The only elite part to this quest is the level 48 elite guard you have to take out at the top of each tower. They aren't too difficult, and there's only one elite per tower. Shaman soloed this easily at level 52-53.

Remember that once you beat the guard, you have to equip the torch and look for the small spot at the front of the tower's second level that you can use in order to light the flame.

You actually don't even have to fight the elite. Just run past with the torch equipped, light the fire and flee.

I think it's safe to destroy the torch after you completed the quest.

Western Tower Ablaze - 35, 60

Southern Tower Ablaze - 33,54

Eastern Tower Ablaze - 44,61

Northern Tower Ablaze - 50,54

They are on the tower, pay close attention to the floor they tend to camoflauge

This last part of the chain was easier than getting the Thorium Plated Blades. Completed with one other party as a lvl 46 Lock. Tanked VW, and DoT proved effective enough.

It seems you need to have the Torch of Retribution equipped in order to burn the towers.

I keep trying to light the southern tower but it refuses to give me credit... I guess it's bugged or something.

the towers are visable on the map, you can't miss them... and southern tower is @ 44.60 .. but hey... just check the map and you see where they are:)

its pretty easy quest u can see all the towers.. i soloed this quest with my 50 rogue just using sap and then using the Torch of Retribution

You dont really NEED to kill these lvl 48 elites if you don't want to. You can just equip the fire torch, run up, right click on that circlish thing to set the tower on fire, and run away to the next tower. Setting a tower on fire its instant you dont have to kill anyone. Rush in, set tower on fire, rush out.

if your a mage and lazy to kill the elites at each of the tower. you can polly morph and run to the bazier. jump off the biulding and run to the next etc.

do i keep the staff after? i like it and did all towers at lvl 47 hunter very easy but i havent turned in yet because i want to keep the staff, can u tell me if i keep it when completing? :)

Easy easy quest. As a 48 Feral Druid you can just stealth pass the Sentinels, just hug the corners of the turn. The Feral Instinct talent helps this a bunch I imagine.

You can also stealth and drop off the tower. No fall damage. So really, you don't even have to enter "In Combat" status at any point during this quest, lol.

When you take the Sentinel at the top of each tower, the Braziers are located on the right far corner from the top of the upwards ramp.

after patch 2.3 it is no longer elites standing by the towers, so now it is an evenmore easy quest, and is soloable at 45 :)

The old npc Sentery watch has been replaced with a dark iron lookout, this quest is soloable as long you can survive running in and light it up. I did this very easy as an 52 hunter, so to save time just mount up and run to second floor, light it and flee. The quest gives you 11000 xp, at least upto level 52.

It could be a time saver to do this with the "STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass"- http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7728
so you can do two at the same.

Before you can even get this quest you have to complete The Torch of Retribution chain. I thought the Dragonflight Leggings would be an easy to acquire 49 BG item. Not so with the other five quests you have to do before it.

Since they're no longer elite, this quest is easy (at least for a lvl 49 frost mage).
You can just pull every lookout one by one, including the one in the towers.

this quest was redicilous, i dont know if it was a patch or something.
but i didnt fight any elites i solo'd at lvl 46 mage. mobs where like lvl 45-48.
No problems at all, this Q has to be checked up, it was red for me but it should've been yllow!

After you done the unlocking part fore the quest, can you destroy the staff then?

When you have done this last step, it seems npc near Squire is gone?

And take now a look at the box, which Squire suddenly looked at it. Yes, it's like 'open this box now'. Inside the box you get some 'bonus' items and the important Black Dragonflight Molt, needed for A Taste of Flame quest http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4023.

You must loot box twice, to get the items. Good luck.

For this quest you dont actually need to kill anything you can simply run through instant light it up and continue on to the next one, and ofc rogues have the advantage with that.

Easy quest, Great xp definately worth doing.

Had no problem soloing this as a 48-49 warrior (Lvl half way though it) Most of the towers are guarded by just 1 look out. But the last (Think the East) has 3 guards out front a bridge with another guard on it then the area below the tower was another then there is a guard in the tower itself. No need to fight all of them. Attack from the left draw the guard in front of the bridge, sneak by the 2 others wait in the middle to get the next then kill the other 2 and you're done. Watch out for the spiders and elementals. All guards are 48-49

I hate those Heavy War Golems. What a pain. I can beat them no problem as a 49 Warrior, but they just keep getting in the way. Gah!

This quest was really easy. The hardest part was clearing out the guards around it, but they're average lvl'ed of 47 so they weren't really that much of a challenge. I was actually disappointed that it was a tiny little pan that was lit. I was hoping that the whole tower top would burn but alas, its a tiny little pan fire.

The trickiest one to get to is the the one off the edge of the cauldron. You have to go across the bridge. When I got there, there were 4 workers and an elemental even before I got across the bridge and two workers on the other side.

Very anti-climactic quest...until the giant dragon appears. Still not sure what that was about.

I always forget to swap the Torch with my main weapon after i light a brazier. Leads to some very annoying fist fights...

if u get the axe 2 sell, u can double the money u make from the quest rewards - (completion reward = 2.3g) + (vendor axe = 2.41g) = 4.71g :D

Small detail left out, you can't just target the towers and light them on fire (like 99.9% of similar quests). Instead you have to run around on the platforms until you find a brazier and light it from there. Makes no sense, but what does in this game.

With Blizz's helper, all you have to do is connect the dots. On the map, mouse over the one that shows you the quest name. Do that, and it will switch targets to the next. Generally, it will go from southern-most, and then around the cauldron to the right.

You have to run up onto the platforms of the tower and light the tiny little sentry braziers to "set the tower ablaze."

the braziers are very little items on one of the corners on the first floor outside the tower

Was somewhat confused because the towers were already ablaze. But i found the tiny braziers sparkling like loot on the 1st platform up inside the ball of flames. I was then able to "light" the tower which was already burning simply by lighting a tiny torch brazier. silly.

The sentry braziers are tiny little pot looking sparkles on the corners of the towers, easily overlooked. The cog cursor will pop up when it's clickable. Hope this helps.

Set Them Ablaze!

This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.

Set the North, South, East, and West Sentry Towers on fire by using the Torch of Retribution inside each of the buildings.

Description

Listen well, <name>. While the four towers can never be destroyed, you can use the torch of retribution to set them ablaze for a very long period of time: A fire that no element or force can subdue.

While they are ablaze, no guard or sentry unit can inhabit the watch posts and thus, their first line of defense is nullified.

You must enter each tower and use the Torch of Retribution within their fortifications. Beware the lookouts posted by the Dark Irons, <name>.
