This is an incredibly good weapon. It has a very high top end damage, a decent stamina boost, and the red, yellow, and blue gems add a potential 12 stam 8 str and 8 critical strike rating which adds up to a fearsome weapon (for warriors anyway). But then again you should expect good drops from a boss like Kael 'thas.

This item was supplied to Hunters on the PTR test realm and there I found it to be an exceptional weapon for a hunter.

A little less stam than Axe of the Gronn Lords which is more of a PvP weapon in the hands of a hunter. This on the other hand, is better for both PvE and PvP. Survivability, 3 slots for custmization, an absolute ton of crit and lots of AP. Massive raptor crits for drive by clippings and for those players who love to hug the deadzone. Best 2h for hunter I have seen yet.

if socketed correctly, this is in fact, the best 2H sword in wow, beating Cataclysm's Edge, i have in fact tested this sword, and it can not be trumped until The SunWell Plateau(assumed) comes out in patch 2.4
the gems i used were a Bold/Bright Crimson Spinal (interchangeable for hunters(bright)/paladins(eather)/warriors(bold)), a Smooth Lionseye, and a Shifting Tanzanite

OK, here are my thoughts...
, and 3x (These gems costs 300g per, but totally worth it IMO. (I play on Executus and got some cool contacts so don't come here and say they'll cost me 600g :P)). Which will make it look like this... More or less.

So, IMO, this is an insane hunter wep. <3 :P

Aye, went last night as 2h ImpSlam spec. I topped the damage meters with a WF shaman in our melee group, and counted for 4% of every other physical player's damage. The thing about having a melee group is that almost every class boosts another's DPS in some way. Our fury warrior usually gets benched for me nowadays.

Just to clarify; any hunter that rolls on this when a 2h PvE warrior or retribution paladin wants it and doesn't have it yet should retire from raiding =P
Yes the stats benefit every class that can wield this, but that's like saying that Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury should go to something other than a hunter. In similar ways, Thori'Dal benefits all classes that can use it immensely, but imagine if you were a hunter and a rogue won the roll for it over you.

Im laughing at the hunters using this weapon in the pictures. Let's hope that's just a PTR or private server they're in because any hunter using this sword (i dont want to use the word stupid) needs to learn what a stat-stick is. Even though it has 3 sockets, other weapons such as Shivering Felspine would benefit a hunter MUCH better.

Of course i could be wrong.

I think its that it has no strength bonus, but an outright attack bonus that gives it the illusion of being a hunter weapon. But its just that the bonuses it gives would be both more useful and USEABLE by an Arms warrior or Retaliation pally.

At 3.60, this weapon is slightly faster than Torch of the Damned, but has no haste rating to it. For a retribution Paladin, would the Torch of the Damned would be a better weapon?

Are you kidding me? This weapon screams HUNTER.
The large amount of AP and Crit, and the sense that there is only one primary stat Stamina.

I do think that if it were for a ret paladin it would have some form of Intellect or spell damage on it.
As for an Arms warrior, I can understand why he may want this but at that point it is a free throw of rolling.

If it were a hunter weapon it clearly would have agility, and if a melee DPS class has ever lost a roll to a you over a weapon like this, someone should slap you in the face.

Rofl, Ret paladins need spell power and intellect on their weapon. Right..

Too bad we now have one of the best spell regeneration mechanics in the game AND we get spell power based off of 30% of our AP. So the more AP we have the more spell power we get, which is why this is even further better for a Retribution Paladin and not a hunter.

The ONLY other class that deserves this weapon is a MS or TG Fury Warrior. But methinks there are better weapons near this level IF the said paladin or warrior is not hit capped.

I guess if you're a badly geared hunter then this is the weapon for you... otherwise there really are better weapons out there. I'm tired of this notion that hunters get that every single weapon besides casting and tanking is rightfully their weapon. I mean seriously Warriors and Paladins don't get AP from agility.. so we get weapons with AP and STR, and let the huntards get the agi weapons.

OBVIOUSLY there is no truly one side >the other in this issue, the reason why blizzard made it +crit /+ap as opposed to agi/+ap or STR/+crit is because they WANTED classes to be able to use similar item thus the lesser need for " going for specific loot" that might literally take weeks after weeks if not months of grinding the same boss over and over like in Pre-BC , so those that keep supporting one side needs to wise up that theres no true priority rolls except for arms warriors, ret pallies and hunters. (i.e. shamans don't use two handers).

roflmfao im a ret pally and if i ever lost a roll on this(if i was still raiding bc conten) i would go ape %^&* and to any hunter who enchants their wep witha MELEE enchant U R A RETARD hunters r pure ranged dps and should therefor use savagery greater savagery or superior agility. mongoose is a melee enchant and putting that on ur wep is almost as retarded as the hunter i saw the other day in dragonblight who had battlemaster on both his weps... cmon a 2k gold pure melee enchant thats just pathetic but any huntard rolling against a melee dps on this wep should be shot and in my opinion the best pre wotlk 2 yhander is apolyon but for now itts betrayer of humanity until frostmourne gets released

One thing about that comment - Hunters dont need Melee dmg, considering you do TONS more damage with a bow, unless you somehow run out of arrows or you use really bad arrows

hunters dont go need because of pure dps.they go because of stats.it has AP,cr and slots.perfect..

. Ret paladins and 2h PvE warriors benefit from every single part of this weapon, whereas a hunter wouldn't.

same goes for hunters.what you think becase we are on range we dont recive dmg,we dont need stamina?

Raided this place every week on my warrior during BC and this damn thing never dropped once.. Decided to get a few ppl from trade chat to run it and of course it drops 2nd run on my DK. Pretty sweet sword imo but i'm hoping for Cat's Edge soon

-Really- cool transmog item with a good set of red armor. Thankfully (for a warrior), the Tier 5 that drops in The Eye (Destroyer armor) matches rather nicely. Decently geared 85's can easily five-man the entire place without a healer. Shaman, Mage, Hunter, 2x Druid. Just did it tonight.

Yea, 18% drop rate is a total lie. Considering I've been farming this on and off since this was current content and still have never seen it drop. the last 39 weeks straight have garnered nothing but every other piece of loot this guy drops, minus the sword and the mount. The 18% drop rate definitely needs to be updated to something that actually resembles truth.

After doing more than 40 runs, this blade only dropped when Kael'thas decided to spawn a phoenix (after getting power fueled) and I killed him leaving the phoenix alive.
