i just got this and i truly don't get how you could get up to 25 stacks i've always peaked at 5.
It seems like this trinket, along with a few other cn trinkets, are designed so you group/party has multiple people running the same item. in this case at least 5, but more gets greater benefit. From what I can tell your allies share the stacks of the dmg boost.
This trinket applies a debuff to the target called Shattered Psyche.
The debuff increases damage of Shattered Psyche (the damage ability from trinket)
The trinket applies 1 stack per attack ( 5 attacks )
The max stacks using this trinket solo is 5 stacks or 5% increase damage of Shattered Psyche..
This trinket is designed to use with 4 other players at the same time.
the debuff on target will then increase for a max of 25 stacks
Tested this as fury/arms. Some findings..
Shadow dmg/debuff are only applied once per stack to the primary target, so attacks like WW will not deal extra damage to off targets.
Multi hit attacks and attacks and attacks using two weapons to hit simultaneously still only use one stack and deal the extra damage once, so you get the same amount of damage from a rampage as you would with any single hit ability.
Bladestorm is weird. It uses 4 stacks/shadow hits 4 times despite only being a single button press AND bladestorm hits 7 times total so I'm kind of confused as to why the trink only recognizes 4 of those hits rather than the one button press as is the case with every other ability, or simply using all 5 stacks on the first 5 hits. Makes me curious how it works with ticking channels like mindflay.
sweeping strikes has no interaction with it, still only affects primary target.
The mortal strikes cast by the unhinged legendary during bladestorm also do not use stacks or deal shadow damage.
Overall seems to be a very strong trinket for single target, and it's effectiveness will be multiplied by other players using it so it has the potential to do a staggering amount of damage if used properly.
Fully expecting blizz to neuter it in some way though given their track record of nerfing cool stuff but we'll see.
On my Beast Mastery Hunter I have noticed that this trinket doesn't activate its proc with kill command, barbed shot or auto attack while it does proc with cobra shot and multi shot. This seems like an error to me. Has anyone else noticed this?
This trinket doesn't seem to be able to be acquired by an Enhancement Shaman as it does not show up in the Dungeon Journal as of December 27th, 2020. This may or may not be a visual bug, and there is no other information about this issue online as far as I've looked up.
Edit: It can be acquired, but it just doesn't show up. So, that's good.
Any one have an idea for this trinket on Enh shaman was lil bit out performed others in simulation?
Does there any special mechanism?
Very easy to use trinket, as the buff timer is 30 seconds when activated, meaning even long boss transitions or walking between packs of mobs will still let you spend the remaining procs. Using this trinket will put your other on-use trinket on a 20 second cooldown.
This trinket has a 2 minute cooldown, whereas most other on-use trinkets have a 1.5 minute cooldown
, which will explain why simulations often say it will get outperformed by similar damage trinkets.
On my Outlaw Rogue, the heroic version of this trinket (ilv213) performs well, better than my ilv220 Decanter of Anima Charged Winds, which is considered a very strong trinket for my spec and class (albeit better at cleave than single target). But there's no ground breaking numbers.
To get the
effect out of the buff, you need six people, not five, as the fifth person will apply the 25th stack but not benefit from it, and a 6th person can enjoy an extra 450 ish damage per hit on the 25th stack for the heroic trinket. It's not worth stacking by the feel of it...
the damage buff only applies to the trinket damage? that doesnt seem worth the slot to me!
