Locus Shifts can be used as long as you have at least 30 Cosmic Energy, and have unlocked a connected destination's Arrangement (cypher symbol), but you can always return to Gravid Repose for free.

You can skip many of the Locus Shift travel steps and/or unlock most Arrangements before this quest, with clever use of abilities, or flying (if you already have Secrets of the First Ones completed), but if you chose to do this early, you will not be offered this quest, and only have to follow the steps for Between a Rock & a Rock and Secundus Locus Arrangement to progress the quest line.

Before unlocking Trebalim Understanding, Locus Shift dialog will be in cyphers, but the dialog options always match the order below, with the addition of a return to Gravid Repose as the last option.

Steps

Gravid Repose	Enter Gravid Repose at /way #1970 50.6 32.0.
Interior Locus Arrangement	Go up the left ramp, and click it on the side of the wall, at /way #2029 68.8 53.0.
Interior Locus	Take the Locus Shift to the Interior Locus to enter the Inner Chamber.
Primus Locus Arrangement	Click it on the right wall, at /way #2029 44.2 29.8.
Primus Locus	Take the Locus Shift to the Primus Locus.
Between a Rock & a Rock	Pickup the quest from the Suspicious Rubble Pile in front of you, then move towards the Nascence Servitor behind you. Clear the Suspicious Rubble Pile, the next 4 rubble piles, and finally the glowing rubble pile at the top of the ramps. This quest is only available when you are on Match Made in Zereth Mortis, part of A Means to an End (chapter 6).
Secundus Locus Arrangement	Click it on the side of the pillar, at /way #1970 49.5 26.8. This will not be visible without completing the prior step, so can't be completed without being on Match Made in Zereth Mortis, part of A Means to an End (chapter 6).
Secundus Locus	Take the Locus Shift to the Secundus Locus.
Tertius Locus Arrangement	Click it on the side of the pillar, at /way #1970 48.3 29.9.
Tertius Locus	Take the Locus Shift to the Tertius Locus.
Quartus Locus Arrangement	Click it on the side of the pillar, at /way #1970 50.9 26.9.
Quartus Locus	Take the Locus Shift to the Quartus Locus.

If you had unlocked the Locus Shift Network previous to starting this campaign quest by yourself, this quest, Match Made in Zereth Mortis, is skipped and marked as completed for you automatically. This is probably a bug since you thus lose out on the 100 reputation from this quest. To continue this questline, you must teleport to the Primus Locus to pick up Between a Rock & a Rock. Then once you complete that, the next quest, Searching High and Low, is completed at the Ultimus Locus.

If you unlocked Locus Shift to Primus Locus prior to the campaign, you will get stuck after finishing Between a Rock & a Rock, go ahead and unlock Secundus Locus Shift(right next to the last pile of Between a Rock & a Rock), then teleport to Secundus Locus, Pocopoc will finally appear once again to give you Searching High and Low.

If you run out of energy while at the Primus Locus, but are no longer in your automa form because you found the glyph and clicked on it, you will have to go back to the beginning using the teleporter. The other teleport locations will require 30 energy to get to. Once at the start, go outside and kill some Lured mobs and collect their energy motes. Get at least 30 energy worth. You can see the amount of energy you have by mousing over the energy bar. From the first teleporter, you can go directly to the Secundus Locus. The remaining locations have mobs you can kill for energy; only the Primus Locus doesn't have any – at least once you are no longer animating the automa. Ask me how I know. :D

I'm so stuck, so I'm at match Made in Zereth Mortis. Entered the cave, and pocopoc says "Follow the automa to the glyph up there".... Yet nothing happens. I follow the automas up there, but the glyph doesn't appear on the wall. I've watched videos which says it should. I just get nothing, and the automa walks off with the glyph above his head. Any ideas? Completely stuck and unable to progress.

if it bugs out it is possible clipping yourself through the wall as a venthyr. The check for you using the teleporter is just being in the right location so it all works just fine after going through the wall

