Requirements

Pets vs. Pests - You have to upgrade your Garrison to level 3.

Pet-battle Ring - You have to upgrade your Garrison to level 3 and build Menagerie building.

Critters of Draenor - Nothing. It can be completed even in friend's Garrison.

Quests

Pets vs. Pests - Pets Versus Pests (Horde) or Pets Versus Pests (Alliance)

Pet-battle Ring (Rank 1-2) - Scrappin' (Horde) or Battle Pet Roundup (Alliance)

Pet-battle Ring (Rank 3) - Mastering the Menagerie (Horde) or Mastering the Menagerie (Alliance)

Critters of Draenor - Critters of Draenor (Horde) or Critters of Draenor (Alliance).

Fights availability

Pets vs. Pests - Fights are avaible only with quest. You can remove quest and start it again and again, but once you finalize this quest and Menagerie will be built, you can't return to this fights.

Pet-battle Ring - Fight against current enemy team is avaible whole time, you don't have to accept the quest. Quest is daily, but you can do these fights without quest just for XP reward for your leveling pet.

Critters of Draenor - Fight against current enemy team is available only with quest which is daily, account-wide and can't be removed after successful fight, so you can do it once per day. Questgiver may not be in your Garrison every day, try your other chars or Premade Groups in that case.

Pets vs. Pests - building Menagerie (Rank 1) and .

Pet-battle Ring (Rank 1-2) - 8x Pet Charms and .

Pet-battle Ring (Rank 3) - 1x Big Bag of Pet Supplies.

Critters of Draenor - 1x Traveler's Pet Supplies, 3x Flawless Battle-Training Stone and .

XP Reward for your leveling petPet battles in the Garrison were nerfed in 6.1.0 patch. Blizzard cut the difficulty, but also drastically reduced XP rewards. There were some minor changes in 6.2.0 patch too, biggest one was returning good XP reward for "Critters of Draenor" fights, but XP rewards in Battle-Ring are still brutally nerfed. A bit exception is Squirt's team (Immortals from Blizzard's game Diablo) with fair XP reward. Exact number of XP reward depends on leveling pet's level (largest amount of XP get pets with level around 10, whole tab you can see below). Most of these rewards are low, but on the other side, if you are looking for Pet Charms, why do these fights with 3x lvl 25 when your other pets can earn few more levels?

XP boostsThere are some items and buffs which may increase XP gained in battles:

Safari Hat (+10% = XP*1.10) from the achievement Taming the World

Lesser Pet Treat (+25% = XP*1.25) from Serr'ah or Lio

Pet Treat (+50% = XP*1.50) from Master Li, Serr'ah or Lio

Sign of the Critter (+200% = XP*3.00) during Pet Battle Bonus Event

You can have more buffs at the same time and their bonuses stack. For example Pet Treat during Pet Battle Bonus Event with Safari Hat equipped gives you 50%+200%+10% = 260% = XP*3.60. This is useful especially when you want to level your pets.

Low level pets

When you want XP for your pet, that pet must stand on the front line at the end of at least one round and stay alive till the end of this fight. There is no problem with high level pets, but some low lvl pets can't survive even one round. There are some special mechanics for that reason:

Blocking objects: , , , ... Use some of these spells and then swap for XP pet. It will be shielded by this object.

Swapping abilities: , , , ... These abilities block hostile attack and swap another pet into the front line before the end of that round, so you can swap back in the next round without any damage for XP pet. Use this when your 2nd pet lvl 25 is dead, because these abilities check HP.

Stunning abilities: , , , , ... Stun your enemy and feel free to swap for XP pet, because enemy will be swapping stunned pet it the next round too.

Enemy's boosting spells: , , ... There are many abilities that don't do damage. If you know the exact round, when enemy uses them, you can swap for XP pet in that round.

Pet's death: Bring XP pet into the battle when your lvl 25 pet dies. This "swap" is after attack but before the end of that round, so XP pet doesn't recieve any damage and you can swap it out in the next round.

On the othere side, there are lots of problems with XP pets during swapping them into the front line and even in the back line.

Swap in the 1st round: When you start fight with your XP pet, you can't swap it in the first round, because pet have to be in the front line during end of the round. You have to do at least 1 attack or press "pass" with it and swap in the 2nd round.

