By name and quest description, this is a cool reference to the Assassin's Creed game in which the player is usually tasked to infiltrate a zone and assassinate someone (preferably without getting caught).
Would be cool if you got a set of Altair's lookalike armor as reward.

The stealth part is pretty simple and easy, just take your time and don't rush it. Some tips on sneaking around: Once you break stealth or are noticed, you'll eventually get ported back to the mage. Don't fly, you'll get ported back to the mage. You can be in melee range of someone as long as you are behind them, so Sap and Distract should be freely used. It is easier as sub, can Shadowstep to a mob and hold back peddle and won't be detected. For patrols, you can just Shadowstep to the pat and he'll just walk away from ya. Any NPC who's sleeping is safe to walk over. When a mob spots you, you'll loose your Infiltrating Gilneas City debuff.

This part has gotten very hard since it went out on live. They added alot more extra mobs, and you get seen outside of the red zone with some of them. It is possible to cheat by running out until Eye of Zazzo is gone, then get on a flying mount starting around here, fly up to be the same height of the highest towers and fly straight at Lord Hiram Creed. When you gain the Eye of Zazzo debuff, hit stealth and let your momentum take you just to the entrance of the courtyard he is in. Best to have Charred Glyph. Dunno when or if this will be fixed, so your mileage may vary.

It is possible to skip the first inner city by jumping into the water and Shadowstep to the pat who walks up and down the ramp. Can also distract the very last Blackhowl Sniper, wait for the pat to be 20+ yards away and then jump from the water and spam sap on him. All the mobs have about 20 yards aggro radius. You will get unstealthed if you get within 10 yards of the Blackhowl Snipers. But will be fine as soon as you stealth back up. You won't be popped out of stealth from the debris on fire, but the dark wooden clutter like the stocks in the boss arena has gotten in my way in more than one occasion during the fight.

This map shows the approximate path I took. The quad dots show start, single dots are the approximate locations of the mobs I sapped, and the double dots are shadowsteps.

Lord Hiram Creed has 3 abilities, 1.8 mill hp and is lvl 85 with a 2 minute enrage timer which means you have to do at least 15k dps while kiting, keeping up and kicking his casts. If you stop ANY of his casts with anything except a Kick (Kidney Shot/Gouge/Blind), he'll start casting the ability again seconds after he's recovered. Creed will reset if Vanish is used. Your stuns should be saved for times where you are getting low and need to heal up, which is rare.

- Consuming Darkness is a 1 second cast that spawns an AOE underneath the player that does about 9k per tick. This move is uninterruptible and you need to run out of it and kite the boss out of the aoe. This is a good time to let heal you up.

- Blackhowl's Will is a 1.5 second cast that hits you for 18-20k shadow damage and drains all your energy down to 0. You need to kick this, I don't believe that Deadly Throw is much help because of the travel time of the throw. If you have trouble kicking the cast, you can use on to slow the cast to 3 seconds. If you do this, I would suggest to pickup the talent Elusiveness and glyph for instead of Leeching Poison since you can only have 1 utility poison/buff active at a time.

- After he transforms, he gains the ability Shadow Breath which has a 1 second cast warm up followed with a 3 second channeled duration that deals shadow damage in front of him. This move is uninterruptible so just don't stand in front of him, very easy to get out of this and able to keep dps on him from behind/on the side while he's channeling. Only problem is if you've boxed yourself in a corner with Consuming Darkness.

He goes Berserk at exactly 2 minutes into the fight where he grows big and red, use Blind paired with Charred Glyph on him to heal up a with bandages and pot up if needed. He deals double melee and spell damage (40k Blackhowl's Will hits) and seems to casting more frequently during berserk. doesn't work on him here. Use stuns, gouge etc... to stop him for a tick and grab more energy if you need to. Save Evasion and Cloak of Shadows+Charred Glyph for this phase if you need to.

His opener is usually Consuming Darkness followed by a Blackhowl's Will, so don't stand too far from him when getting out of the 1st void zone.

Once Creed is down, you will automatically be teleported back to your mage friend. If for some reason you cannot finish this by yourself, you can group up with other rogues to get him down. I'm pretty sure that the other rogues need to be on the quest to help you else, everything will be phased. If you are in the proximity of someone who downs him (ie: you just got within range of the boss and never hit him with any abilities), you'll also get credit for the quest.

