Currently bugged on my server. Every second round cancels after one bite. People are dying and being rezzed to remove the five minute Full Stomach debuff.

This quest, Brewfest Chowdown, is the introductory quest to the Brewfest event of the same name "Brewfest Chowdown". To complete this quest you merely need to participate in the event whether you win or lose.

Once you accept the quest take a seat on one of the four seats behind the long table alongside the quest giver and wait for the event to begin. The event will not begin until all four seats are occupied by players, so be patient. At times of high demand there can be competition just to get a seat.

You can PARTICIPATE in the EVENT again, at any time after completing this quest, just by occupying a seat, as there is no further quest to be accepted.

Winning the Brewfest Chowdown event will result in the award of one Chowdown Champion Token which will appear in your bag. Upon collecting five (5) Chowdown Champion Tokens you will be able to purchase the toy Brewfest Chowdown Trophy. The quest giver is also the vendor for this Toy.

There are no consolation rewards for the 3 losers. After participating in the event you will gain a 5 minute "Full Stomach" debuff, temporarily preventing participation in the event. The debuff is removed if you die.

After collecting 5 tokens & purchasing the toy there appears to be no further achievement or need to continue participating in the event. This quest MAY reset daily, however I do not know at this time.

To WIN this event you must be the first to eat 10 plates of sausages. WHEN THE EVENT BEGINS your action bar will be replaced by a bar with only 3 actions (Keys 1, 2 & 3) and a progress bar in the lower centre of the screen. The keys are basically 1. Eat Sausage (1 sec CD), 2. Refreshing Brew (10 sec CD) & 3. New Plate (please, because I've just finished the last plate) (3 sec CD). The progress bar (%) shows you how Full your Stomach is.

Eating (key 1) fills the bar. Drinking (key 2) reduces the bar. (If Not eating the % will gradually decrease naturally.) If, when eating, the bar exceeds 100% you will get a "choking" and be unable to perform any action for 4 or 5 seconds. When each plate is empty then key 3 (New Plate) will become active & Key 1 (Eat) will be inactive until key 3 New Plate has been used. (Similarly key 3 is inactive while a plate that is not empty is present.) (TIP: Suggest start with key 3 when event begins to ensure a plate is active.)

(TIP: I found eating so much/so fast that I 'choked' will lead to losses. Use Drink (key 2) frequently and have the patience to wait for the bar to reduce naturally if key 2 is on CD, as this is faster than the overeating & choking delay.)

NOTE: All players receive the same number of sausages at each plate/stage of the event. Any visual that appears otherwise is just that, visual only. As players rapidly 'eat' sausages the graphics may not have time to 'draw' the sausage before it is consumed. Never the less, there are fewer sausages on the first few plates for each player but are the same for each player.

Players giving you grief? Can't see what's on your plate? Here are two solutions:

Solution 1: The Solo Strategy (Guaranteed to Work)

Stop watching your character eat the sausages on their plate, instead watch the vehicle action bar. This helps to not only ignore the other players who are blocking your vision, but also focuses your attention on a smaller part of the screen. While monitoring your choke bar make sure to press the buttons as the become available. Fast button pressing is not required during the actual competition as faster button mashing is likely to result in your character choking. Instead take it slowly and eventually you will win. This may still be frustrating to those that are impatient, however patience is indeed the key to this challenge. As for actually making it into the eating competition, fast mouse clicking is your ticket. Unfortunately there is no queue which means that everyone will be scrambling to get into the competition and sadly disrespecting one another as they push and shove to get ahead of one another.

Solution 2: The Group Strategy (Not Guaranteed to Work)

If all else fails you might be able to form a group for later in the two week holiday event to alternate taking turns to each earn your tokens. This can wind up with you taking an hour to ensure that each of the four players in your group receives enough tokens for the toy. This strategy can make the competition much less arduous as three players can afk while one wins their tokens. Sadly, this is not a guaranteed viable strategy as other players make still be swarming the competition later in the holiday. Take this strategy with a grain of salt and as a last resort.

Don't give up! You can do this!

And remember you are competing against other players, not NPCs. Sometimes you will be competing with highly skilled players while other times you will be the most skilled. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it does make you better!

There is a healthy dose of RNG in this event:

The number of sausages per plate is random (I believe it's between two and four)
Sausages are not made equal: your fullness bar will not necessarily fill by the same amount every time you eat a sausage

(I'm not yet sure if drinking reduces your fullness bar by the same amount every time)

So if you are doing everything right, as in:

Never choke
Chug some brew as soon after you eat the first couple sausages to keep the cooldown running (there are three charges)
Don't drink if it will reduce your fullness bar below 0, wasting some of the effects of that drink
Request new plates as soon as they are available

There is still a chance you will lose.

It also means that someone who just adequately pays attention is not at a disadvantage when placed against someone with mad skillz or lower latency.

tl;dr Keep at it, you'll get it eventually.

How to always win: Make sure to spam the LIVING HELL out of your "1" key, you can consume all sausages at once, no matter the choke bar % if you click fast enough. I don't even use the brew, i just SPAM "1" and then get new platter after im done choking, works everytime if you eat all sausages at once!

