This requires a beast like the Wetland Riverbeast which actually is outside of the shaded area for the quest.

Make sure you pick up the proper trap in the Barn because its not provided for the quest automatically.

I went to the Highpass flight path in Gorgrond and south west there is a small lake. Dropped a trap, got a River Beast and turned it in. Took longer to fly out there then to get it.

I tried to get some 'sort' of riverbeast directly next to the 'Bastion Rise' flight point. They wouldn't count it.

If you haven't quested in Gorgrond, the High Pass flight point will be phased and there are no River Beasts in the waters that other commenters have suggested. If this is the case, ride Northwest to Brimstone Springs (41,47) and there are Rocktusk Patriarchs to trap. Closest flight points are Skysea Point or Everbloom Wilds.

I trapped one over in Gorgrond (one of the level 100 boars there), got the "Meaty Caged Beast" in my inventory, but I can't turn in the work order. It shows that I have one of these, but won't let me start the work order. You don't have to be level 100 to do this, do you? My toon is level 98 but nothing indicates you need to be 100.

Also don't think 'whilst i am here I'll trap five of these and hand them in after the quest'. The completion of the quest will take all of them away. So get one and get handing in.

if you are trying this at a higher lvl and struggling not killing it,

use the soft foam toy in your toy box

Is there any way to complete this at lvl 120? I am back doing things with my 120, i405 Mag'har hunter and even with all my gear removed, no pet out and a straight melee hit, they die in one shot and can't be trapped.

If anyone knows a trick, it would be much appreciated.

use soft foam sword
than quest item

As of 10.2 you can get completely naked, and then use Whole-Body Shrinka' and auto attack. 1 hit still did like 25% of it's health, but it ended up working. It's a 30 min cooldown, but will work to at least get the quest done.

Feeding An Army

Use the Improved Iron Trap to capture a Boar or Riverbeast in Gorgrond and then place a Work Order at your Barn.

Description

We've had a chance to work with these beasts for a while now, and that's allowed us to develop a brand-new trap for you to try out. It should be much sturdier than the last one!

Mind giving 'er a run, commander? The Improved Iron Trap will let you capture some of the meatiest wildlife, like the big boars and riverbeasts out in Gorgrond. We'll be able to turn them into some tasty steaks.
