A short cut to Nat

Go to Jade Forest
Cut across water to the little islands go from on to next until you his large land mass (Congrats you've entered the southern part of The Valley of the Four Winds)
Follow Krasharang beach until it ends into rock/water, you've entered Turtle beach
Cut across water (toward mountain/rock) water is shallow can ride across DO NOT enter deeper water
Hug the mountain/rock "Norsong Spires" keeping on your left and go through the deep water "Narsong Trench" (FAST) can aggro level 90 sharks.
Head towards the huts closest to you (not on the beach)
Nat sitting in the boat under an umbrella

This is one of three quests you can get from fishing quest starters in Pandaria.

Usually I catch the Flying Tiger Gourami near Binan Village in Kun-Lai Summit.

The other two rare fishes are:

Spinefish Alpha and Mimic Octopus. They are unique and you can complete the quests once per day to increase your reputation with Nat Pagle and The Anglers. By now this is the only way to make Nat Pagle your Buddy and get his special faction rewards. After giving away your rare catch of course you can try to get a new one for next days turn in.

You'll also need these 3 rare fishes for Pandarian Angler.

Build 15929: At the moment this is the only working quest. When trying the other two you only loose your quest starters :-(

There seems to be a lot of good info about fish locations, so I’m going to give a quick hint that’s given me lots of success.

* * * * * Fish at any specific location for no more than 5 min before moving on to a new location or just taking a break. Chances are if you haven't caught it in 5 min you wont catch it sitting there for an hour. * * * * *

It's a drop rare, you're going to have the same chance to get it no matter how long you fish, so instead of doing nothing but fishing for fishing dailies, go play WoW, the fish will still be there.

The route I use is Inkgill lake (70, 86), The Arboretum (54, 45), Dojani River (63, 31), and anywhere in Angler's Wharf. Sometimes I do them all back to back, sometimes one and then go do something else, but every fish I have caught so far has been within the first 10 casts for that specific 5 min stint.

Hopefully this works for others and helps cut down the time people spend fishing instead of exploring Pandaria!

I tried today and I managed to catch all 3 rare fishes. The quest is repeatable however you can return each only once per day. Means you can gain up to 1650 rep (guild perk) with Pat Nagle per day. Don't forget it's all about fishing so don't expect to catch it with few casts, it takes time!

Location for these are:
Flying Tiger Gourami - 62,40 Jade Forest
Spinefish Alpha - 37,23 Dread Wastes
Mimic Octopus - 71,47 Krasarang Wilds

I've had two of these drop for me within minutes of first cast in the little mountain lake behind White Tiger Temple in Kun-Lai Summit. Look for the Hungry Yeti and the Tiger Gourami pools and you have found the place.

I caught one with a stupidly low fishing skill (sub 200) in the streams near The Arboretum in Jade Forest, whilst blindly hoping to catch Golden Carp for the Cloud Serpent cooking daily.

Apparently according to pagle, only royalty are allowed to eat them , anyone anyone else caught eating them is put to death. Somehow I don't think this is heavily enforced by the pandarens.

i dont think these fish have a zone limit i just caught this fish in summer fields in vale of eternal blossoms, in the lake right where sahn tiderhunter spawns. actually caught it in a emperor salmon school

My only question is this.

Are you able to obtain an other in bags before returning or you need to return it first before getting an other... I'm trying for sea turtle so you can imagine how many casts I'm doing.

If you're anything like me you may run into a situation where you can't remember if you've done this quest today (as it's a daily) or not, or if it was an alt who caught the Flying Tiger Gourami. I found a quick way to find out without spending time fishing up the Flying Tiger Gourami just to get the "You have completed that daily quest today." error message.

All you have to do is copy/paste the following into your chat log and hit enter. It will tell you if (and only if) you still need to catch one. If nothing shows up you have already turned in your Flying Tiger Gourami today.

For the Mimic Octopus use

If you are doing these every day for the rep for Nat I've found that the best place to catch them is in the veiled stair tunnel. There are plenty of tiger schools & since you are already at the Inkgill Mere to get the spinefish alpha fish this is just a short turn around from there to fish up & you don't really have to fly out of your way anyplace else to get them. And since you will have the spinefish alpha & the flying tiger then when you turn them in you can fish off the pier next to Nat for the mimic octopus. All in one stop vs flying in circles.

I do not know when it was implemented, but as of now Ben of the Booming Voice who is just outside Halfhill market gives a hint everyday as to where a rare fish may be caught quickly. He will direct you to an area with a lot of crowded pools of fish. And I get Nat Pagle quests within a few catches everytime. It will only drop the one quest that is dedicated to that fish/pool though but still better than the endless grind hoping for a rare fish to drop.

I'm a level 67 monk and caught this on the peak of serenity. I'm not sure what to do with it. Hang on to it for another twenty levels or so, I guess...

I flew to Binan village and just caught this in two casts at the Veiled Stair in the Ancient Tunnel. I was not casting in a school.

On my third or fourth cast, I moved to a pool and caught the tiny white carp companion.

Fishing level: 431
No special rod, lures, or equip.

Edit: It's a gamble, really. Tried this again a day later, and I lost count of the casts. So, I think it's like fish poker; we can try to help the odds with experience, but there is always luck involved.

For the Flying Tiger and the Spinefish I've found it better to fish pools. I've tried open water for both and each time I've tried that it has taken me at least 10 minutes to catch the quest fish, while when fishing pools it usually goes much quicker. The tigers I've caught in various pools but for the Spinefish I've gone solely with their pools for the best luck. At least that has been how my luck has gone.

I didn't see this information posted anywhere else, so I figure I'll post it in case anyone is trying to catch up with Nat rep.

The Mimic Octopus is fished up from the ocean along the outer edges of the continent.

The Flying Tiger Gourami is fished up from inland water sources that are moving; rivers and streams.

The Spinefish Alpha is fished up from inland stagnant water sources; lakes/ponds and such.

You just have to move bodies of water to acquire all three rep items.

In case you were wondering, if you fish this and have Nat Pagle at your garrison fishing shack in Draenor, you still have to go to Krasarang Wilds to turn the quest in, even though the reputation is shared between the "two" Nat Pagles.

was fished up in Jade Forest and I never ever have had it fish up from there. Though I have fished it every time behind the brewery in Valley of the Four winds at or around /way 42 72 and is fished up at or around /way 62 40 in the Jade forest
And every day I fish up at /way 37 22 in Dread Wastes
Hope this helps you fish them up faster and more easily also I tend to fish them all up turn them all in then fly to the points and re-fish them up so that i can have them in my bags and ready to go for the next days turn in! Happy Fishin folks!
