As of today, Nov. 27, 2006, this quest is broken. When you use the Soul Gem on Yenniku, it stuns him for a while. But the cooldown on the Gem prevents you from using it again until Yenniku disappears. I've got a GM ticket out for it, but I don't expect to hear anything useful. This quest has been broken for a LONG time. Maybe when Burning Crusade comes out, we'll be able to finish it...

MarvinBunter... you use the Soul Gem then right click him you don't have to use it again... it's not broken...

Just to help combat the nay sayers, this quest was bugged for a few patches, as I myself had to talk to a GM about the issue. I haven't tried it since the release of 2.0, but i guess it's been fixed since. Hopefully someone can confirm.

You can find "Yenniku" in the "Ruins of Aboraz" (39, 58).
Use the Soul Gem on him which stuns Yenniku and you are able to talk to him for filling up the gem.
Quest was not buged, so it seems to have been fixed.

The rewards have since changed they are no longer blue items.

The staff has had the +damage removed

The neck has had the +attack power removed and replaced with +3 spirit

today ive done this q.just used soul gem on him and quickly speaked with him and get filled gem

the quest is working, you go to the ruins then select the mob and click on the soul gem, back to gram'gol

the rewards were green though, both staff and ammy
i don't know why

I log on and I find they buffed the medal to blue. Doing this quest was worth it afterall.

appears to be part of a chain. best i can tell, though im still going through it to check, the chain goes like this:

He is found at one of the 2 Zanzil spots. You just need to go up to him and use the orb, then right click him. Easy exp.

Easy quest. Just use it on Yenniku and you get quest complete. Go back to Grim'gol to collect your reward and 7200 xp.

this quest was ok for me.... a lvl 43 frost mage. It's a pretty good staff for a lvl 30-44

very easy to do, just get close and use the stone (instant cast) dont have to weaken him or anything.

No one has mentioned it so far, but you have to be very very close to use the stone, almost on top of him. So don't expect to stun him from afar, or through the wall.

Okay so i tried doing the quest, and when i use the stone it doesn't stun him, he simply attacks me. Does anyone know why this could be? I don't try to attack him, i am stealthed right on him and just right click the stone with him targetted. Any suggestions/help?

works fine with me, as a druid, i just stealthed until melee range to yanikku, click on him, click on the gem, and he's stunned and turned friendly with a blue "?" on his head.

quickly while stunned i clicked on him, and complete the quest. i doesn't even have to kill even 1 mob.

i just targeted him, went up to him and he hit me once but as soon as i used to gem it was fine.

Just tried doing this q as warlock four times. Did not work. Got in close, np, fired the soul gem, but the dude just kept hitting me.... :-(

This quest is worded very poorly. It says, "Yenniku dwells with Zanzil the Outcast." Because the quest giver gave you a "soul gem", I wouldn't be surprised if people thought, "Oh, Yenniku dwells within Zanzil the Outcast".

This is not the case.

Yenniku is just next to The Outcast. You can find Yenniku through the archway west of The Outcast.

Quickpoints:
1.) Make sure the person you are using the soul gem on is named Yenniku.
2.) Pretend Zenzil the Outcast's name isn't mentioned in the quest, it will just confuse you.

i had a horrible time finding these ruins. i dont have the coordinates system and there wasnt a great description above for my taste at least. so heres my take; stay on the road heading south past the Ruins of Jubuwal. on what should be your left side, there will be a hole in a wall. ride on through that hole and keep heading straight. ta-da! the Ruins of Aboraz. hope i helped here some.

I think this quest still has a bug. I tried doing it with a lvl 46 pally and every time he didn't stun. I tried clicking the orb in my bag, put it on a action bar. Even went as far as to try stunning wait the two min(for cooldown) and try it again. I have a hunch it maybe my tp's so am gonna clear them and try it with none. I"ll let u know what happens

It doesn't work for me.
It works when i use first the soul gem on yenniku to stun him.
But then i cannot talk to Yenniku, and the soul gem still charged for 2 min.
Please, someone answer to my problem.

It worked just fine once I realized there is an NPC named Yenniku you use it on and NOT Zanzil the Outcast

Just did this, and he was already stunned, with a blue questionmark above his head - not sure if the effects of someone else stunning him remain for a few minutes after the quest is complete, or if this is a change/bug of 4.0.X - either way xD

If Your Inventory is full, this quest will NOT work.

From what I'm seeing here, before you used to have to speak with him in order to receive the filled soulstone. This is no longer the case. Once using the soulstone on him, a filled soulstone will be automatically placed in your inventory. So, having full bags causes him to simply be stunned and then fade out.

this quest still works and doable for the North Stranglethorn quests achievement.

Kill Zanzil, then use the gem on Yenniku.

At least as of patch 4.3, this quest still exists (or at least got re-formed). Yenniku is in a cave at (57, 75) being attacked by Ana'thek the Cruel. Once you kill Ana'thek, you can use the soul gem on Yenniku and it will complete the quest.

Description

I have reshaped the Mind's Eye into a Soul Gem. Its purpose is twofold: you must use it to stun Yenniku, and once stunned place it upon his head to entrap his soul.

Then, bring the gem to Nimboya.

Yenniku dwells with Zanzil the Outcast, at the Ruins of Aboraz, along the Crystal Shore on the distant Cape of Stranglethorn.
