Listening to Fish Fellreed's story, she talks about a lost map, Old Map is this map, which is found in Valley of the Four Winds, and which starts a quest. The Map quest will eventually lead to getting this quest and going into the blocked off cave in the North of the zone.

**Update**: Hotfix Oct 25th 2012 has now made this quest completable.
There is still an outstanding issue of the cave exit being blocked by rubble so I recommend hearthing after completing this quest and picking up "The Heartland Legacy"

This quest bugged out for me and I can't finish it. My computer crashed during the quest when I was halfway through the cavern and when I re-logged, Fish was no where to be found so I couldn't get credit when I located the chest.
I abandoned, and tried again but now she will not "discover" the cave entrance as part of the quest. I tried: re-zoning, re-logging, being invited by a player from a different realm, and all combinations. I logged it as a bug in game I hope it is addressed in the next few weeks.

This quest seems really buggy. Fish was with me when I discovered the cave, but I was never able to open the cave. I tried flying and running up to it, nothing.

I dropped the quest and picked it up again, and finally was able to click the rocks. However, I can't seem to get credit for "finding the cave entrance". I've danced around all over the place near the front, and that objective just isn't triggering. I went on to finding the treasure, which worked like a charm, but I can't turn the quest in without completing the cave requirement.

Well my problems seemed to have populated at the end of the quest.

I killed the fish to get the map, handed the map in, went and talked to the people to figure out the clues, went back to Fish and then finally went to find the entrance to the cave.

I was able to click on the rocks and they fell to rubble. I stealthed thru the whole cave until the end because I didn't feel like killing any of the spiders. When I got to the end of the cave I could see Old Man Thistle's Treasure and a big spider that needed to be killed. Surprisingly the spider was easy to kill even tho I'm a resto druid. The spider rains some stuff that doesn't hit very hard and slows your movement by throwing a web over you...no biggie.

After I killed the spider I clicked on the chest and looted Old Man Thistle's Treasure.
I stealthed back to the beginning of the cave but I couldn't click on the rubble to exit the cave.
I logged off then back in b/c I thought maybe it was having that problem where you couldn't interact with certain items unless you logged.

But nope that wasn't the problem. Logged back in and still couldn't click on the cave entrance rubble.

I ended up hearthing and then flying back to Half Hill.

P.S.
I had trouble finding where Seedkeeper Shing Sing was so to make it easy for you:

1. Find where Nana Mudclaw house is and face the entrance.
2. Turn to your left and you will see a bush covering up the cave entrance.

Who knew there was a cave in Half Hill? Not me.

At the moment, I highly recommend that you make sure your hearthstone is off cooldown when you go in. It is possible to stealth in and get to the chest and the single mob guarding it without aggro-ing any of the other mobs . Unfortunately, when you return to the entrance, it seems it is blocked by rubble again, and it does not respond to clicking. If you die in the cave your ghost can go through the rubble which will be in front of the entrance again.

I found the cave and got credit for that. Then entered and died on the way to the chest lol. Fortunately my body was outside of the cave. Rezzed and Fish was still with me but I couldn't click on the pile of rocks. Flew back to Fish on the docks thinking that maybe I could talk to him but I didn't want to abandon the quest because of what everyone else said earlier about losing their credit for finding the cave. Flew back to the cave entrance and still couldn't open it so I was about to write up a ticket but decided to try one more thing first. I did /reload ui while in front of the cave and when I loaded back in I was able to click on the rocks. Found chest and was able to complete the quest but then couldn't get back out of cave because couldn't click on rocks, so I hearthed out. Hope this helps anyone that is having
the same problem. :)

For those of us who have had this bug out and been unable to get credit for finding the cave entrance:
Wait for a day when Fish has a daily, go to the cave entrance and accept the daily from her when she appears. Then fly off a bit from the entrance and back to it. Should give you credit for finding it and allow you to click on the stones again.
Did this yesterday and it worked like a charm.
I do hope they fix this at some point though.

Seems to be working fine. The only problem I had was going into the cave before "discovering the cave" which is the first part of the quest. Had to go back to the entrance and take the rubble down from inside and then I "discovered the cave". Mobs re spawned but they are not a big problem.
TLDR. Don't rush into the cave when you get there.

I've run into a different bug. Got into the cave without issue, found and killed the spider, but the chest still had a grey ? over it. You'd think that, standing next to it, I'd have discovered the treasure... but apparently not.

Anyway, logging out and back in while standing at the treasure seemed to fix this, although I did have to fight the spider again.

Word of warning to those who might do what I did and rush in thinking the spiders don't look that bad - they actually hit kinda hard if you've got two big ones spitting 20k hits at you every second or so and three little ones stacking up a poison that ends up also ticking for 20k+. Yes, I died, and yes, it was embarrassing, luckily nobody else was there to see :-P Lesson learned and it was fine when I actually took care with my pulls - for stealth classes I recommend just using your skills to avoid the fights entirely!

