ok so little backstory im a mainspec mut rogue with pretty good gear just offspecced combat because i got a nice sword drop. i've been playing with the spec and YES I SPREADSHEETED before you all send me to the sticky lol but i still have a few questions.
first off heres me:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Auchindoun&n=Vallaine
in my mut spec i average just over 3k dps unbuffed with poisons but in heroics i typically pull 2.6-3k ish over the span of the run. i can get up to about 4 at times with my full rotation on bosses.
my combat spec feels weird. popping cooldowns ive seen as high as 4k unbuffed with no poison but in a typical heroic i average about 2.2k and i can spike high on boss mobs.
like i said before i spreadsheeted and it tells me to do a ruptureless evis only rotation. on a boss i usually open with garrote then 2 SS killing spree(while energy recovers) SS then pop my adrenaline rush SS till 5 pts SnD blade flurry then SS and evis. primary focus is keeping SnD on the target at all times and just rotating between SS and evis. now at the start of a fight my dmg peaks very high but like i said overall it tends to be lower than my mut spec mostly on trash. is there anything im doing wrong? aside from having a very !@#$ty MH weapon? lol any imput would be great

not spreadsheet, but stickies. it's all there.
for combat ruptureless, a rotation doesn't exist. just spam SS keepèing up SnD and refreshing it at <2 sec. if you have 5 combo and you don't need to refresh it, Eviscerate.
and i managed to do 6k dps in heroics, 3k is what i pulled when i was fresh 80 (and 2.6k what i pulled into BT at 70).
and i am an average rogue, there are much more skilled rogue in here.

i may have to respec again then =P never noticed the haste effect of lightning. but endurance is a necessary evil to even reach the 15 pts talents being that i dont use daggers or fist in my combat CQC is pretty useless. single target bosses like i said i can burst up to 5k+ in 5 mans much more if im buffed but the spreadsheet pointed me towards ruptureless. but by comments i might get more out of using it. any opinions of rupture vs ruptureless? im gonna respec to get the lighting as soon as i get online hehe
edit:
putting 3 pts into lightning reflexes puts an extra talent into combat that i didnt have before. can someone link me a good spec that doesnt involve CQC?
edit2:
lol apparantly only i only need 1 pt switched to reach the 15 talents. im thinking 2% parry > 2% stam pve yes?

wow great info! i tested on dummies and im roughly 4k unbuffed popping cooldowns. i have a couple questions on your input if you dont mind =)
why do you use wound MH instead of instant? expecially with the new poison proc change wouldnt the higher dmg if the instant be more dps?
and on your talent points if the rotation is SnD enven why bother with the 2 pts in blood splatter? maybe throw those over to sub for 4/5 relentlessness? or should i be throwing in ruptures? im relatively new to combat so i was kinda surprised when the sheet told me to cut it out altogether i didnt thing my gear was that good yet =P

Warning: Wall of text inc...
You can put 5 points in either hack and slash or mace depending on your weapons.
Your rotations:
2SnD/5Envenom very straight forward
SLOW Main Hand weapon (Speed > 2.5) Using Wound Poison
FAST Offhand weapon (Speed < 1.8) Using Deadly Poison
if there's 2 or more mobs and u want some burst DPS, use Blade Fury AND Killing spree together. In heroics/raids, when i open with that, i can post 8-9k on trash mobs.
MAKE SURE YOU CAST TRICKS on the tank or u will pull aggro and die shortly thereafter.
H&S vs. Maces depends on what weapons you have and your gear...use a spreadsheet to determine which is best for you.
Slow MH w/ Instant Poison and fast OH w/ Deadly Poison in most cases, though there are some fights for which you may want to change poisons. You will also benefit most from 2 of the same weapon type...that is sword/sword for combat sword spec, not sword/dagger or sword/fist. This is a general rule that applies to most, but not all, rogues. You have to use a spreadsheet to determine if you are an exception & should be mixing maces w/ cqc.
Combat daggers is not a viable spec...don't do it. If you want 2 daggers, that is what mut. is for IMO.
I would highly recommend against 2SnD/5Envenom cycle. This will take your DP stacks off the boss (boss dps is what really matters most). No DP stacks (not 5 stacks actually) on the boss means no IP procs from OH & lost DP ticks. This is generally considered a bad idea I think. The ruptureless cycle is generally SnD if about to fall off, otherwise 5pt Evis. CDs & trinkets are situational, use them when it makes sense.
TotT on the tank is a good idea going into a fight to give them a healthy threat lead, however provided your tank can hold aggro well enough, TotT on a DPS is a better idea during the fight. Doing this gives that DPS a 15% dmg buff which is HIGHLY useful to the raid, so keep TotT up on them; even better if the other dps is a rogue & you TotT each other.
As far as a combat spec build,
here
is what i am using.

