The gear from this quest appears to scale with your level.

if you do not complete the quest before this one (called Who am I?) you can just walk to the end of the starting zone and take the portal to your capital city. the door to the Bulwark of Authorization is locked (the room with the fiery robot quest mob), so you will need to someone else to pick up the quest to open it for you. this shouldn't be a problem since earthen are new, and plenty of people are making some, but might be if you're playing late at night, and no one else is around.

once you're done leveling you can come back, do the quest and get gear, as a level 70 Rogue I received item level 366 Chest, Shoulders, Gloves, Belt, Pants and Boots. the weapons did NOT scale, both daggers and both hand axes I received were item level 16.

If for whatever reason you want another set, you can abandon the quest and get another set later, but you'll have to delete the original set first, and you will also need a way out of the Hall of Awakening, if you want to get a second or third set after, since the portals will no longer work after you complete the "Who am I?" quest, until you complete rest of the starting zone. The Dalaran, or Garrison Hearthstones will work if you haven't moved your hearthstone out of the Hall of Awakening, and you can also use Mage portals / teleports if you are a mage, or you could use Wormhole Generators for Engineers.

this might be useful for anyone who decides to level their earthen using the racial discovery XP buff, since you wouldn't get any gear from flying around, and it covers a few slots that heirlooms don't. this way you can get a couple pieces of gear for free without having to quest while naked, or spend gold on the auction house (for a few slots anyway), which should help you fill out the rest of your slots.

This might not be very useful if you leveled through quests or dungeons, since you would have gear already, but I think it's still pretty cool to know.
