Talk to a Shadow Hunter Scout to go into stealth and if you get spotted there are Conveniently Empty Barrels along the way to hide in. The target is Knight-Captain Johnny at 33 49 who seem to take a while to respawn. When the quest is done, you get a smoke bomb that transports you back outside.

Worst quest. Good luck getting in. Good luck surviving long enough to kill the target. Good luck getting back out. And Alliance have started camping this in warmode so, you know, good luck with that too.

Insane mission. Sneak inside, wait for the target to spawn (long spawn rate), kill him, die when enough mobs around are attracted. I wish you good luck.

I recommend any invis pot in case you dont have any out of combat abilities.

this WQ has phasing issues, if you see a guard that is pvp flagged u need to go back to the scout and log out and in till u have non-flagged guards, that is how u tell if u are in the right phase

can't be bothered with this one until they fix it, you go in there and nothing is PVP or elite, the moment you attack the target suddenly you're getting fustigated by PVP elite guards.

Right, so the first trick is to NOT use any of your abilities until you get to the target... unless you're a rogue or some other stealth class. Anything else will immediately break you out of stealth.

Second trick is to go up and around to the right so that you can avoid any of the stairs and their guards.

Once in Fort Daelin proper you'll have mobs with the detection circles that we're used to seeing - they are all elite and while you can probably nuke them down if you're well-geared you will want to avoid them because there are more than a few. There are 'conveniently empty barrels' you can hide in to avoid detection. If you don't have an exit button visible, try '5' on your num pad to get out of one.

I wound up pulling Knight-Captain Johnny into the pool that he stands in front of to try and avoid pulling more than I needed. Still got one of the guards, but I was able to keep myself alive long enough to kill him and get the smoke bomb extra action button.

WTF is wrong with blizzard? A quest in these invasions that puts you smack in the middle of an Alliance town WITH PVP GD guards. Oh, and they don't tell you what you're suppose to HIDE if a guard comes close. No, no, THAT would be too simple. Nor do they tell you that elite guards can "see" you regardless if they're sporting that well known blue circle over their heads with the blue dashed circle around them letting you know what their detection range is. No, NO! That would be too SIMPLE! So, you get "caught" by one of these elite guards, and die as more and more adds join in. When you go back to your body and rez, YOU'RE FLAGGED PVF'ingP! What the hell is wrong with them! What happened to this "WARMODE" that was suppose to make it so you could CHOOSE to pvp or not?

I just LOVED the lie Ian gave at that last Q&A that they care about EVERY PLAYER, NOT JUST THOSE THAT PLAY PVP! If they did, those of us that hate it, that strictly pve play wouldn't be going through this time and TIME AGAIN!

I tried to do this on my Horde level 112 Demon Hunter in Stormsong Valley and even normal mobs were seeing me, and 2 or 3-shotting me. Turns out the scaling broke and everything was level 120. Tried going to do a different WQ and every mob I saw was 120 and I was slaughtered several times before getting very far. Finally managed to hearth out and spent over 350 gold on repairs. I've done WQs on both factions in both faction areas at 111-113 and haven't had this problem before.

When stealthed by the shadow hunter, you're not completely invisible: the sentries (guards with a blue orb over their heads) can see you if you step into their circles, but that's not all. Regular guards can also detect you if you're very close to them (less than 1m, I'd say), and using any ability (including shapeshifting) will remove the stealth effect.

Fort Daelin has multiple entries: if one is too densily crowded by guards, try the other ones. Once inside, you can jump into the fountain to avoid aggroing more guards as you fight the Knight-Captain.

Just did this for the first time, it's completely unfair to lower geared characters. When I got jumped by one elite during the fight, SIX more spawned in to kill me, then despawned when I died, leaving the first one to go back to its patrol route.
Very badly designed quest, in an Alliance flagged area.

Not as bad as others would have you think. Talk with the scouts on either side of the western end of the bridge, get stealthed, note your Extra Action smoke bomb button in case of emergency, watch for the stealth detection mobs and pull the target to a safe spot. Honestly wasn't that bad even when some noob ran in and pulled a ton of mobs on top of me.

Use /tar Knight-Captain Johnny when you're in the area and mark him. That's the NPC's name

Use the Extra Action Bar when you've killed him to "port" out of there without having to die.

Shadow Hunter Scout is at /way 37.76 47.96. on the right side of the at the west entrance at the bridge. He can be reached easily without agoing mobs or getting flagged. If you have achieved flying, this quest is very easy now.

Just about gave up on this but I went back to where I died and rezzed in the pool of water behind the NPC.

The NPC jumped in and I killed him with no problem using a 119 rouge Subtlety on an alt horde toon. Up untill then I would walk up to him in stealth and attack and in less than 3 sec I was sent to the maker by a deluge of alliance high ranking toons.

Rezzing in the water I got no response from other NPCs, only faced the target. So the solution was in the name of the Quest

Had the misfortune today of attempting to run this quest on a 113 warlock im levelling.

Unfortunately, some genius decided to put the max level naga assault WQ for the zone basically on top of where you need to start this quest, so now a bunch of non-scaling 120 normals and elites are sitting on top of the npc you need to speak to.

Advice is this: if you see a bunch of Naga when you arrive, just don't bother.