i resently respecced heres a new link to my armory:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Auchindoun&n=Vallaine
and i picked up a new MH quel'delar ftw =) ive been tryin out the the teqniques posted mainly the tricks +blade flurry/killing spree. its making a huge jump in my heroic dps. my boss dps just generally rose because of the weapons and the haste from lightning reflexes is indespensable i cant believe i missed that the first time.
i just checked outt hat spec you posted do you find that the 4/5 instnat and 1/3 vile makes up more dmg than the 8% remorseless attacks? i think the 3/3 i have in vile is a little unecessary seeing as how i use evis over envenom. im also thinkin i should've gone 3/3 evis instead of ruthlessness. thoughts?
edit: just noticed something else you mentioned a 2 SnD/5 evis cycle thats interesting ive never thought of that ive usually saved for 4/5 SnD how easy is it to build the 5 pts for that evis in the 2 SnD window?

First, gratz on the Quel'Delar...I haven't even seen the hilt drop & as far as I'm concerned it's a myth that it drops at all...of course one of our warriors has it, but I choose to live in denial until i see it myself...lol.
In general, you want SnD up at all times...start it up at how ever many CP makes the most sense to you really imo, and remember that this is affected by things like hit rating & positioning. In heroics, for me, this typically means as soon as possible as the mobs die too quickly to get a 4CP SnD off; but keeping it up is a primary priority.
You want a 5CP evis
IF
SnD will stay up long enough to be able to refresh it, otherwise refresh SnD. Getting a 5CP Evis on a 2CP SnD is situational and you have to test whether that is cutting it too close for you...theory is one thing, but results are what really matters and this is one of the things best figured out in raid. 3CP is generally safer until you find your sweet spot.
Often, my opener is: TotT tank, 2CP SnD, use MoS, KS, 3-4CP SnD, AR, 5CP Evis, 5CP Evis. After that, I stick to the general ruptureless combat cycle. This would be a simplified case of the tank&spank boss obviously.
FYI, when using Blade Flurry, I usually opt for a higher CP SnD before Blade Flurry...I want to ensure that SnD will not need to be refreshed during BF.
Yes, 4/5 Improved Poisons > 3/3 Vile for combat; and if you are going for a ruptureless build, I would definitely pick up 3/3 Improved Evis since that is your primary burst finisher.
This is what has proven to be the highest DPS in practice for me with my gear...your mileage may vary.

Because you never Envenom without Master Poisoner, which you can't reach as Combat.

thanks ^^ yea the quel was a MUCH needed improvement over that crappy toc mace i was weilding lol that alone shot my dps through the roof. im finally gettin comfortable with my combat build. im playing around with my SnD timer. and my rotation has been improving. i peaked at 8.4k in a 25 man VOA and 7k in a 10 man toc =D
got another question since u guys have been so helpfull. i spreadsheeted my new stuff and it advises me to go AP gems over agi. im sitting at about 38 crit so i still tend to favor the agi a little more and theres no way im re-gemming all my gear to straight AP but i have a couple cardinals in the bank for my next upgrades that im debating wether to start gemming the AP or stickin with the agi. thoughts?
