I'm just saying...wouldn't that be nice? LOL.
it would not be nice and it's more than a little short sighted to think that it would.
-you can't dodge while casting.
-we have high threat abilities - searing pain - but we don't have high threat abilities that scale off stats that are necessary for tanking (resilience and stamina in our case)
-blizz have said very often that they don't want to offer so many ermanent forms. they don't even like druids staying in one form constantly.
-we had one tank class. in tbc blizz allowed 3 tank classes. in wrath they added a 4th. this, they have said, has been a constant source of difficulty and a constant source of player disgruntlement. i very much doubt they're interested in getting into that again.
if you want to do it for fun then go and read the sticky (i know right?) on it. don't look for it to ever be taken seriously because it won't.

I'd like to see affliction also being raid healing. Could make Siphon life heal raid Equal to 2x the amount of damage you do with corruption as well as having haunt cause a healing aura to other players while its on. Maybe even have health funnel targetable on players :)

You joke, but I was talking to a friend of mine about ways to make healing more interesting. We thought about a new class where their healing is done by damaging the boss/mobs. Think something like Shadowpriest Vampiric Embrace but being a viable healing source. Depending on what spell you cast, the spell could do a Wild Growth kind of effect, or a direct damage spell could do direct tank healing by way of a Beacon of Light kind of buff to direct the single target heals.
And ever since Oculus, the idea for a healing class that uses a health funnel form of healing has been kicking around in my head. For this new class, maybe not a channel from Player to Player, but the healer sets up a channel from the boss to a target.
Anyway, sorry for butting in off topic...

no.. just no... warlocks are a pure dps class.. not a healer class..
wanna roll a hybrid that can heal? there's druids, priests, shamans, and pallies.

All Healing classes Feel like playing whack-a-mole.
You get your healing UI addon to show you who is taking damage, When Damage pops up you whack it back down.
Priest plug the Mole's holes with Hammers before the mole tries to come up. (shields)
Shamans have a magic hammer that hits 3 holes at one time and changes to mach the holes. (chain heal)
Druids place auto hammers over all the holes that slam down every 2 or 3 sec.(Hots)
Pallys get one fast hammer, and a duplicate hammer that gets paced over one hole.(FoL and BoL)
Warlock’s would feel very different.

you can't use the whack-a-mole analogy and then twist it to try and include shields and HoTs. shields and HoTs are the antithesis of whack-a-mole healing. paladins are classic reactive healers and even they have abilities like beacon that make things far more interesting.
really, how can anyone take arguments like this seriously if you don't understand current healing mechanics.

I have a Resto Druid and a Holy Priest, Both bring back child hood memories of my beloved arcade game. Please do not attack my intelligence if you just fell I am discrediting the role of healers as I am not. Both Shields and hots are just predictive Wack-a-mole.
PvE Healing has a constance incoming damage with predictable burst (large games of whack-a-mole).
PvP Healing has semi predictable Burst, But PvP healers seem to truly have a roll of tanking as every one wants you dead. (Fast whack-a-mole where you can cc the moles!)
.
to the OP, I did Lock tank in a few Heroics, PUGs are impossible to tank, DPS will not wait for you to grab aggro, then blame you for them pulling.

i'm not saying that the "whack-a-mole" analogy isn't valid. i'm saying that shields and HoTs do not fit that analogy. it seemed that your argument was that all current healing is the same so something different would be good.
well, all healing is not the same and describing everything in terms of moles and hammers doesn't make the point you're going for ^_^

I think healing classes do feel too simlar, Priest use Direct heals. Blizz keep buffing nurish and nerffing lifebloom pushing drect healing. Both are reactive, both wack-a-mole. Shelids and hots are still similler to wack-a-mole.
Now I want a UI addon to turn my raid frames in to holes, as people take damage moles will emerge out of the holes.

rejuvenation is THE primary resto druid spell. in fights like twins or hodir it does 75% of my healing!
nourish does less than 5%
even when i'm tank healing i regrowth > rejuve and start slowly stacking LBs.
i am not whacking any moles i am trying to pre-empt damage taken and get a HoT in place. really the analogy there is spinning plates.
having said all that i think there's a valid argument that healing could be more varied and fun than it currently is but the answer is NOT to give healing to warlocks... clearly. the answer is to look at ways to make healing more fun
for the healers

yes yes yes, Druids use Hot for most of our healing. Yet, when main tank healing my nourish makes up closer to ~15% to 20% of healing done.
Regrowth > Swift-mend > nourish is where saveing the MT really is (aka - direct healing; aka - whack-a-mole) yet, WG does have grate HPS
In BGs regrowth > Swift-mend > nourish is the only way to really save someone on the receiving end of burst damage. (not arena)
I am saying in the last few patches the Druid class has started on a move taking them closer to direct healing,
I want my Whack-a-mole themed healing addon!