PRO TIP: if you know you are about to lose just exit the vehicle and you will not get any debuff.

Update on how to always in 8.2.5. where the gcd got nerfed a little bit, so mostly you won't be able to devour all the sausages at once :
1. Bind your "1" keys to be instead scroll on your wheel.
2. Enter the competition and scroll away to to victory, while ignoring the drinking button.

I finally got that thing right! Common sense make people wait until that bar goes down by itself if they cannot drink.

But! Actually you SHOULD keep on eating IF you cannot drink anymore. Indeed if you are choking or whatever, the drinking timer will still go on, so if you got nothing interesting to do (such as drinking or order another plate), you definitely should keep on eating.

Soooo... quite possibly the best part of this is getting everyone at the table to use some kind of transmog affect, like Transmorpher Beacon or Gamon's Braid. The results are hilarious.

One of our group was transmorphed as Prince Malchezaar and when he sits, he kinda leans to his right, so this made it great to see as someone was mogged as Gamon and leaving absolutely zero elbow room at the table. Screenshot is relevant (if approved).

Heya! So lots of people here are posting about the optimal strategy here, and begrudgingly shaking their fist at the RNG of the number of sausages on each plate.
However, there is an easy way to get trophies for you and your 3 best friends in just a few minutes. So everybody can get their 5 Chowdown Champion Tokens to be able to buy their Brewfest Chowdown Trophy and be on their merry way.

So yes, the number of sausages on each plate is random. But there is something consistent about how the game ends. When the 10th plate is requested. The game is over and the winner is announced. If multiple players request their 10th plate at the same time. Everybody gets a Chowdown championship token. So in theory, you can get 20 tokens for your party of 4 players in just 5 rounds. We didn't have any luck getting a pull timer to work with the vehicle interface for the minigame. but typing out a timer in chat, or counting down on coms works just fine. After the round, you can do another more quickly by dropping yourself off a flying mount and rezzing to get rid of the full belly debuff.

Also, it should be noted that there is presently a bug at the time of writing, where if people click the exit vehicle button, it messes up the mini-game for the whole server. So don't click that. And if you happen to find it bugged, try phasing into another server, or turning off/on war mode.

Currently broken/bugged as of 9/22/21. Even if 4 people are seated, the event will not start. Action bars for the event will appear, but will not be usable.

As others have already mentioned, the quest is bugged at the moment. However, our group was successful in making it work by doing the following:

Enable War Mode (not sure if actually needed).
Enable Party Sync.
Wait for everyone to take a seat at the table, but then stand up, run around the tent, and retake the seat.

After that, you'll be able to order a plate of sausages and start eating.

There is a small delay between Britta Steinheart announcing the winner of the chowdown and the real end of the mini game where all participants are pushed from their seats. If your score is close to the winner (means 9 plates) and you manage to order the 10th plate within this delay, you will also receive a Chowdown Champion Token even if you were not announced as the winner. This happend to me twice. So I won only 3 times but got 5 Chowdown Champion Token.

This means the game rewards all participants with a token who have a final score of 10. It doesn't matter if you were announced as the winner or not.

This game is an RNG game. The winner will be random if everyone plays perfectly. So it isn't yours to win, but it is yours to lose. Having said that, you can definitely play suboptimally so here is a guide to optimal play:

The opener is 1-1-2. You want to eat 2 bites and then a brew. Always.
The midgame algorithm is much more forgiving. It doesn't need lightning reflexes, so just take it slow and easy.

If 3 is available, press 3
if choking < 70, press 1
if 2 is available, press 2
else wait

The ending is crucial. You win once you are at 9 score and press button 3. So if someone else is at 9 too, and you're >= 70 but you're on your second bite you might want to take a risk and press 2 in the off chance that you have a 2 bite plate and your bite gives <30. If you don't choke quickly press 3 the moment it is available and win!

Another tip, is if it looks like you are going to lose (say you are at 7 and another person is at 9), you can jump out of the chair and you won't get a debuff. They will probably fix that, but for now you can enjoy no wait times.

this event breaks often I think over the years since it was introduced I have only done it once or twice without it being bugged and the event never starting

This has got to be the stupidest holiday event ever. Needing a full group of four to even start it is pathetic when you're a solo player. Have checked REPEATEDLY and there's never anyone else around to join. AT LEAST make it so can use group finder OR have npc's if the player is solo.

Even when it works as intended, this game has really weird mechanics. It's nearly always preferable to choke than wait for a new drink, if no drinks are available (because the drink cooldown will continue to run while you choke, so you don't actually lose anything by choking, unless your drinks are capped).

Basically, going 1,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2... as fast as you can while keeping an eye on your plate (and spamming 3 as soon as the plate gets empty, then back to 2,1,2,1...) will get you very close to optimal results; you can completely ignore the "choke" bar.

This can be solo'd if you want to cheese this event, just create 3 starter edition accounts and create 3 allied race characters on each account and beat them with your main at off-peak times.
