Do not waterwalk (or anything else that keeps your character above the water surface for longer than the blink of an eye) when the Ambitious Fish is with you. It will try to follow and despawn when it leaves the water (the intended waterfall scaling aside).

Extra Action Button ability Brave Bubble is disabled while in combat, so you can't ignore Territorial Skimmers or ambushing Opportunistic Somnowls you're in combat with.

Kind of an interesting quest. Try and kill the water striders before you try and ascend each waterfall. Find the fish to the west of the first waterfall, then approach each one and get near the moving water and a new action button will appear. Click the button and keep going east until you get all three waterfalls.

How to do:
- get fish
- go to waterfall
- use bubble to ascend.
- repeat
Also: kill creatures on the way, avoid using water walking spells/skills

If you're doing this quest as a druid and can fly, my best advice is to do it in no form. if you're in aquatic form you can accidently jump out the water and fly. If you do you'll need to go back to where the Ambitious Fish was and start over again as the extra action button will disappear.

- Find the fish and click it
- The fish will remain where it is, but a new one will follow you
- Swimm to target area and use extra button for bubble
- Kill attackers
- Repeat unitl end

~~Worst. Quest. Ever.~~. Correcting - wasn't very intuitive, especially for a druid who likes to fly/swim in a hurry. Find fday's comment - works great! I flew to the waterfall after clicking on the fish, and the bubble button never appeared. So this time I completed it easily by not flying.

There are three waterfalls to scale, so that part isn't too bad. It would be easier if I clear out those sections before getting the fish. But I couldn't find the extra button with Elvui enabled. So with that turned off, it's a pain to battle bugs with my normal hotkeys disabled. Ugh.

Click the Ambitious Fish around /way Emerald Dream 36.5 61 Ambitious Fish
Go to the marked waterfall on lake level; do not fly.
Use the extra action button (Brave Bubble) to bubble up the waterfall.
Repeat 2×; kill adds, because the button won’t work in combat.

the fish is at 36.46, 61.12. You need to click the fish to initiate the quest

After that, simply go to the spot circle on minimap and use the extra button to hop up.

It's worth noting that you will get attacked by mobs, including a very annoying owl which spawns everytime you scale the second waterfall. Taking damage cancels your bubble and you will have to start over from scratch. Since the owl keeps automatically spawning, there is no way up the third waterfall it seems. It must be a bug. About 45 tries and still it keeps spawning. Ideas?

Anyone else losing the fish on the second waterfall? The first one disappears but a second one never shows up, so I can't complete the quest.

Edit: Absolutely do not use waterwalking, it will make you lose the fish and you'll have to start back at the beginning.

Sometimes is works, sometimes it does not. When fighting the last MOBs before the third waterfall, it put me in permanent " In Combat " mode. I had to go find other MOBs to fight with to cancel it. It does sometimes cancel the fish if you take combat damage. Do Not Use Water Walking as others have pointed out. You cannot kill all the MOBs then do the quest because they have a quick respawn time. You can kill the ones on the first waterfall an make it before combat. You luck may hold out. The first time I did it, there were no bugs, it worked as designed.

This is the kind of quest I never like. WOW has so many Awesome quests that it tends to disappoints when you have to try multiple times to complete a cheesy one like this.

Do this quest when the zone is busy. The mobs will have been cleared out by other players, and this quest becomes trivial. Otherwise you have to spend about 5 minutes slugging your way to the top.

Actually bug with underlight angler. Fish wont follow you if you equip it.

Using the Brave Bubble extra action button will break Stealth, but not Camouflage. Hunters can skip the Territorial Skimmers this way, but be mindful that the Opportunistic Somnowl at the final waterfall will automatically place you in combat regardless.

Found and achieved the fish. THOUGHT I got the first waterfall. Got all the other waterfalls and discovered that the first one would NOT work.

What Vyranoth is referring to is a Chinese parable about how dragons were created - an ambitious fish ascending waterfalls, to jump over a gate and become a dragon.