I first downed him in about 1 min 50 seconds as a 385 ilvl combat rogue, and was able to coach others with less gear and non-optimal enchants/gems with combat daggers to get this boss down.

Updated for Rogues who want to attempt this at level 85 in MOP, can someone check if is effective against this boss?

this quest was super annoying when you are the only person doing it in the zone. SO MANY MOBS! Took about 25 minutes of figuring out patterns, but once you see it you are probably going to be like ughhhhhhh did I really miss that all along?

With proper utilization of a soulstone or parachute you can skip directly to Creed in about 5 seconds from the SE bridge.
(Don't wanna make it too easy, so I'll leave it at that.)

While doing this, every time I Vanished he went back to his spot and waited for another attack so...

Fellow Rogues, if ever you feel you're losing the fight, Vanish and the fight should end, giving you time to rethink your strategy without a dragon-person beating on you.

Since it has gone live it has become incredibly difficult boarding on broken...However if your an engineer u can easily go to the military district OUTSIDE of gilneas city and the eye debuff will drop...in which case u can then mount up fly forward and then use your parachute while stealthed and float straight in front of creed. its quite simple and easy and completely forgoes the insane difficulty that they made it since release and until they fix it.

This is easily the worst quest/mini-game designed in WoW. Rogues have been playing with pretty much the same stealth system for 7+ years, why blizzard decided to completely change that system into some rip-off mini-game for a couple of quests is simply mind boggling.

Anyway, until they change the stealth detection in this completely unnecessary stealth mini-game (the boss fight is challenge enough) the best way to complete this is to fly around to the south of Gilneas while outside of the retardo-eye-buff range. Check the map that you are directly south from the courtyard that Creed is in, then fly straight in skimming over the rooftops until you are just inside the wall of the courtyard then dismount and fall in. Do not slow fall, and DO NOT STEALTH at this time or you will be ported back to the midget. You will be far enough from any enemies, and the boss so you will not aggro them. You may need to repeat this flying in process 10+ times for it to finally work. It does work as of 11/30/2011.

Take plenty of food, health potions, etc ... you will need them for the many attempts you will likely need to defeat the boss. Or, bring a rogue friend to help you with the kill.

For snipers, I was able to distract, and then jump into sapping range and sap them. But it does put me out of stealth. Also, I shadowstep+backpeddle works REALLY well on them.

Actually I don't believe the stealth mechanics have been changed much here. It seems as if what they did was to increase these mobs' stealth detection range (as the buff icon on the mobs indicates) like the guards at Ravenholdt in the previous quest.

All non-truesight mobs have a range at which they will detect you even in stealth, proportional to their normal aggro radius (with a few exceptions) - generally when you're 85 the radius is quite small even on a level 85 mob. All they did was increase that radius and give you an actual visual indication of your it (WTB an option to enable this aura to track aggro radius on all toons in or out of stealth btw).

The other rule you need to bear in mind is that their radius is greatly reduced if you are behind them (the definition of "behind" I'm a little unsure of, seems more than a 90 degree cone but less than a full 180, I mostly know it by feel from experience rather than the actual size). This is also a normal rule for stealth mechanics, though it's been a long time since most people have had to think about it (I only remember it myself from doing some dodgy sneaking about back when I was level locked to 60 :P).

The one thing that IS different is that certain mobs seem to be programmed to pull you out of stealth at much longer range, as if they're truesighted. They are pretty clearly there to limit the number of viable paths to Creed. It would be nice if they had truesight icons or some other obvious indication that you shouldn't try to sneak past them.

I tried to access the quarter housing Creed from a number of different angles but many of them turned out to be unviable. In the end I took a path roughly similar to the first image posted above. I crossed the bridge, went through the first courtyard to the canal then took the first turn (not the corridor next to the canal) into the centre of that quarter then more or less direct to Creed.

It's often counterintuitive because the areas that are swarming with mobs are generally better than the emptier areas with only a few patrols, those patrols tend to be spotters (the "truesight-like" mobs) to stop you going that way. For example, in the original map Stuffeh mentions taking the outer wall left of the first bridge, that is blocked by an unpassable worgen mob. Similarly the path mentioned by Karla with 3 mobs contains at least one spotter. I tried both several times using distract, sap etc, varying my distance and so forth. They will definitely break your stealth if you try to pass them.

