Seems to require completing The Might of the Tirisgarde before you'll be offered this quest. I couldn't get it to appear, but got it immediately after I turned in 'The Might of Tirisgarde'.

When you leave the Oculus halfway thru the questchain you have to go back to your Order Hall to get teleported back in. This also means you have to start all over again with killing the demons.

Stage 6, where you use Greater Invisibility - make sure you pop it before you even enter the field, because it doesn't drop threat like usual if you're being attacked. Archmage Vargoth also has a tendency to die (learn 2 invis gg), but he respawns.

The final fight was a lot easier than I expected. Blink a lot and just try not to get hit too badly. I'm ilvl 829 and it took all of maybe 45 seconds to get Kathra'natir down far enough to use the Nighborne Soulstone.

When I got to Kathra'natir, I couldn't attack him or interact with him at all. To fix it, I went along the path behind him, until everything went dark, then went back. Archmage Vargoth said some lines (again?) and Kathra'natir turned and attacked me.

Not sure if it's bugged or what, but walking away and coming back seemed to sort it out. Poked around there for 5 minutes trying to figure out how to fight him.

(I was still invised when I arrived where Kathra'natir was, maybe that has something to do with it?)

This is a final quest of mage class hall campaign. Speak with Khadgar to start. There will be a scenario with few stages:

During the first stage you have to slay demons and shatter the portals by interacting with them. When you done on a ring, use a portal be fly onto another one.
Use any closest teleport to be delivered onto the central ring
Slay three mages you'll find there: Fel Magus Quorvir, Fel Magus Alyronia and Fel Magus Mordriss.
Have a talk with Vargoth
Ask Vargoth to be both teleported on the ground level.
Now you have to make your way into the center of map through groups of demons. You can ignore them and run through.
Finally, start a fight against Kathra'natir, you have to use Nightborne Soulstone when demon is below 70% of his hp to finish the fight.

Go get your title and A Glorious Campaign achievement.

After finishing the scenario it dumps you at Coldarra, you can teleport back to Hall of the Guardian to hand in.

I encountered an annoying bug on Stage 3 where one of the 3 mages you have to kill was either already dead or on another level. Because I couldn't kill him, I couldn't go on. Unfortunately the only thing to do is Port back to Hall of the Guardian, abandon the quest and re-accept. Just porting out and back in, doesn't fix it, so I had to start over from the beginning.

Once you get to the last stage, DON'T nuke Kathra'natir, dps him slowly (or just auto attack).
If you nuke him to 1% too fast, not only you won't be able to use Nightborne Soulstone, but - at least in my case - not even combat reset helped.Only restarting the scenario helped.

Be careful not to nuke Kathra'natir down too fast. I was 120 and one shot him down o 1% and then couldn't interact with the soulstone. I had to abandon the quest and completely and restart the scenario (and then just used auto-attack to get him to 70%) in order to finish this.

Encountered an issue today where the 3mages in the middle started at 1lvl elite higher then me then the last was 4lvl elite higher then me and there’s no assistance to kill them.... after dying 4 times in arcane I gave up and headed out for a diff quest I had hoping it’s just a bug but it was bs

For me it's bugged in another way -- I accept the quest and when I talk to him again right away, he has nothing to say, even though he has a white question mark on his head..

If you keep going around in circles with 4/5 portals destroyed, you missed the two at the beginning.
Jump off the edge and die then get the one you missed for 5/5.

If doing this quest currently your best bet is not to use your magic but to smack him with your staff a few times- this prevented me from killing him to quickly.

As of 2/6/2023 this scenario appears to be undoable at less than level 60 because it doesn't scale to the player's level. Fel Magus Mordriss is a level 62 elite and will blow through your mage shield in one shot and cut through half your health with another. I blew all my cooldowns, counterspelled every time it was up, managed to get him to about 25% and he still bombs you.

Sadly, the Soft Foam Sword toy, which was implemented specifically for situations like this one, doesn't currently work here, because of course it doesn't....

If you're doing this quest and you're above level, you're either going to have to smack with your staff or, resort to punching so as to not one shot Kathra'natir and have to teleport out, drop and retake quest.

