I don't know if I got lucky, but it felt like it's better to promote band to one venthyr at a time. I think it's faster that way and you would have less fights.

Stupid tedious quest, like everything shadowlands just proves blizzard don't play their own game, success rate on the dredgers seems to be under 20%

Can someone explain how you're supposed to recruit? I have the posters and the icon to use them next to the quest. I've tried it on about 50 different mobs and nothing happens.

Edit: God I'm dumb, nevermind. There's a recruit icon that was hidden under some UI elements.

Very annoying tedious quest. If all the roadies and groupies dissapear you have to click the icon by the quest description (took me ages to notice this!).

In case you get into a fight, your disguise will disappear. Use the quest scroll to get back in the promoter disguise. You can only do so when out of combat.

A ton of RNG seems to be involved on this quest.

First make sure you use the icon next to the quest. It will make you friendly towards venthyr and dredgers.

Then get near venthyr or dredgers (you need both) and use the spell button on your screen (something you get from using the icon that makes you friendly) to recruit them.

If you're lucky you'll recruit them (you need 10 of each), if you're also lucky and they don't recruit they won't attack you. But if you are not lucky they'll attack and if you are trying to recruit a group if one attacks you lose your charm and they all attack. So it's questionable whether you should risk recruiting a group or not.

You can also use this spell that makes you friendly to just walk in and get the 3 missing instruments, so that's easy at least.

I was having nearly zero success on dredgers for quite some time. Felt like none of the first 10 and maybe one of the first 20 agreed. But I slowly gathered all the instruments and groupies. And then nearly every dredger started to agree. I'm not sure whether it was groupies or instruments, but it felt like a real change in ratio from 20:80 to 80:20 at the very least.

Of course, it might be just my own luck, but if no dredgers like you, give it a try. Gather instruments first.

Takes even longer when WQ The Strength of Sinfall is active and peolpe are killing your quest mobs while you are trying to recruite them.

Im usually not the one to be mad about tedious RNG quests but this one made so goddamn angry. Thank GOD this is a one time quest and not a WQ ....

After you accept the quest, go inside the mausoleum to pick up the Band Promotional Posters
Use the Band Promotional Posters from your bags or from the quest sidebar.
This will give you a buff called Promoting the Local Band that does two things

You will no longer catch aggro from mobs in this area
You will have an action button ability called Promote the Band

Use Promote the Band when near the NPCs with yellow nameplates, it has an AoE effect. Occasionally one will say they hate the band and attack you. Most of the time you'll recruit one of them to be either a groupie or a roadie. Sometimes they'll just plain say no. Sometimes different people in a group will react differently. After you've attempted it on one, the yellow nameplate disappears so you know where you've tried it already.

PROTIP: Promote the Band is channeled and sometimes it only triggers one NPC in that amount of time despite them being grouped together. To save yourself some walking, after you recruit one of them, if any of the others are still yellow, hit the spell again and it still might recruit one of the others.

1 of the 3 Confiscated Stage Props are in a building to the north of where you pick up the quest. The other 2 are a little to the west of the first barking zone. Your buff likely won't save you there and they're inside buildings so you'll be doing some fighting mobs to get to them.

I like the idea of the quest but god awful execution. Easily a 90% failure rate which causes the mobs to attack you. Such a tedious quest even if its very simple.

Tip for druids: Pop your Band Promotional Poster and change into flight form. If they aren't too happy with you recruiting them, just fly up out of their reach, land somewhere else and restart.

I swear none of these Venthyr or Dredgers were happy with me, all they wanted to do was fight...

I was also struggling with this quest like others have commented, but once I realized if you turn the flyer towards the npc my success rate seemed much higher. Only took a min or so after trying for several min and only having 1 or 2.

Are you trying to promote your band? I believe that attacking you and trying to murder you is a reasonable response.

Description

Hips was smart to send you my way. The Lost Chalice Band plays the best music this side of the Maw! The band is not quite ready to tour yet, however. The musicians are all safe in the crypt behind me, but their instruments have been confiscated by our obnoxious neighborhood authorities! Noise complaints and all that. Help me get those back, and perhaps recruit a few groupies and roadies along the way to help out, and we shall throw the best concert your court has ever seen!