1 Something Wonderful	Go inside cave 35 45 and speak with Firim first option.
2 Music of the Spheres	Press on: Fractal Cypher A, Fractal Cypher B and Fractal Cypher C. After press all Cinematic will start.
3 What a Long Strange Trip	Follow and speak with Pocopoc in location: 41 43, 42 39, 42 32, 44 30 and 47 29 is finish location.
4 Borrowed Power	Get 100 Energy, after you will kill mobs they will drop energy orbs. 48 28
5 Pop Goes the Devourer!	Kill 12 mutated devourers.
6 Match Made in Zereth Mortis	"First move to Bulding 50 32 Then do step by step: - Press on Interior Locus Arrangement 68 52 - Use Locus Shift and teleport to Interior Locus. 7 Between a Rock & a Rock	Press on Nascence Servitor then use skill 3 on Suspicious Rubble Pile then find 4 other Rubble Piles and use skill 3 on them, skill 1 will help you with mobs to stop attacking you. Rubble Piles location: 48 29, 49 28, 50 27, 49 25. After collect all go to 49 26 ( middle top ) and remove last Suspicious Rubble Pile.
8 Searching High and Low	Pick up 3 Ingress Phrase 49 32, 48 34 and 47 33 then put them on door 48 33. That will teleport you inside You need to press on Empty Vessel
9 You Light Up My Life	When door open jump on Pocopoc and use skills to kill mobs ultil 100%. After cinematic Graktho the Automa-eater will drop energy pick it up and give it to Pocopoc ( dont fight with Graktho the Automa-eater ) You can take max 1 orb of energy. Do it untul You will get teleported to cave.
10 Oracle, Heal Thyself	Speak with Pocopo conversation will start
11 Arbiter in the Making	Go back to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon and speak with him. That will finish story line.

If you've unlocked flying and you are doing this on another toon you can just fly around and get all the glyphs and finish the quest. It's not trivial because the glyphs appear in a certain order, but it's better than having to farm more Cosmic Energy and if you really get stuck just use a Locus Shift (hopefully you'll have enough Cosmic Energy to do one or two without having to farm more).

if your quest is bagged and you cant teleport to the second rune do this:

-have one person in party who was done with this quest (he must have mass res)
-go on a place right above the closed door (you will see the green flight master icon - exclamation mark)
-do a duel, when you have low hp jump down and die
-person gonna port inside the room with second rune and cast mass res
-you gonna res inside the room with second rune

If you already have flying unlocked and are doing this quest on an alt, you can save yourself a great deal of effort farming energy and simply fly to the different locii using the following coordinates.

This is a pretty terrible quest and I wish I could skip it. But you don't get Poco back as an assistant until you do it and I need him atm. Not friendly for an alt that is not that well equipped. I know having secured flying you can jump around a bit. But still have to fight elites to get the sigils, and in his trance, Pocopoc doesn't help you anymore either. Costing me a fortune in equipment repair after res sickness. No I could NOT find my body ever, I think I was inside the rocks as I was on the spot it said it was, but there was no offer to resurrect.

Wow why do these mobs hit so hard? If you're a Warlock, turn off auto-attack on your pet as the mobs keep spawning and you'll soon be dead.

Who thought this would make a fun quest?

You need 180 energy to finish the quest, but your bar only holds 100... If you die, you have to walk 200 yards back. Peaceful mobs randomly turn into aggressive mobs then spawn more mobs right on top of you.

This quest further proves Blizzard doesn't think people play video games for fun.

This is the worst quest design I have ever encountered. As others have stated, neutral mobs will become hostile at random and aggro onto you (with a very quick spawn rate), and there are other hostile elites nearby that are difficult for many classes to solo (on top of all the other mobs aggrod onto you). If you die, then you spawn back down in the cave even if you are soulstoned. If you manage to survive a wave, don't worry... the adds will respawn and kill you or keep you in combat so you can't use the teleport. Oh, by the way, you will also need to kill extra mobs because, as others have mentioned, you need more cosmic energy than your bar can hold. Please make this quest less painful.