After glitching the last guy using 1 Frostbolt... came here for the comments. Epic facepalm moment. Didn't trust punching him so I took ALL my gear, threw 2 ice lances, and it was enough to phase him enough to use the stone. I was level 70. Hope that helps anyone else trying to do this :)

Don't be dumb like me and run off the edge in the middle of the rings, immediately after you enter the scenario (stage 1). It teleports you to one ring from the top without any way to complete any objective or reach the portals. Its the same Ring as on Stage 3 but the 3 NPC to kill are not seen. I had to Port back to Hall of the Guardian and restart the scenario. I didn't dare fall off again.

In the Final stage, I took some of the other advice, just right clicked to auto attack with my 2H staff. I was level 70 and did not remove any weapons, and Used no magic spells. His Health it chipped health down by 20% each time and the scenario completed successfully.

Regarding the fight at the end on a level 70, he kept starting the fight at 0% HP even with no gear on, but once I abandoned the quest and restarted with no gear on from the very start, he stopped spawning at 0% HP and I was able to arcane orb him down to the HP needed

If you are doing this scenario in Dragonflight and are getting stuck on the last part with the demon make sure to do the following before going inside the nexus to start combat. Remove you weapons, trinkets, all crafting order gear that has embellishments (mainly shadowflame patches), and finally your helm (if you have the Amirdrassil enchant applied to it. Any highlevel damage proc will instant bug the mob. Just right click to punch him and wait until you get him to 70% and it will prompt the crystal to finish the scenario.

so im at the last stage of into the oculos, ( Mage Campaign) where you have to get Kathra'natir, below 70% to use the stone. im lvl 70 and no matter what i do i always 1 shoot him to 1% to where i cant use the stone. iv ask blizz but not much help there. can someone please help

I did this by pulling Kathra'natir with Counterspell and letting Vargoth fight him. Make sure you don't have anything that will reflect damage back on him if he hits you.

Vargoth will die but he respawns a few seconds later. Once Kathra'natir gets to 70%, Khadgar shows up and you can finish the scenario.

So for those of you who are returning to this with your level 70 Mages, i did it this way:
1. I used my regular abilities and had all my gear equipped up until it came time to go with Archmage Vargoth to fight Kathra'natir.
2. Right before the fight, i unequipped all my gear. I removed attack spells and just had "auto attack" - since i had no weapon equipped, I was just punching him.
3. During the fight, Vargoth would get killed but he would respawn.
4. i think Vargoth was killed 3x during the fight but once Kathra'natir got to about 69% i started to click the orb - it seemed to take a few seconds for it to "take". Once it did, the fight was over.

Don't forget to equip your gear back on :)

Just did this in TWW pre-patch, here's what happened on the final mob for me: I had taken most of my gear off (trinkets included) and was punching him down with Vargoth helping which was taking forever (doing like 20 dmg per swing) when I accidentaly got a proc of Icy Veins from the Time Anomaly talent, which spawned a water elemental. My elemental damaged the boss down slowly enough that the fight proceeded correctly even though the boss reached 1 health. Hope this helps someone!

I have a lvl 69 firee mage that just can't seem to do this scenario. The last 3 mobs are all above my level and Mordriss is 4 levels above me and kills me outright no matter what I have tried to do. What is the secret to this? Vargoth casts at him but doesn't do much damage. I have tried running and stopping just long enough to cast frostbolt at him to slow him down for Vargoth. Still doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Doing this in Legion Remix: it is possible to enter the Nexus building at the wrong level (bottom level is wrong), and then be confused about what to do. Archmage Vargoth keeps saying: "We made it! Kathra'natir is inside, just ahead." But there's nothing to find at the bottom level, and the portal to what's usually the Nexus instance is blocked.

If you're at the very bottom level, you have to follow the curving "stairs" all the way up. There are TWO platforms above the bottom level. Kathra'natir is on the top one.

If you're doing this as an overpowered level 80 BfA Frost Mage on your quest for Decor Items, be advised that Frost Nova worked quite nicely for me. 3 times the charmer and you wait out the cooldown with no harm done. Then click the sphere and you're good to go.

I fear Kathra'natir is behind the attack on Meryl. We have little time to act. I suspect Archmage Vargoth's involvement is no coincidence. While it greatly pains me to destroy an archmage of his caliber and worse, someone I once called friend, we cannot permit his betrayal to stand unpunished. It is time to follow him into the Oculus.
