. Just keep disenchanting the ring that you create and use the shard to make a new ring. Easy levels if you've got the mats.

I have a Dream Signet of the Tiger, which a GM restored to me. It was previously of the Bandit.

Expect these to become more popular in the 3.2 patch.

Official PTR patch notes:
Randomly generated uncommon (green) and rare (blue) quality items in Wrath of the Lich King had stat values that were lower than intended. All Wrath of the Lich King uncommon and rare items with random suffixes ("of the Bear") have had their stat values increased significantly.

I just purchased an "of the Bandit" ring for my hunter.

The new stats are Agility +34, Stamina +51, Attack Power +68

The increase in stats is 21.4% for each attribute in Patch 3.2

Which is a pretty nice ring considering how few defense rings there are.

A guild I was in faded away and I was handed the reigns, only to find one of these in the gbank with no enchantment. Is this a bug? It's simply called Dream Signet and requires level 78. It has no bonuses of any kind.

When you DE something you normally get something besides one of the ingredients it was made from. A level 174 item normally gets you something like infinite dust or greater cosmic essence. To think that this one DE's into one of its three ingredients is idiotic as far as I am concerned and makes it pointless to create one so that you can DE it into a mat you need for something else.

Since Cata it seems to be harder to come by the greater cosmic essence and I purposely made two of these to see if it would DE into one. I was so mad that it DE'd into one of its original ingredients that I wrote a ticket.

Someone mentioned the unenchanted dream signet-that's right it starts out with no enchant. The JC combines it with the mats listed above to get the enchanted version.