Blizzard outcome themself, for me dummest quest in the game and the worst quest design so far. Cherry on top - if you die anywhere after teleport, you cant reach your body, so you have to ressurect itself and go through ressurection sickness debuff

This quest can get confusing, especially if you have flying. The following tips may be helpful.

Don't fly. There's no need. It goes very fast without flying.
Keep an eye on your quest instructions. Do them in order. This is not required but it will help avoid any confusion.
When you get to Primus Locus, you must do the quest Between a Rock & a Rock. (Yes, they put a different quest right in the middle of your quest.)
The Locus Arrangements you need to find are glowing images on the sides of pillar walls. They are easy to spot. Just click them.
If you die, go to any locus then check your quest instructions to port to the locus you need to work on.

My first character breezed right through this. My second character tried to do it while flying and it took twice as long because I was constantly confused. My third character did not fly and did even better than my first character.

What an absolutely terrible ^&*!ing quest. Takes way too long to fill up the bar in the first place. Then, you later find out that a filled bar isn't even enough to finish the quest - you need more. By that time, you're hundreds of yards in the air on tiny airborne platforms with very little room to move without falling off, with mobs that occasionally turn hostile with no warning or predictability. Not to mention some of those platforms randomly have goddamn elite hostile mobs on them for god knows what reason.

Hey, if their goal was to design a quest with literally the worst aspects they could think of, then they succeeded. With flying colors.

I can't believe how bad this quest is. I can't stay alive at all, the first sigil isn't even there and resetting doesn't help. This is so depressing, I thought games were supposed to be fun!

In all my years playing wow I don't think I have been so frustrated by a quest chain. It's purely exasperating, especially the second time around and even with flying unlocked. It also seems to be very buggy. If you're on alts which are generally less well geared, dying is very likely. Reclaiming your corpse seems impossible on the platforms- forcing to return to the spirit healer and except the resurrection debutff and a significant + on your time spent doing this BS. The whole thing also just screams FILLER, I didn't feel like it contributed to the overall story in a meaningful way at all.

I don't know guys, just did this quest for the first time (i.e. without flying) and had no issues whatsoever. I think this is a fun quest and a welcome change to the same old same old. Maybe something has changed (I did it in 9.2.5) that made it easier for me so I didn't have to struggle like others had to. The only part where you need to be on your toes is at the very beginning when you are steering the automa. Just "befriend" the big guys and hammer the little ones with that excavate skill on key #3 -- they die almost instantly so you can freely walk for the most part. Kill mobs on next stage to get back to 30 energy so you can hop the next.

Here is my guide for alts who want to simultaneously do this as quickly as possible while also getting the Dormant Alcove treasures without having to farm more Cosmic Energy.

Requirments

Flying
You must have researched Metrial Understanding and Aealic Understanding to be able to get the extra treasures.
I'd also recommend you get at least 6 Spatial Opener from other treasures before doing this (don't waste time farming Dominance Key for the 7th).

Guide
1. Go into Gravid Repose and get the glyph for Interior Locus /way 50.67 31.81 Gravid Repose Entrance
2. Use the Locus Shift to teleport to Interior Locus
3. Get the glyph for Primus Locus
4. Teleport back to Gravid Repose (costs no Cosmic Energy) - here is where we deviate from the quest's instructions
5. Run out of Gravid Repose and now it's time to start flying
6. Fly to /way 48.43 26.38 Primus Locus
7. Pick up the quest Between a Rock & a Rock and complete it to get the Secundus glyph

8. This is where it can get confusing. You will need to fly to 4 more platforms that each have a glyph you need to click. Your quest tracker will tell you if you missed one after going to all the locations.

