The tomb is not actually on the "highest rise." If you come to a small cave called Emperor Rikktik's Rest, you are too high up. Follow the path back to the north, then make the first two rights you come to.

As for the quest itself, in the current beta build it's quite dull. There is a named troll (Nakk'rakas) in the tomb. You will only be able to hit him once to aggro him, then he will go immune and begin awakening the stone guardians around him one by one by one. I think I killed five before his shield dropped and I was able to finish him off.

Current build seems to be bugged and wont complete when the troll dies, regardless of tagging.

quest is bugged, but we cat finish him:
For this you must kill third Imperial Guard near entrance of Tomb of Secrets (after stairs 53.2 x 49.9).
After that you have 1 second to kill Nakk'rakas.
I kill him in goup with moonkin that kill 3rd Imperial Guard near stairs and I, as a frost mage, was near Nakk'rakas and kill him with instant frost bolt (or Ice Lance with Fingers of frost)

This working because Protection of Zian is turn off with death of Imperial Guard, but damage to Nakk'rakas is flying to him some time, that depend on a distance from corpse of Guard to boss

The Tongue of Ba-Shon can only be used in certain areas. If you complete a quest where you must use the item to communicate with Cho, you should stay in the area of the quest before moving on to do something else.

I had several other quests in the same general area. I moved on to do something else and then started looking around to try to turn in quests that required invoking the Tongue of Ba-Shon. I got a message about not being in the right zone. There are several quests in this chain that require you use the item, complete one and pick up next in the chain.

Right now (5.0.4), you can safely finish one quest, call Cho and accept the next quest in the chain without being mobbed. They don't seem to aggro immediately when they spawn, so you can safely stand in one place for a few seconds while you deal with taking the next quest.

I got killed and lost my way back to the area for this and I don't have flying yet so this was a pain in the backside to find.

From One Keg, take the path out of One Keg past the cave with the Mischievous Snow Sprites(A quest you did while in One Key), and just a just little bit past that cave there is a path leading up in to the mountains that will lead you to the stairs. The path starts at 60.9, 52.5.

The entrance to Tomb of Secrets is to the left as you go up the stairs and up a path a little ways.
The entrance to the Tomb is at 53.3, 49.1

I was wondering around looking for the next quest and found the Neverest Basecamp not too far away. If you are at Neverest Basecamp, return to where you did "One Traveler's Misfortune" turn left and go past the first path on the right and take the second path on the right, there maybe a pat on the trail. The tomb will be down a ways on the right hand side.

If the quest bugs out for you and the second guardian instantly despawns along with Nakk'rakas, dismiss your pet and do this quest solo. Somehow my Warlock pet interfers with the quest mechanic.

Just in case - at patch 6.0 this quest is bugged. Nakk'rakas just shields himself and despawns, along with the statues, when aggroed. Multiple threads on the official forums have confirmed this. If this happens to you and you cannot complete the quest, submit an ingame bug report.

Hello all!

Just wanted to let you know that there’s a bug right now with this quest. Nakk'rakas is despawning during the encounter, making it impossible to complete the quest. Our developers are already investigating this and looking for a solution. Thanks for your patience!

i managed to kill Nakk'Rakas still with the bugg in effect.

i had my hunter pet taunt him so nakk'rakas started channeling his spell on my pet and finished him off, might work the same for warlocks

You're still able to complete the quest if you oneshot him. Just make sure, as a melee class, that you don't autoattack right before your big hit. Check your combat log!

You literally only get one hit in. An autoattack + instant ability will only deal the autoattack's damage. As a Ret paladin, this meant that I couldn't use Templar's verdict to off him, because it would always autoattack first. Finally managed to do it with a Hammer of Wrath crit along with using some consumables and Holy Avenger, but certainly nothing you'd be able to pull off while leveling.

The amount of damage you need to be able to do is 10K.

So here's how I did it on a rogue:

I stood by the statues stealthed, throw distract and make him turn around and then attack, kill him, quest complete.

Weird.

If you are able to kill him in one-shot that might work. Worked for me as a MM hunter, I just used aimed shot and it oneshot him.

Really cheesed off with this, no feedback from Blizzard drones, and the problem still exists.

All I ask for is move the quest on to the next in chain, but they can't seem to be able to do that.

I am stuck with 2 characters that cannot progress on the chain. The GM's say we can't help, we are looking at it.

Just completed this quest earlier today even though there is still a bug known even with patch 6.0.3. I found that if you use a spell strong enough to take down his health in one hit it'll complete the quest. On my druid using Starfire seemed to do the job. Hope this helps anyone still needing to complete this quest.

Easiest one-shot method for a WW Monk (that I used, anyway) is pop 2 Chi Brews, Paralyze, then ToD. DO NOT autoattack him as it will break the paralysis and he'll poof. Even with 2 brews, without him paralyzed he will simply poof after aggro before you can get the ToD in.

For Hunters and Rogues, to complete this quest While the bug is still in place. Stealth / Camouflage ( Dismiss Pet ) and walk through him he will attack you without De-spawning. Burn him down and Quest complete.

This is dumb, its bugged and i cant lvl my 89 to 90 -.-, iam on 63% and was gonna try and get loremaster of kun -lai before wod, i guess that dream jump'd in the toilet, ugh ._.

Myself playing a shadow priest and a friend playing a BM hunter got stuck at this quest today and being only lvl 87 we couldn't do enough damage in one go to complete it. Out of frustration I used Dominate Mind to see if I could move him to a different position, he would not move but on cancelling the effect he attacked and we killed him easily. I don't know why this worked but it did, hope it helps any other priests stuck on this quest.

Pet classes will probably want to put your pet on passive or dismiss it entirely. I couldn't get it to work with a pet, as it would just reset mid encounter. Also, if you are having trouble with him just standing there when you first walk in, try running back out until you are back in the outside zone, then run back in and he should be doing the ritual then.

looks it's still bugged, but it's a different bug now, if I enter the cave (and not just me, saw 4 ppl with the same problem) the encounter won't start, the npc's are just standing still and nothing happens, idk how to trigger the event

This quest is still bugged. However instead of camping, I hearthed to Stormwind, then took the portal to Jade, then flew all the way back to the npc, and as i walked in the door he started the encounter and it worked.

Description

The Mogu have been scattered and sparse in number for many years. Their purpose in the valley makes sense now.

With this many restless spirits they can build themselves an army using the guardians buried in each tomb. Combined with the Zandalari forces this would be devastating!

The Tomb of Secrets houses elite warriors called the Emperor's Shield. They must not be resurrected! You'll find the tomb on the highest rise to the southwest.
