+ pet beholder
+ dragon
+ hearthstone
+ spaceship (something from EVE, perhaps the
Hyperion
,
Corax
or the utilitarian
Orca
)...
+ ...with a Mind from the Culture universe as A.I.
+ Ioun Stone
+ tech tool from Mass Effect series
+ Adam Jensen's coat from DE:HR (hell, give me his entire wardrobe)
I'm with Rankkor on a lightsaber being impractical. I'm also with Rankkor on getting Element Zero to make me a biotic assuming it works that way but I'm not sure whether to be proud or embarrassed of the fact that the most obvious use I could think of for it would be to put my coffee machine somewhere I can see it and make coffee without leaving my PC.

No communicators? Invisibility cloaks?
The Dragonballs, and or the Triforce.
I don't think you can buy those. I wouldn't mind investing into a DB martial arts training class though.

#317- What's your shopping list of fictional items? Pets or mounts count too.
Mothership from SC2 (counts as a *mount*) with an infinite amount of resources required to power it and simplified instructions to operate it.
Light-bending field (cloaking device of any sort)
Heat redirection field (anti-heat seeking device)
Neuralyzer
The tuxedo from "The Tuxedo" (or equivalent)
The medallion from "The Medallion" (both halves - or equivalent)
Portable wormhole or other instant transportation device to anywhere and everywhere I can think of.
A Staff of the Magi
The fictitious device that allows me to cause harm to other users through the Internet through any non-lethal method (preferably electric shock).
Every costume item from World of Warcraft. EVERY. ONE.
Лисенок
Cloning device of any sort (think from the Fifth Day or whatever)

Communicator? I already turn off my cellphone when I can't be arsed anwering my mother's calls...
And if I got a spaceship that could wipe out virtually any army on earth with impunity, what'd I'd do with an invisibility cloak besides things that are downright creepy?

+ entire Adam Jensen's wardrobe and armory, not the augs.
+ entire Sherlock Holmses wardrobe
+ entire Sweeney Todd's wardrobe + razors
+ entire Squall Lionheart's wardrobe + gunblades
+ entire Ezio Auditore's wardrobe and armory
+ entire Connor Kenway's wardrobe and armory
+ a real lightsaber
+ the bow that Katniss Everdeen had in the The Mockingjay (tuned to my voice instead of hers, naturally)
+ the sniper rifle that the chick in Gurren Lagann had
+ a shotgun manufactured by the Tediore company
+ the sword and mask from Dishonored
+ a nano suit
+ stealth camo packs from Metal Gear Solid (in case I'd be lazy to wear my nano suit and would want to be invisible)
+ an Iron Man suit (which wouldn't require replacing my heart with a risky energy source)
+ the badass "old school" car that James Bond had at the end of Skyfall
+ the car from the movie "The Transporter"
+ Jenner and Cyclops class mechs from the Battle Tech franchise
+ EVA 01 mech (that would not drive me insane, and would not be made of... nevermind, no spoilers)
+ the pocket dimension thing from the movie "Ultraviolet"
+ the machine from Matrix that they used to learn various skills almost instantly
Alright... I think I am done.
lightsabers may be cool, but they're very impractical weapons. A wrong move, even a teeny tiny mistake and you can slice yourself in half.
I'd never dare to switch one on if I wasn't a jedi or sith.
You'd be surprised by how much of a danger it is to use a normal sword. The only difference between a sword and a lightsaber is that with a sword, you only cause huge gushing wounds to yourself, while with a lightsaber, you cut through your flesh completely. The second one might sound scarier, but in both cases, basic traning teaches you to handle the weapon in a manner that is not self-destructive (At least as far as I can assume for lightsabers. I actually did historical fencing in the past, specialized on bastard swords and daggers. Never swinging in a way which would put the blade anywhere in close contact to my body is second nature to me.).

You sure? I'm an expert at wielding a machete, as well as knives, and I've never caused myself any real injury. Plus, a simple cut (no matter how clumsy you are you can't cause sufficiently dangerous self-harm to permanently cripple yourself, well, except for maybe real sharp double-edged bastard swords or claymores) is in no way as dangerous as complete amputation or decapitation.
Besides, the real danger of a lightsaber is that the cutting part of the weapon is weightless, unlike a real edged weapon, thus simple momentum won't keep the sharpie part away from you, and its pretty easy to just slice yourself off just by waving it around. At least with a Machete, the weight of the blade can be used in your favor to prevent or minimize self-damage.
Also, I can't believe I didn't thought about the matrix machine to learn everything in a few seconds.
Now that you mentioned it, I think I'd LOVE to have an Animus on my home :P So I can relive the memories of my ancestors. I'm pretty sure I must have some badass warriors on my bloodline.

I must say I slightly ruled out the possible cuts you can get from "just waving it around" and from "trying to wave it around in a cool-entertaining manner". If I had a lightsaber, I would use it exclusively as a weapon, and not as a tool for acting up all badass.
I did consider the weightlessness of the blade, but in the sets of slashes and parries that I trained, that would not be a problem, it would only increase the speed at which you could perform them. And in neither of the excercises, the blade gets anywhere close to your body. The only techniques that would be dangerous are the ones where you parry by holding the handle with one hand, and supporting the blade with the other hand -> obviously.
Now that I think of it though, a lightsaber would not be a very good weapon for swordfighting -> since if you parried a melee attack from any current melee weapon, you would completely sever a part of the weapon, with a high likelihood that the severed part will hit your body. And to be honest, I am way too used to having a hilt on my sword, it can be used for various disarming and hooking techniques.

Not to mention that the severed part of the weapon you just sliced off, would be a super-heated chunk of metal coming your way.
I dunno, at least for my fighting style (I haven't had any formal training, mostly self-picked up techniques from different places I've been) a weightless weapon that can cause permanently crippling injuries or instantaneous death, just by touching it, would be far more dangerous than practical.
I'll have to admit that despite being highly unpractical weapons IRL, lightsabers are pretty damned absolutely cool. Specially double-bladed ones.