If you are having problems with completing the quest due to the NPC not being there, what you need to do is simply to die (preferably near the cave entrance) and corpserun, the NPC should spawn together with you after you've corpseran and then you simply just run up to the chest with it.

Also, if you are locked out of the cave despite being on the quest because of HSing out or so, you can die just outside it and run through the blocked off entrance while as a ghost and you will ress inside.

Once you are in the cave there are three possible bugs that can happen:
1. Exit it blocked. Solution: Have to hearth out when quest is completed.
2. Fish disappears. Solution: Relog.
3. Grey ? over the treasure chest after you kill the big spider. Solution: Fish has to be present when you kill the spider. If she is not, follow step 2, wait for the spider to respawn and kill it again.
All these bugs happened to me so that's how I know >.<

I had to hearth out of cave! I think its a bug with the the cave entrance, I logged over night, and still had to hearth in the morning!

Aye, still bugged as of 5.1 - essentially, on your way back out, the rocks you rolled over to escape have reformed with no cogwheel.

Once you get the treasure, save yourself fighting back out (depending on class) and just hearth.

When you are in front of the blocked cave, do not log out to see if that could help you.

Have done so and since i am not able to relog that character.
All the others characters are fine.

Opened a ticket, but after 2 days still no response from a GM.

1) The way from the graveyard is straight down.

2) If somebody else has killed the end spider (like the Hordie who watched me almost die twice as I cleared the cave for her), the treasure chest is still grayed out--but when you approach you can grab it anyway.

3) I also recommend the chickenrock.

As of 1/11/13 the cave entrance is still bugged - you can't get a gear on the rubble. I just logged off and logged back in again to get the gear. Note of warning: the spiders that spawn are the same level as you and they deal a lot of damage, especially if you get 3-4 at a time. I'm a level 90 druid with ilvl 439 gear. Got killed deep in the cave and couldn't get close enough to my body to rez because the rubble had reswawned and couldn't get a gear. The boss spider doesn't do much damage but takes a while to kill.

A little note to my Rogue brothers and sisters, you can just stealth your way to the back of the cave, sap the spider, and loot the chest. But you still have to hearth out of the cave since it re-caves in.

A little tip for everyone, make sure your hearthstone is off cooldown before you go in, otherwise you're in for a wait.

However, I had 2 Fish ! .... not that she helped a great deal :)
Definitely hearthstoned after picking up the chest though

This quest was bugged for me a few times. I accepted the quest, flew to the cave and the gearwheel didn't show up for me. I relogged and the gearwheel showed up.
I made my way down to the end, killed the spider and the ? was still grey. I started walking away from the chest and the ? turned yellow and I was able to complete it and accept the next part.
I walked back up to the cave entrance and it was blocked with no gearwheel. I tried relogging but I still couldn't get out. I had to hearth out.
I picked up the last part, and went back to Halfhill for turn in. Flew around and around looking for the turn in. I had to come back to Wowhead to find that there is a small cave hidden by a bush between the large house where Stonecarver Mac is hammering, and a small empty hut.
Very time consuming trying to complete this, so maybe what I did may help you get through it a little quicker.

If you die inside the cave while doing the quest, you can walk through to rubble that blocks the cave. Don't rez outside the cave, walk through the rubble dead and rez inside.

As of patch 5.2, I still had great problems with this quest. I found the cave and looked for Fish Felreed at the entrance, but she wasn't there, nor did she spawn when I right clicked the rocks and opened the cave and went in. Fast forward, I found myself at the end of the cave in front of the spider and treasure chest, and here's what happened and how I fixed it:

First off, I'm a hunter, and stupidly (not knowing this quest had issues), I tamed the spider. This may have caused problems, I don't know. I'd advise killing it first and taming it's respawn. At this point, the chest wouldn't let me loot it or finish the quest, kept it's gray question mark. I looked up the quest at this point, found it had issues, and did as recommended and relogged. This caused two Fish Felreeds to appear at my side. Twins! Spider respawned, and I killed it.

Still, quest was broken.

I relogged a couple times, no result but still 2 Fish NPCs following me, so I went back to the entrance of the cave, and suddenly it informed me I had found the entrance and was apparently a required part of the quest, because now this part was completed. Back to the chest, and now I could complete it, loot it, and take the follow up.

So, save yourself trouble, you have to get Fish to appear at the entrance, not when you're already inside, or you won't be able to complete the quest or get your loot. Relogging anywhere inside the cave should cause her to spawn (maybe twice) and then "re-find" the entrance again with her, should fix the problem.

