The eggs are on top of corals scattered around the area.
To get to the eggs, use a Deepcoral Pod, it greatly increases your jump height .
Look in your bags for the item.

Don't start soaring way off the quest area like me. You will fall to your death much the way those rays don't.

If you do pet battles, there is a battle pet, Silence, in the area. Defeating it gives you a Half-Digested Deepcoral Pod. I used three magic users, got a lucky final hit, and won. I am sure WoWhead has some better strats in comments. If you turn that in, you get a Swim Jet, which shoots you up in the air. This can be used to complete this quest without having to get the Deepcoral Pod itself.

EDIT: apparently, and sadly, the Swim Jet does not stick around.. it is gone from bags now.

You use Swim Jet (while in the quest area marked on your map) to go to the top of the Corals. There you will find the eggs.

When using the spell hitting jump seems to keep you aloft as long as the spell is active. Otherwise make sure to keep the spell active. I figured you would just fall nicely, but instead I fell hard and died so be sure to use jump.

Don't try to reach the sky, specifically if you are on top of a really high coral...you won't get your body back. Ugh. Hello, rezz sickness my old friend...

When you get to the top of some of the larger corals you just have to look over the next one and see the eggs, you don't have to go mad jumping all over the place....oh and if you go out of the area enjoy the crash and burn :-)

If your like me and don't know where the f to get the items others have pointed out just go south and you will find a coral you can jump to the other ones from.

Description

I like to find the eggs of the fathom rays before they hatch so we can form a bond with them. At least, when we can't swim, we can fly! Bring me a few more eggs to start a new thing - we'll call them Rayriders!
