"They are easy to find. I found them here, where they spawn every one to two minutes. Their name is Shadowguard Voidthief. Make a target macro and fly around – that makes it faster. /way #2371 43.41, 50.95

When I trap a Shadowguard nothing happens. How do you collect the Void Markings?

You have to use the quest item to trap the enemies, and then click on them to extract the mark.

Some can be found right at the phase portal /way 49.91, 48.71
Really a lot at /way 43.16, 55.86
and over the shore, but many other hostile mobs too.

Shadowguard Portalseer
Shadowguard Voidthief
Shadowguard Mindbender

Exctracting mark is a cast, but several marks can be withdrawn from the same mob. Although stun may be useful for group of mobs, since quest trap has 15 secs CD :/

used quest item Containment Trap on Shadowguard Portalseer & Shadowguard Voidthief while they are gathered in a small proximity so the trap capture all of them (usually 4 in total). They will be trapped and become clickable. Extract and run away. Can be annoying if some are not trapped, I use CC and crowd control or wait until item cooldown is refreshed to use again (8sec).

You can prison more than one mob at a time if they are close enough together

Much like a similar quest in Zereth Mortis back in Shadowlands, you can extract a marking from the same mob multiple times if you target something else during the gathering cast. I was able to collect all 8 markings from a single ethereal this way.

Just like the other quests in this quest chain its awful designed. First I didnt know I have to throw it on living not dead ethereals and then I noticed the obnoxious long CD on the item. FYI I am a rogue, I just want to stealth, blind, sap my way through it in under a minute, but noooo have to wait 20 seconds until the item is usable again and the other mobs already come out of stasis. Just why? Every quest in Karesh is so tedious and a lesson in patience. I cant stand this @#$% anymore!

Description

A Marking Matrix must be attuned to the frequency of the void energies wielded by the Shadowguard. You must obtain samples of that energy. My containment Trap is designed to capture Shadowguard and allow you to extract the void markings tied to their corrupted energies. With those markings I can create a matrix to help attune your creation to work on void powered constructs.
