I killed them on one toon and paid the 1250g on another. Either way you just get the skins! Course when you pay the thieves are still alive :)

When you pay, Verd Twiceswindle says:

"Alrighty Boys! Our investment has paid off! Let's find our next score!"

And he and his goons just walk off.

And the rare skins just magically end up in your bags.

This is how i wish i could of responded, after spending all of my small amount of gold on leather to level leatherworking, only to be heckled by this guy, i was saying the following to my self: "ok, you stole these skins, and i as the upstanding hero of the horde will take them back. weather or not you choose to live, is entirly on you. so you have two options: give me the skins and live, or don't give me the skins, i kill you, and take the skins anyways. your choice."

(if you can't tell, i had a very long day that day, and needless to say, i killed them in cold blood)

I just did this quest. I decided to kill everyone instead of forking over the $1,250.00 gold. I was able to loot the chest without any problems afterwards :)

Description

I have a stash of extremely rare leathers, or... rather, I did. I don't know how, but the Venture Company must have heard how valuable my collection was because they stole it! And THEN they had the audacity to leave a note offering to sell it back to me for 1,000 gold! As the "former owner", I'm able to "best appreciate the value of their new acquisition." The note states they'll be in the bluffs to the East until someone buys them. However you get the skins, consider them yours.