AoE spells: , , , , ... These spells don't hit your pets very hard, but hit them all, so your XP pet needs some HP to survive it. In my guide, you can see how much damage suffer your XP pet during fight (counted without critical hits).

DoT spells with target "area" or "active pet": , , ... When you swap pets, these spells continue in damaging your active pet in the front line. Beware to swap for XP pet when these spells are active.

Reflexive shields: , , ... It is better to press "pass" than attack against these shields with your XP pet.

Swap blockers: , , , ... You can't swap pets when this effect is active.

There is probably no chance to lose this fight.

You can't use as in the other "Pets vs. Pests" fights, because Gorefu's opening ability is causing big problem for your Leveling Pet. This effect can be blocked by but your Leveling Pet will not be shielded against the next Gorefu's attack. On the other side, with taxed and full HP, Gorefu surely use weak which can survive even lvl 1 pet.

You can do this fight faster with stronger Leveling Pet. Just start with Leveling Pet, "pass", swap for Royal Moth and finish this fight. Damage taken for your Leveling Pet will be about 400 damage - .

Damage taken 0 dmg for is correct, because these pets ignore all negative weather effects, so will be ignored and stays against attack.

Grubbles can die too fast with two critical hits from and you will not be able to swap Flayer Youngling for Leveling Pet when Scrags enters the battle ( continues). There is a really small chance (exactly 0.18%) that Jahan survives the second round. You will need more to kill Samm in that case, but still you surely win.

Samm dies by the final hit of rarely. You will have to use before against Archimedes due to skipped in that case.

Sometimes "bugs happens" and Jahan dies in the first round although the maximum damage from should be 1460] ((487+162)*1.5*1.5 (strong attack and critical hit)). Problem is, that you probably kill all enemies by one in that case without any chance to swap for Leveling Pet.

You hit 11 times together till the end of the 4th round (direct damage and DoT). Tirs survive with 150 and casts second in the 5th round. But even a single critical hit (direct damage or DoT) is enough to kill it in the 4th round and damage taken for Leveling Pet is reduced: 126 dmg (83 dmg or 186 dmg).

Dear players, let me introduce my new pet-battle guide.
This guide can help you with all pet-battles in your garrison and allow you leveling your pets during these fights. I was in hurry to release this guide before end of this year, because these days have ideal conditions for leveling your pets. I hope that this guide will be at least such successful as my previous Celestial tournament guide.

One of the best spot for leveling your Battle Pets is Squirt team (Immortals) in your Garrison during Pet Battle Bonus Event. Fight is easy, fast, repetable and with bonuses from Event / PetFood / Hat / Darkmoon you need only few battles to rise your pet's level to the maximum.

But it happens only few times per year (Immortals are spawned 1x per 15 days and Event is 1x per 7 weeks). I count for you when this happens in next two years:

Amazing guide! I would probably never really start doing garrison pet battling without this guide. However as this guide is really simple to follow while preparing you for every possible situation at the same time, I can pet battle in my garrison like a pro. I did read also the Celestial tournament guide that I am going to follow and try to get all this battle pets asap.
I just starting to play around with pets so all this colours all this details, links where to find etc etc its just fantastic.

Really nice guide it helped me a lot to find the right pets :)
One suggestion, for Beakinator and Quintessence, I used a Nether Faerie Dragon (2/2/1), and it could solo both flying pets :) It can be obtained through pet battle, and it's a pretty awesome pet against flying

Great guide. But since I didn't have the recommended pets for the Beakinator, I soloed the Beakinator with my Arcane Eye (lvl 25 rare P/S - obtained through pet battle in Deadwind Pass) instead. Use Drain Power, followed by Mana Surge then Focused Beams. Reapply Drain Power then finish off with Focused Beams. RNG of course comes into play, but the Arcane Eye is a powerful pet against flying pets. Have another high level magic pet as backup in case RNG lets you down.

Heya mate, thnx for all the effort you put into testing these team set-ups and making the guide.
One question though.
They changed the pandaren water spirit. So geyser and whirlpool can't be used at the same time.
I now use water jet, healing wave and whirlpool.

But i would like your opinion, what to do.
