It's good for PvE, but when it comes to PvP, I regret that Gnomish Death Ray is BoP (Gnomish stuff isn't much for PvP except for the Net-o-matic and the Death Ray itself).
Theoretically the gun can do some decent damage, but mostly you won't be able to target your enemies because the flame from the thrower turns very slowly, and it affects only like a 30 or 45 degree angle.
It's fun when it backfires though, your character starts running around caught in flames, and the flame turns all around you, so you can burn people around you much more effectively. It does some damage to you also, but this is compensated by the fact that when it backfires, it doesn't trigger a cooldown, just as most other Goblin things that can blow up.

With all the jumping around in PvP, this isnt the best for PvP.
But it's nice to scare some people in a capitol with it.
Great for Theatre on RP servers.

Eventually this is pretty worthless when it comes to practical uses in instances and especially PvP. It's easy for other players to figure out that they can step or jump out of the fire.
However, the geyser of flame is always pretty amusing as a way to get attention, and it has come in handy when helping out lower levels. This can pull a notable amount of aggro.

Problem is it brakes CC 'couse it's not DD. By creating the only problem's the fuel. Beside that it's a tinket with cooldowns so you can reuse it over and over again you create it soon, so the damage kinda "matters".

Well, atleast you don't have to look for a fire-extinguisher if it backfires. Just right-click the icon and it's gone. Why it's classified as a buff beats me though, i wouldn't concider catching fire as a good thing.

Using
The Fire Extinguisher
and you'd be thinking like an ogre.

Does this work on friendly players too? If so, it would be excellent for goldsellers :)

I just tried this in IF without any enemies nearby and it played the sound but I didn't see any flames. Can anyone confirm?

Does this also affect friendly targets in front of you? It doesn't say otherwise.

It's a flame thrower. It's made by goblins.
What more do you want?

One of my all time favorite weapons when used in combination with a "Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector",
especially in level 39 Arathi battleground.
My favorite player to use this against was rogues. They would hit my guy, and as soon as I could
I would cast my "Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector" and when it did not malfunction they would be caught in
the net and then I could step back just out of reach of their melee and click on the Goblin Dragon Gun (eat flame your dirty rogue! ha ha ha).
Edit:
(below is in response to a reply that has since been deleted asking how I was able to have both a Goblin Dragon Gun and Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector equipped):
Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector
"Binds when
equipped
" and "Requires Engineering (210) to use".
It does not require Goblin Engineering to
use
.
I simply had a Gnomish Engineer make one, put it in the trade window and click trade.
Note, it is possible to trade this item because as the tooltip says it "Binds when
equipped
".
If the tooltip said "Binds when picked up" then of course it would not be possible to trade this item.
Just because an item has "Gnomish" in the name, that does not mean it can only be used
by gnome engineers (sometimes it might). For example, the
Gnomish Cloaking Device
has "Gnomish" in the
name and yet (because in the tooltip it does not specify a specific type of engineering and because it binds when equipped) it can be used by either Goblin or Gnomish engineers
(note: I am 100% sure the Gnomish Cloaking Device can be used by Goblin engineers because I have used one with my Goblin Engineer). If you are unsure just read the tooltip for the item.
And for the record my player is and has always been a Goblin Engineer.

I'm a bit curious about this clever little trinket. Is it usable by non-engineers, I wonder? Though it is indeed Bind on Pickup, it does not specify whether or not it "Requires X Engineering" like most other engineering items do. As such, would one be able to pick up engineering, level it to 240, create the item, drop the profession, and still be able to use the trinket?
The use effect of the trinket mentions "...in front of the engineer using the weapon," so I am inclined to think that it might require one to maintain the skill in engineering to use it. Still, I cannot be one hundred percent sure whether or not it requires engineering to
use
. Can anyone else check/confirm this?
EDIT: I managed to level engineering and create this item. Dropped the profession, and I can still use this item. It's really neat for RP purposes, or just freaking out fellow raid members.

I can confirm that if you drop Engineering, you can still use this trinket. I just used it yesterday after not being an Engineer for months.

Doesn't seem to be capable of blowing up in your face anymore. Annoying, as in goblin engineering standards that means it is not working.
