Well if you can run Burning Crusade with any reliability, it's fairly safe to say you'll be able to run Wrath of the Lich King. There are some new effects but you can probably compensate by toning down the graphic options.

With only 1G of RAM, and a few add-ons running with WoW too, it's easy to use all of your memory and be lagging with your computer looking for a free space to put new stuff. Another Gig of RAM would probably be the cheapest and best upgrade to start with
