Seething Black Dragonscale
Item Level 415
Binds when picked up
Equip: Your attacks and abilities have a chance to grant you ephemeral dragon wings, increasing your Critical Strike by 973 and your Leech by 275 for 15 sec.
Use: Call upon an echo of Neltharion's power to crash to the ground below you, dealing 20157 Shadowflame damage to nearby enemies if you have traveled at least 15 yards. (3 Min Cooldown)
well that on use seems like it would take some getting used to
So.. wrathion scale from nyolatha but kewler
Testing this out on PTR, you have to fall 15 yards after you use it. The activation can only be used while airborne and it immediately puts you into a straight descent down. Testing it with charge effects from the ground, I simply could not get it to do damage. I have no idea if this is how they intended it but I can't see the on use being practical in any fights. The actual proc itself has incredible uptime just autoattacking the training dummy so probably still an amazing trinket to have.
Got this on live today and I cannot for the life of me figure out if the on-use effect is supposed to be this...well, awkward? I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if it really does only work if you
15 yards. I'm not sure how you'd achieve that in most combat situations without doing some extreme parkour, as even though you can just jump and use it doing this doesn't result in any damage as you haven't travelled the 15 yards.
Having said that the proc happens often!
EDIT: after having asked in my class discord, general consensus is just equip it and forget it even has an on-use.
This is a refence / fusing of both the Rogue Daggers and Wrathion's Scale in it's on use/passive effect. Why it added leech to the stack of effects? Who knows but it's a nice little bonus.
Also the on use prevents fall damage, which is likely it's primary use, the damage would just be montage worthy if you killed someone with it.
"Very Rare" = 24% drop rate now guys. Sarcasm aside, my vault choice is affected by this...particularly when this is a free boss every week.
It really seems to be made for Dracthyr, demon hunters could use it as well. I have not yet tested it to see if the 15 yards has to do with air time before the use or after the use
if it takes you to your target
. Bosses that send you into the air like Dathea from DF 10.0 would be a great set up for this. If it can replace "grapple save" or "blink save" is unknown.
The +main stat and + ton of crit makes it a good trinket even if it is not considered a on use trinket.
Ps: it does not take to to your target.. you have to basically be over your target already.
I do believe it can be a "grapple save" if you use it as melee right after as you are effected by an ability that sends you into the air. It may not do much damage, or any but it will save you.
I cannot figure out how to deal dmg with the on use effect. super wierd, but the proc is super good on dh
From my understanding, despite this not being an on-use a lot of people can use it can still sim a lot better than other trinkets purely for the stats it provides, so make sure to sim it rather than just disregarding it because you can not use the ability. Also can be a neat ability to have in niche situations for things like the 2nd vortex pinnacle boss to get down to the ground faster.
Other people *cannot* see the wings.
Weird trinket. To use it, you have to jump and click it while in the air. Much easier then falling 15 yards, but you only damage mobs below you, so completely useless on use for ranged classes. I hope Blizz will change its mechanic or remove the use option completly.
This item is a perfect example of why tooltips need better and more detailed wording. "...if you have traveled at least 15 yards." From where? Since when? Horizontally or vertically? We shouldn't have to run a bunch of tests like it's a science experiment just to figure out exactly what a trinket does.
Кричащая чешуйка черного дракона
1. The Critical Strike and Leech proc.
This can proc from both damage and healing.
On a full run of Aberrus I had an average 51% uptime of the buff on boss fights.
The buff is called Screaming Flight and applies the visual effect of big see-through wings on your back, so you can see when it's active.
2. The on use effect.
The trinket can only be used while you are in the air.
Then used, you fall quickly towards the ground below you. If you fall more than 15 yards, the damage effect occurs.
This means that jumping, even a double jumping DH, can't get high enough in the air to make this trinket deal damage.
It might see a little use on fights, that have an ability that knocks players into the air, but those are few and far between.
The trinket can hit multiple enemies. I hit 3 enemies and each enemy took the full amount of damage written in the trinkets tooltip.
So; the on use effect is basically useless, since you can't use it.
The damage effect is called Screaming Descent.
3. Not just a dps trinket.
Since you will almost never have the chance to use the on use damage effect of this trinket, the only thing this trinket is good for, is it's proc of critical strike and leech.
Luckily, this proc is amazing!
the trinket is
equally good for dps, healer and tank
- if any tanks like crit.
4. Outdoor use of the trinket.
You can use the on use effect while flying old school mounts but not while dragonriding.
If you get dismounted in the air, you can use this trinket to land safely, as you do not take damage from the fall effect of this trinket.
The trinket seem to have a max range. If you are too high in the air, it will say "Target not in line of sight".
In order to use it you have to jump
Well, there is a way, to use it.
And add a tiny bit of dps.
In M+ on storming week - if you hit by storm, the height is enough to use trinket.
The Critical Strike and Leech buff is
Got it on my evoker, don't know how to use in any spec, tried with Deep Breath and Dream Flight, still not proc, kinda lame for a low drop rate trinket to function that way....
