Just hit exalted with Sunreaver Onslaught today, and can confirm this quest becomes available, even with the server at only stage 2.

Edit: Interesting to note, after completing this quest, a miniature Anima Golem appears near the map that starts the quests, and buffs you with a 30 minute buff granting +15% damage on the Isle of Thunder.

Just got exalted with the Sunreaver Onslaught and got this quest as well.
You don't need to unlock the other stage areas to complete this quest.
Dark Animus is a boss within Throne of Thunder raid.
You just need a raid to go kill and use the Attuned Crystal on him and loot Remnants of the Animus.

This quest can now be completed in LFR (Halls of Flesh-Shaping) ~~once the 3rd part of Throne of Thunder will be unlocked on April 3rd (EU~~). Otherwise you can already complete in normal difficulty.

It's somehow frustrating that it yields 1000rep (2000 with Grand Commendation of the Sunreaver Onslaught) toward Sunreaver Onslaught when we just got exalted with them... Would have been nice toward Shado-Pan Assault :)

As the quest suggests, you must kill the Dark Animus in order to complete it.

You can do it by killing him in Throne of Thunder on Normal/Heroic difficulty (already available), or by killing him on LFR difficulty (not yet available, only April 2nd on US servers, or April 3rd on EU servers ).

After killing him, use Attuned Crystal and loot Remnants of the Animus.

After completing the quest, you'll trigger a short RP, after which a friendly Animus Golem will spawn. Going near it will grant you the buff Blessing of the Animus, lasting 30 minutes.

If you are unable to complete this quest, check to see if you have Decisive Action in your quest log. It appears bugged as of now. If you have Decisive Action in your log, then you'll need to complete the Decisive Action one-man scenario before being able to complete Life Blood.

If you're like me, you'd spent more than 3 weeks from picking up the quest to being able to kill Dark Animus.

In that time, I'd COMPLETELY forgotten that you had to use the stupid attunement crystal in order to receive the quest item.

When I did kill the boss, it was spockling like it had loot, but I couldn't loot it. Naturally assuming that Blizzard had made yet ANOTHER mistake, I left the instance and sent in a GM ticket.

It was only when I was checking forums for other people reporting the same issue that I realised "THE CRYSTAL!".

Went back in and boss had despawned.

Don't be like me. Remember the crystal.

Be sure you have an empty bag slot to hold the new item containing the Remnants.

After killing Animus and seeing his sparkly body, I targeted and clicked the Attuned Crystal. After the siphoning was complete I received the "Inventory Full" message however the crystal disappeared, so I couldn't make a space and try again. No crystal ... no siphoning ... no complete status.

Have submitted a bug / ticket but expect I'll have to return to try again. Lor'themar does not offer the option to receive another crystal so the quest needs to be abandoned and re-acquired.

I 2nd what Stereotype had said. You need to hit exalted with the Sunreaver Onslaught for this quest to show up.

I had completed this on my main and 2 alts while the isle was being unlocked and now just completed with another. With all the wings unlocked, you'll most likely be able to do the Halls of Flesh Shaping wing before hitting exalted, so you can either do it all in one run then get this quest on another week, or if you have other alts, you could always feed your toon with Sunreaver Onslaught Insignia's and Greater Sunreaver Onslaught Insignia's.

It would be a great opportunity to reward this companion pet. :/
This Standard as reward is as silly as getting tabards for the factions after you are already exalted with them. Why not making them available when we hit revered, just to boost the reputation? Tabards of Pandaria factions are useless for reputation, they only count towards tabard related achievements.

Couldn't find the completed item in my bags or bank, but was able to turn it in anyway. Guess it got removed during one the patches.

Finally managed to get to Animus and kill him. After looting him I looked for the crystal in my bag and when I had found it, after a quick look, the corpse had already despawned. The lesson is to use it before the last person loots.

Just kill the Dark Animus in Throne of Thunder then use the quest item.

Description

Scouts unearthed this strange construct hidden within the Lightning Vein Mine. A secret weapon of the Thunder King no doubt.

Perhaps, there is a chance we can use this discovery to our benefit. If we can re-animate it, we can study it. More importantly, we can discover its weakness.

Go to the Throne of Thunder and use this crystal to capture whatever essence animates these constructs.

Return to me when the task is complete.
