The gemstone can be obtained from the Obsidian Throne. The NPC is just in front of it to the right.

To obtain the Obsidian Gemstone, talk to Archivist Edress at 25.0 56.2 in The Waking Shores (Obsidian Citadel / Obsidian Throne).

To skip quests in the area and/or If you can't see him, you can talk to you can talk to Kalendormu (25.0 56.4 also Obsidian Citadel) and unlock the full area (you will need to have already unlocked the zone / finished the quest line on a different character).

To locate Archivist Edress on alts you do not have completed the Obsidian Citadel questline if you already have on another character. Fly to the Obsidian Bulwark and locate Kalendormu and request to skip the questline on your alt.

Getting pretty damn tired of being run in and out of The Burning Ascent and being forced into agro range of epic mobs for no reason.

I mean, is there absolutely no other place I can get coal? None? Not a single safe place on the entire planet?

You get the Crystalline Shell from Terryn in Loamm, the same guy who gives you the incense for the previous quest.

If you have trouble figuring out where the 3 nest pieces get placed (like I did), they get placed back in Valdrakken in the Little Scales Daycare.

And this quest is how I've learned that Evoker/Augment spec stinks horribly for solo work. I can heal myself, or i can dps. my power of boosting dps is worthless if i'm busy keeping myself duct taped together.

I resigned myself to trying to make it through the questline to unlock the ability to skip like the other comments and found Archivist Edress at the Obsidian Bulwark at 43,68 which let me complete the quest without having to unlock the obsidian citadel.

Getting the Warmed Coal is a lot easier since we got regular slow flying. You can hover over where the coal piles are and land more discreetly and grab the coal without aggroing everything.

Maybe it's just my bad RNG but this quest now takes unnecessarily long due to the piles of coal now requiring level 70 to interact with. Why Blizz?

Warmth and Comfort

Gather supplies for the Obsidian Hatchling's nest.

Description

In order for the obsidian hatchling to be comfortable, we must build them a proper nest. You will need to build their nest from Obsidian Citadel coal to make sure it is warm and suitable. Secondly, Archivist Edress will be able to assist you in finding something that ties them to their people. We will want to gather something from Zaralek Cavern as well, as much of their flight's history is rooted there. Surely somebody in Loamm can help.