Here are the coordinates for each platform. Remember that you will also have to find a glyph near each location:
/way 47.95 27.90 Secundus Locus
/way 51.91 27.11 Tertius Locus
/way 48.51 29.67 Quartus Locus
/way 50.77 32.55 Quintus Locus

9. Finally, fly up to Ultimus Locus to complete the quest at /way 48.86 31.44 Ultimus Locus

10. Complete the rest of the quest chain until the A Means to an End chapter is complete. Make sure you don't leave Zereth Mortis afterwards since doing so will reset your Cosmic Energy.

11. Pick up the Dormant Alcove Arrangement at /way 51.0 32.5 Dormant Alcove Arrangement

12. a. OPTIONAL if you want an extra 200 Cosmic Flux, then you should farm 20 more Cosmic Energy at this point so that you can also visit Fulgor Alcove. If you don't care about that, skip to 13.
12. b. Pick up the Fulgore Alcove Arrangement at /way 47.8 30.4 Fulgore Alcove Arrangement
12. c. Farm 20 more Cosmic Energy from mobs until you have 90+ in total.

13. Go into Gravid Repose and use the Locus Shift to teleport to Interior Locus
14. Use the other Locus Shift (Arcae Locus) to teleport to Dormant Alcove and use your Spatial Openers to open treasures:

Misshapen Sand Pile - 242 Trinket (for your loot specialization) and 200 Cosmic Flux
Sparkling Sand Pile - 246 Trinket Gemstone of Prismatic Brilliance and 200 Cosmic Flux
Ticking Sand Pile - 246 Neck (Crit/Mastery) Unfathomable Pendant and 200 Cosmic Flux
Lumpy Sand Pile - 246 Ring (Crit/Haste) Salvaged Viperid Band and 200 Cosmic Flux
Glinting Sand Pile - 246 Ring (Crit/Mastery) Impossibly Ancient Band and 200 Cosmic Flux
Humming Sand Pile - 246 Ring (Crit/Vers) Abandoned Automa Loop and 200 Cosmic Flux

15. OPTIONAL If you unlocked Fulgor Alcove and farmed the extra 20 Cosmic Energy, use the teleporter back to Interior Locus
16. Use the Locus Shift (Arcae Locus) to teleport to Fulgor Alcove
17. Click on the console on the opposite side of the Locus Shift and hop onto the orb to fly up to the treasure:

What an insanely poor quest design. Example:
Designer: You need to drop agro to use the locus and teleport from platform to platform.
Me: Cool. So I'll just kill the mobs.
Designer: Well.... they never stop spawning.
Me: OK, I'll just drag them to the edge and kill them.
Designer: So, about that... I made them infinitely cast spells will staying still.
Me: I'll just hide behind something and LOS them.
Designer: I didn't really place anything on the ledge you can hide behind. And I also put agro birds everywhere, as well as heroics death robots.
Me: OK, I'll just range them with my one distance spell.
Designer: Great idea! But... then the other mobs will attack you before you can kill it, creating an endless loop. Oh and don't forget you need to farm cosmic energy throughout the-

Heads up, but if you accidentally click the wrong way even once, you are screwed. You barely have enough energy to make it where you need to go as it is. make one mistake and you may as well start over

Okay, so when you die (and you probably will die due to the terrible, terrible terrible design of this quest - your corpse drops away somewhere, and you spawn as a ghostie outside the creepy spirit thing. You can either take res sickness (which clearly the quest designer wants you to do to waste your gold) or you can make the trek around to your corpse which isn't where the map implies it is.

Head back to where you just where, but don't head up towards the temple place. Instead, look on the right when you pass a large rock, and there's one of those globe ahead of you. See that opening in the rockface - that's the cave wher they unceremoniously dumped your corpse. Now head back up toward the temple, and remember to grind a ton of energy again, coz you will be spending it all again even though you still have your symbols.

