You're all confusing me. I haven't seen a single piece of tanking gear with spell crit on it. Spell hit is very important, especially when you tank with Seal of Vengeance. And spell damage is how you build your threat.

All in all, this is a fantastic chestguard. All the right stats, and it does look like Blizzard finally got the socket thing more or less right.

Comparing SoR with 1 hand weapon with a speed of 1.8 to SoV with 5 stack:

SoR only exceeds SoV at 875 spell damage
JoR only exceeds JoV as 1212 spell damage

The fun thing about SoR is that the bonus damage is based on the weapons speed and min/max damage values so the break even point may vary for you a bit. Here is the formula:

Holy damage with rank 9 SoR for a one-handed weapon = 0.85 * (2610.43* main weapon speed/ 100) + 0.03 * (maximum weapon damage + minimum weapon damage) / 2 - 1

2 other things to keep in mind about SoV vs SoR

the spell damage coefficient used for the damage on the SoV dot is based on the spell damage at the time the 1st SoV is stacked. So if SoV starts stacking while Avenging Wrath is up it will continue to get the bonus damage even after AW expires as long as the stack is kept up
After patch 2.2, once the 5 stack of SoV is up SoV will do a minor amount of bonus holy damage. The extra damage is not significant except that it can crit and helps keep the SoV stack up.
