Engineering belt enchants: Do they remove the BS socket?

Just as the title says: Do the engineering tinkers remove the socket made by the BS crafted item? An engineering friend of mine told me it does, but the WoWHead profiler tells me I'm missing an enchant (unless it just doesn't know it removes the socket).