Also note that if you accidentally click the wrong way even once, you have to go back. You barely have enough energy to make it where you can have a chance to get more , so start over. Once you do get to this point, you have only 10 left so you have to get more anyway - but be carely not to piss of the giant ass geomental coz you don't stand a chance against it's bull$%^& attacks

This quest (and its entire quest chain) really makes me wish we had a Zereth Mortis story skip for alts. This is by the far one of the absolute worst quests in the entire game. What a grindy, frustrating piece of garbage.

At the beginning when the quest says "0/1 locus shift used," what you have to do is to click on the outlined/glowing crystal, which will reveal a map - and then on the map click on both the indicated hexagons (shown in yellow and green). Not having played any of Shadowlands then jumping in in after all the patches has been an absolutely miserable slog.

I would like to start by seconding all the comments that said this quest is pretty poorly designed. There is no doubt about it. However, there are some tips I've found after doing this a bunch that may make your time here easier, which is all I'm trying to do here.

1). Pull the mobs from range. Do not just stand in the pools with them, as what you're more then likely going to end up doing is just getting hit by more when they go hostile, and you're just stuck chain pulling mobs till eventually you die.
2). I've seen a lot of comments about how mobs randomly go hostile. It's actually not as random as you think. If you're trying to stand in the pools to get resource, target the first mob who arrived there with you. The mobs slowly gain stacks of the pool debuff over time, and once they hit 10 stacks, that's when they go fully hostile. If you want to avoid combat, move out of the pool when they hit around 8 or 9 stacks.
3). The pools on the ground level, the ones with the green NPC's around them. They get periodically cleared of enemies by those NPC's. So if you're trying to stand there, back off when something hits almost 10 stacks, and let the NPC's reset it.
4). DO NOT, and I cannot stress this enough, do this on a necrolord character who is currently bound with bonesmith unless you have flight unlocked. The quest is designed so that when you die, your body is teleported to ground level so that you can grab it. However, with bonesmith, when you die and enter your "free life" phase, when your armor tethers you, you will get transported down to ground during that phase, and when that timer runs out you get ported back to your corpse, which is still up on a platform. Without flying this will result in you being unable to claim your body, so you'll be stuck taking rez sickness. No one wants that. Exceptions can be made to this rule by shamans who's reincarnation is not currently on cooldown as you can just use that instead of releasing.

As of Oct 26 2022 Dragonflight Pre Patch, this quest is EVEN HARDER to complete because of a combat bug. Can't drop combat. I have killed everything in the area. I have jumped and used a parachute to get out of the zone. And STILL IN COMBAT. I have to literally hearth out of the zone, which of course loses the cosmic energy. I have restarted. My husband's hunter can't use feign death to drop combat either in the zone. So good luck folks! Hope it get resolved soon.

This is the dumbest series of quests for the dumbest storyline in the game. I hate this BS.

It's convoluted, arcane storytelling and questing mechanics ... almost like the writer wanted to create for a game completely different from World of Warcraft. So out of touch with the soul of the game. Alien robots in heaven contending with motes of energy, devourers and giant mites and elementals, runes of power, a musical language and eternal mathematics. WHY.

I imagine the quest designer had a mandate from the creative team ... so I feel bad for them, having to engineer this shiny mess. Pointless. I don't care about any of this... the First Ones, the Arbiter, the underlying mechanics of the Shadowlands. I am so, so very glad we're leaving this @#$% behind.

This chain is absolutely frustrating. You are trained through out the zone to have your little buddy out, so you learn to scale your damage and what you can survive with that. Then, they remove that, and you have lost your metric to determine what you can and cannot take. Perhaps I suck, perhaps not. I have died several times because they have a random massive elite right at the place I have to be.

I do have a few notes I have learned. The Lured enemies are not actually randomly aggro. They will turn hostile after they get 10 stacks of Cosmic Instability.
I will get through it, but it is astoundingly frustrating.
