Anyone got some numbers regarding class popularity for tanks?
I am guessing:
Pala
Warr
DK
Druid or Monk?
It would be nice to get some %s.

Have you heard of Google?
Why do you think I am asking here? -.-
None of the search results had the info I was looking for.

Numbers are a hard thing, since you can easily change spec. Why do you want just numbers or %s? Are you looking to be a tank? Or just trying to win a bet to see how many are playing which class?

Nah I am just curious. I knew it was a long shot to expect actual numbers.
I am surprised DKs are that popular.
I already have (or should I say "had") a prot warrior. Was thinking of going for 1 of the least played classes...

Really? I would think DKs would be the main choice mostly because they start at 60 and even in tank form they can deal a huge amout of damage.

Well I have being on hiatus; didn't remember seeing that many DKs back then :P
Then again I was always tanking, so didn't get a chance to many tanks in PUGs.

Dks are indeed one of the most popular tank classes for several reasons.
A: they start at lvl 58 cutting away a lot of the leveling involved.
B: Their damage output is ridiculously high, they're only surpassed by brewmaster monks but monks have other flaws that make them unpopular.
C: They are perhaps one of the greatest solo classes in the game, there is very little a DK can't solo To be more accurate, there are only 3 raid bosses in this game that a DK can't solo. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) else is doable.
D: From an aesthetic point of view they get a lot of uniqueness among other classes (Unique voices, glowy eyes, unique skins, unique character selection screen etc)
E: Easier to learn. Note that Dks aren't inherently better at being tanks than other tanks, but the learning curve for 5mans is significantly easier.

As a healer this is what I see most in order of popularity:
1 - DK
2 - Bear druid
3 - Paly
4 - Monk
5 - Warrior
Don't know why warrior so low, used to be the best. Monks are really a pain to heal (sorry!). DK's heal a lot. I regularly see them doing 30% overall healing. Bear tanks played proper, take very little damage. These 2 are my faves to heal.

I think the main reason Monks are underrepresented is because this is really the first expansion where leveling was a pain, especially for alts.
DKS started at 58, and from beta we knew they were OP, so many people jumped on them right away as their ´main´.. But it took a lot of dedication (and hope) to start over with a monk as a new main. First, they were never OP tanks in beta, so there wasn´t that huge reason to use them, and secondly, the leveling process was now 1-90 until you could join your guild group. That was a lot of progress you were behind everyone else if you wanted to make the switch. There just was not a good reason for any progression guilds to want to wait for a monk tank.

i have 4 tanks and OMG I so agree with the last poster! DK is not only the easiest but most fun! the monk is pretty fun to I like the way he hops around doing his kung fu. im not sure I agree with the typical comments that they are to "squishy" I think the mobility makes up for that if its played correctly but DK hands down

I think monks never was need to tank because in lore they cloth wear and be gentle and not tank, fight with pure fist. Scarlet monestea for example many monks there.
DK is good tank like warrior and paladin.
Druid is kindo good too because they are popular and good.
Popularest tanks are paladin and dk to my mynd.

From a healer's standpoint:
DK
Pally
Druid
Warrior
Monk
DKs are on top because their off-spec Frost DK training (off-spec training is the key to be a great tank) makes them very active tanks that are used to using their self-heals, CDs and keeping Vengeance high. That furious play style Frost DK offers (much more active that Rets) also ensures they hold aggro hard (I have never seen a raid level DK have an Time Warped Arcane Mage pull aggro from them. Lower level DKs do have an aggro/survival problem, but at 90, they are the top tank for raiding both in self-healing; threat; and DPS).
Paladins are 2nd best due to their self-healing, but they have to spec more into threat to hold it, as the training with even Ret isn't as active as Frost DK (Paladins are so limited by mechanics now, so it's not exactly the fault of the tank itself in that regard).
Druids can have a problem is maintaining threat, but they can be the most friendly tank ever for a healer in a pinch (if experienced). When mechanics has healers running 4 different ways, Druid tanks I feel safest in not being dead before running back (and not because of their higher HP, but form shifting to get out of Dodge when others are compromised).
Warriors can maintain high aggro (again due to their melee off-specs that offer great training to play a tank) but of all tanks their survivability is the lowest. They are a healer's worst nightmare if OoR.
Monks are newer and not dealing with them much (and the fear of their newness and how Blizzard loves to put 20 fingers in a pie for a new race/class) if I had a choice, I'll take a Warrior over them, as at least I know what to expect.

This really is a how long is a piece of string question.
What would you personally find more use?
Dwarfs - Damage reduction debuff removal
Human and Gnome - Instant remove snare and fear
Draenei - HoT
Night Elf - Increased Dodge 2%
Worgen - less nature and shadow damage
Orc - Reduced stun duration
Troll - Stun and snare reduction and passive 10% HoT
Blood Elf - Chance to dodge magic damage increased and a AoE silence
Tauren - Less nature damage, A stun and a 5% health pool boost
Undead - Snare removal, Less shadow damage, and a self heal.