Hope this helps those who weren't helped by the other comments, like my situation!

First time I had to use Life Cocoon on my Mistweaver... Used it to survive the spiders on the way to and from the chest. Kind of apt though.

I was curious if anyone else was running into this. i got the treasure chest and looted it but, its still in my inventory. i have exited the game and relogged in but its still there. After waiting a day i tried to re access it this morning and its still showing but wont reopen any ideas folks?

I have a slightly different problem:
I was in a raid group when I discovered the entrance so naturally I didn't get credit. I figured I'll come back at some point after the raid.
When I went back to actually do the quest, Fish didn't make her usual "ooh, a cave!" schpeal that she does when you get credit for finding the entrance... she just trudged on in with me. And, as I feared, I could get the treasure but I can't get credit for finding the cave. Running back out, relogging, nothing worked.

Reading these comments here, I'm afraid that abandoning won't do anything either, so I filed a ticket. Will edit with GM's reply when I get one.

Since 5.3, if you always have it in your bank or inventory (the chest remains, empty, after open it)
You can open it one more time now, he give me two bags of seeds and disappear for good.

This was one of the better treasure chests I have opened.

I received Wild Jade, Primordial Ruby, Primal Diamond, Vermillion Onyx, Imperial Amethyst, Sun's Radiance, Rivers Heart, a bag of Songbell seeds, and Magebulb seeds and 100 gold.

I was quite surprised.

Not a sniff of this quest on the previous occasions that I had to get the Grouper tooth, but what great fun it is.

N.B. You need to speak to Fish Felreed to get her to tell the story & then meet you at the cave entrance. If you don't do this you won't get credit for finding the cave.

N.B.2 The spiders do hit quite hard, but it's the black & orange mobs that seem to do most damage, so beware of these if you take on one of the biggies in combat. They scuttle around the cave in random patterns.

The cave is an exact copy of the Oona Hozen cave in Jade Forest (Cloud Serpent dallies), so use knowledge of that to get to the treasure. One good thing is that this cave is nowhere near as heavily mobbed as the Oona.

The treasure sits on the island in the lower cavern (just like Big Kah Oona), but is guarded by a huge spider. You need to take this beast out first. Doesn't hit too hard though.

Rewards are very good, chest contains valuable goodies + 100G so worth the effort. Good hunting.

I did this quest yesterday (March 23rd) with no issues.
***You need to be Exalted with the Tillers and Best Friends with all the members before the map will drop***

1) Talk to Fish Felreed- She's either at the dock (Cattail Lake) or in the Halfhill, have her tell you the story about Old Man Thistle's
2) If not already at the docks go there, and kill the Enormous Grouper to get the map
3) Bring the map back to her - she'll give you a new quest (Just A Folk Story) You'll need to go to Halfhill (If you aren't already there) and speak with the 4 people
3.5) Go back to Fish Felreed to turn in Just A Folk Story and pick up "Old Man Thistle's Treasure"
4) Go to the cave (NW of the docks- it'll be marked on the map) 37/24
5) If you don't see Fish right away dismount and stand infront of the cave. She'll show up behind you with dialog.
6) Once Fish is visible, you can start your adventure, you should get the first part of the quest either when you land in front of the cave or shortly there after. Click the the rocks to get started.
7) As stated in previous posts the spiders do hit a little hard but for a 90 with average dps, should have no problem (Did this on a 90 MM Hunter w/o pet) - If you walk over the eggs they will spawn little baby spiders so if you're having trouble don't go near the eggs. The Echoweb Cinderfang are the small roaming spiders they'll do the most damage.
8) Follow the cave (If you've been to the Timeless Isle its the same cave, the final spider and chest are where Rock Moss spawns)
9) SquishEchoweb Toxiclaw and steal the loots!
10) Depending on how long it took you to get there, you might have a clear shot back out (managed to get back out before the spiders spawned again about 2 min) The rocks at this point have falling back, just click to get out. If you had trouble getting it, just hearth out and fly back to Halfhill
11) You'll need to turn the quest in to Seedkeeper Shing Sing (53/47) She's in a cave within the tallest rock of Halfhill (The rock that's behind the shed on your farm)

Not entirely certain if this belongs here or on the individual beast pages, but here goes!

MY HUNTER FRIENDS! Want those challenge mode spiders you heard about in Cata but were too difficult/time consuming/a general pain in the patoot to tame? Well, here you go! You can tame ALL the spiders in this cave, and they share skins with the challenge mode ones. That means you can get red, orange, yellow and green from this one little cave.

Folks should have already been doing the farms for the mats and getting the trinkets to turn in to the various Tillers is as easy as turning ground clutter to LOW. In fact, I got my hunter up in an evening of flying around the Heartland.
