If you lose your fight, you will be told that's ok, even a loss teaches us something. And we're told to collect our reward. IDK, may just be a bug in beta, but I clicked on the treasure chest that appeared, it opened, and closed as if I collected something. But my bags say no, my chat window says no. And, this quest (Into the Coliseum) still says 0/1 Curious Blueprint

Although, I'm not surprised. I would think I'd need to win the fight to get a reward. Just odd I'm told I received one when I didn't. Beta bug. :D

I'm also surprised that I was even able to do the quest. My soulbind is bugged and I was unable to soulbind with Pelagos, which I believe is a pre-req for this quest. If not, it should be. Wouldn't that be how I would act as his tactician for the coliseum, he's my soulbind?

To complete Into the Coliseum you have to defeat Trial: Kalisthene boss.
Speak to Artemede to start the fight, you'll be transferred to the arena,
where you have to do the preparation and then defeat the boss.
To complete preparation speak to Pelagos first, then
use the Soul Mirror to choose the opponent - Kalisthene,
then to start the fight ring the Vesper of Tradition.

Kalisthene has 2 abilities:
Tethering Spear - casts a spear that will snare you and push you towards the spear.
Ascendant Barrage - when she reaches maximum energy she starts to cast aoe barrage, deals heavy damage if hits.

Pelagos abilities:
Test of Faith - channeled spell, breaks when you start moving.
Confront Memories - creates 3 memories which grant you different buffs,
run through one of the 3 memories to get: Swift Recollection, Prescient Recollection or Armored Recollection
Aspirant's Bindings - roots and deals aoe damage.
Unleash - aoe damage.

To defeat Kalisthene:
Stay out of Tethering Spear line of sight, hide behind the statues.
Avoid Ascendant Barrage, use Test of Faith and Aspirant's Bindings on cd.
Buff yourself with Confront Memories and use ultimate Unleash when ready.

The reward is Curious Blueprint and Blueprint: Deep Echo Trident

This is confusing and possibly bugged, so here's a tip.

IF YOU WIN ON YOUR FIRST TRY, YOU WILL NOT COMPLETE QUEST. If you fail, you will complete. However winning gives you a special reward.

So for best result, win your first match, collect reward, then enter the colliseum again and lose (just stand still, you will die in ~20sec or so). Collect chest in middle, and your quest will finish.

PSA: This quest is not ''bugged'' the way you think it is.

The game expects you to lose because you don't have the boots. After you craft the boots via Ascension Crafting, then the NPC says that ''Pelagos now has the edge to win the fight'' or something close to that.

It is simply unbalanced in a way that you're not supposed to win, but you actually can.

Quest Name: Start and description

1 The Path of Ascension Storyline start from Haephus 42 53.
2 Humble Gatherer "You need to Find:
- 2 Depleted Goliath Core Drop from Forsworn Punisher or Dark Goliath
- 6 Tampered Anima Charger Drop from mechanical enemies in Bastion
- 5 Soul Mirror Shard Drop from humanoid Forsworn enemies
As well to get this materials You can go to Dungeon Spires of Ascension."
3 Your Friend, Dactylis "Go to Dactylis 29 39 and from the collected materials from previous quest craft:
- 2 Overcharged Goliath Core
- 1 Soul Mirror."
4 A Suitable Opponent Go to 53 88 and activatre 2 Depleted Goliath then speak with Kalisthene then go back to quest giver.
5 Into the Coliseum "Go to coloseum. To get there speak with Artemede.
Inside do by Steps:
- Pick Pelagos
- Pick enemy from Soul Mirror ( is on left behind )
- Start Fight using Bell
You dont need to win this fight but is good to train skills due to that next time you will need to win.
Skills:
Test of Faith - 3 sec duration attack ( can get 20 energy ) You can't move when using.
Aspirant's Bindings - Root enemy + aoe dmg ( can get 10 energy ) You can cast when moving.
Confront Memories - Drop 3 memories: Swift Recollection, Prescient Recollection and Armored Recollection You can pick up only 1 all giving deferent abilit ( You will get 20 energy )
Unleash - You can use it when you have 100 energy. Is best skill with large dmg Use it all the time when energy ready.
SKill 5 - Use it when you have chain on you to run out.
Stay on from of you enemy then you will do basic attack giving you 1 energy."

7 Sourcing Your Own Materials "Craft Herald's Footpads For that You need:
4 Elysian Feathers - Drop from Flying mobs best spot for me was 46 37 slay Swiftwing Larion.
2 Champion's Pelt - Drop from Juvenile Runedeer go to Ardenweald 59 37."
8 Overcoming the Trial "Defeat Kalisthene in Path of Ascension. Same way to get inside, inside do:
- Pick Pelagos
- Pick enemy from Soul Mirror ( is on left behind )
- Pick up Herald's Footpads from Paolone ( is on left )
- Start Fight using Bell
This Time You need to win :D."
9 Blueprint: Deep Echo Trident From Chest in Path of Ascension when you victory You will pick up Blueprint: Deep Echo Trident. Return to Dactylis

Very dumb quest. You must LOSE to get credit. If you win, you cannot complete this quest.

Are you kidding me? you are supposed to LOSE? I read my abilities during the fight had no idea what I was doing and still won easily like atleast make it semi difficult if you are supposed to be losing it

As a level 70 with ilvl 370.... you can easily beat the boss. However, like mentioned in the other comments, you need to purposely lose. You hardly lose health with this boss until they use one of their abilities but it only takes about 25% of your health at a time. You have to wait a while in order to purposely lose. Took about a minute or two.
