This quest contains many references to The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. The Shadow Rising is the name of one of the books in the series, and Old Grim and Heartfang are names for the Dark One.

the quest giver is actually at 40.5, 54.7 just outside the west gate of Mereldar.
