To add another issue on the growing list for Phillip, yesterday I discovered that if you do his quest solely while riding him. hence your character doesnt damage him. You don't get quest completion credit, so 40 minutes of mindless striking and shielding later, just to have to do it again, at least make it so he protects you from the haste reduction aura. If Atticus isn't selling the potion that gives you immunity to Scunner's aura, Phillip's quest is just awful to complete

This quest is the worst. Riding Iron Philip basically doesn't help at all with killing Scunner, because while doing so you hardly dish out any damage.

Don't even bother trying to use Philip to fight him, he literally hits for 200. Just bring a friend(s) to kill him normally.

Daaang. This was the first quest Iron Phillips offered me and when I saw Scunner in the quest log, I thought, "Wait, the level 62 rare? Really? This abomination can solo him?" Saw the rest of the comments here, including the helpful one that said to buy Flask of Vile Resistance from Atticus first.

Took 12 minutes as a holy priest to kill Scunner with Iron Phillips just swinging away. I never had to heal him once. I briefly did jump on him, but noticed my character was still taking damage so I jumped off. It got ugly towards the end when I was constantly low on mana. I just ran in circles, refreshing Shadow Word: Pain as needed, and Holy Novaing the adds. Now I understand why I never see anyone fighting Scunner.

Has the possibility to reward Regrown Osteowings once you hit rank 5.

Just sucks you have to kill a rare spawn with a decent timer for a quest.

As a ilvl 226 shadow priest, with the help of Emeni and Stitch, I managed to take the mob down within 2 minutes. Yeah I've seen posts complaining about how useless Iron Philip is, indeed don't bother to use him. Try to use Marz for tanking or constructs who can do some decent damage or healing, as Emeni was the one who basically held the aggro during the entire fight.

Just crafted Iron Phillip and this is the first quest he gave. Scunner has a 20 to 30 minute respawn timer.

Don't mount up on Philip. Took me about 5 min to down. I'm just a squishy ilvl 205 fury warrior so this isn't that difficult.

I soloed the quest on my ilvl 208 shadow priest by using Marz to tank -- be sure to have several Restore Construct on hand because he will die a few times -- and interrupting Scunner's Creepy Crawlers ability when possible. You won't get every interrupt, so make sure to focus down the adds.

As of 9.1.5, Scunner appears to be soloable with Iron Phillip summoned. Frost DK ilvl 219, nothing special in my gear, no legendary equipped.

definitely soloable with just Phillip in 9.2 - 252 rogue (no special gear just from world content)

Description

Scunner, a roiling mass of flesh and slime, has crawled out of the ruins of the House of Plagues. He emits a toxic vapor that impairs the functions of those who attempt to fight him. You can try it, Maw Walker, but it's doubtful you could hurt him on your own. Constructs are built to fight creatures like Scunner. So gather a force of them and eliminate the threat.
