The spawn rate of the mobs seems dreadfully low at all locations I've tried. The Veiled Ossuary (Norther tip of Thaldraszus) has no other types of mobs that spawn alongside the Scythids, but it's still slow as heck.

After flying around in frustration for a bit, I found the most Scythids in the area around here:
/way Thaldraszus 35 66.5
The drop rate isn't amazing but there are plenty of respawns in this area to get it done pretty fast.

God this quest sucks. The mobs take ages to spawn and the droprate is awefull.

The quest highlights an area in Ohn'ahran Plains that works out really well! Especially if you are doing this on a leveling alt. The drop rate is about 50-75% from the Ashen Groverippers and the mobs are level 63 so it's pretty easy to go around killing who you need. There is also a rare nearby that drops the Pointy Pincer and gives some decent leveling gear. Coords are /way Ohn'ahran Plains 25, 59

This quest badly needs a 100% drop rate, unless the mob respawn rates get drastically increased. Feel like I'm back playing classic, and not in a good way.

A couple of pieces of advice:
1. If you look at the map on the quest log, multiple places in the zone are highlighted. I hit all of them and that helped.
2. The best spot was in the Veiled Ossuary in a cave where no one was at. Coordinates /way 65.13, 15.37. I just hung out in this area and waited for them to respawn after I wiped all of them out the first time. That got me all of the pieces.

even bigger question is, why am i not seeing this quest on alt? is there a skill level lock to it like with the crafting orders filled one or a character level lock or what?

Blizz, if you refuse to increase the drop rate of this quest to 100%, at least make the mobs spawn about 5x faster than they currently are. This quest shouldn't take ten minutes to complete.

The quest name is likely a nod to the song Needles and Pins written by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono. It was popularized by the Searchers and later covered by The Ramones and Tom Petty among others.