Another tip: because you can get close to a mob from behind without being spotted you can use Shadowstep to "hop" past a pack that's blocking your way onto a passing single mob beyond them. Follow it up quickly with a sap in case the patrolling mob turns around and spots you. God I love you Shadowstep.

The biggest thing to remember is to use distract wisely, sap will get you past single mobs (I also used it preferentially on dogs, not sure but they seemed to be a little harder to bypass than humanoids) but distract is often your only way to get a large group to turn the right way so that you can go behind them through narrow gaps. You will often be sitting in temporarily safe areas biting your nails while distract's cd ticks down. Really feels like "sneaking" I must say :)

The obscure nature of the "spotters" aside I thought this was a hell of a lot of fun, I just wish I wasn't so keen on progressing my legendary that I completed it ASAP. Listening to people talking about parachute trickery and thinking about alternate routes... man the fun I could have. Definitely one of those quests that makes me wish WoW had some kind of quest replay ability. Well, I guess I'll get another rogue to 85 some time in the future and get up to this stage of the chain and never progress it.

I just completed this quest without any flying/falling/parachuting methods. After trying many different ways, it seems that there is only one path that is intended. In involves bypassing only one wolf, who pats.

I went over the bridge through the arch and took an immediate left. I hugged the right side and snuck/jumped past the overturned cart. I distracted the close group, made sure the dog pat was not on this side, and went behind the sole mob with his back turned. Right after, there were two female mob pats. I sapped the one immediately in my way. After that, there are two mobs behind a tree. If I had time, I waited and distracted them. Otherwise, I sapped the closest to the right wall and hoped the other missed me. I keep hugging the right wall, sapped a solo pat around the corner, circled around a few pairs of mobs which took me to a long ramp down to the water way. I did NOT take the ramp, but rather stayed hugging the right side, sapped a solo mob, avoided a paired pat, and then jumped down into the stream. I crossed over the water and took the "middle" of three possible entrances by sapping a sniper. After a short ramp, I sapped a pat and took an immediate right. There are two groups of 4 mobs each with a tree in the middle. You can move between the 4 groups and be at the tree where two sleeping mobs (dogs?) are. Be careful, there is a worgen pat around here, and you need to get behind him and go up the ramp. To do this, I waited for him to go up the ramp, ran to the tree previously mentioned, distracted the mobs to the left and went up a different ramp to the left. A sniper pats here, I sapped her and waited. Once the worgen pat went the other way, I ran up the ramp, sapped a mob, hugged the right wall, and then you are in the courtyard with Creed!

My path was fairly similar to yours, except I tended to stay on the left side of the road versus veering over.

You did mention a couple key things that I would like to reiterate:

Don't be afraid to just sap someone, sit there and watch how everyone is moving. A sapped person will not break your stealth!
In some spots, you will need to sap an inner mob just to have enough room to literally squeeze in between two other mobs.
It is possible to get seen and still get away. I have done it, but it is extremely hard and doesn't always work. The enemies seem to leave you alone after being spotted if you run far enough away and you are still in stealth. If someone just grazed your circle, a quick Vanish combined with running in the other direction may do the trick. Just hope there isn't another guy in the other direction!

A couple things about Creed.

He's pretty much vulnerable to any form of crowd control in the book. Do not be afraid to use any trick that you can think of (pots, or whatever)... including...
Use more than one rogue! Unlike the old hunter quests, you aren't penalized if someone else is in the area and attacks Creed. The area isn't instanced, so this is more than possible.

Ez mode:

1.) Take off all armor.
2.) Run in and die.
3.) Ghost walk as close to courtyard as you can.
4.) Raise
5.) Rinse repeat until you reach your destination.

Ez mode 2:

1.) Walk over to southern Bridge, fly to the top of the map and fly in as close as you can to the courtyard.
2.) Dismount and splat near the boss. (Or Parachute + Vanish to get same effect)
3.) Death walk back inside and rez far enough away from the boss where he doesn't agro.

p.s Mind numbing poison works WONDERS on Creed makes the fight much much easier.

On Creed himself, I put on PVE gear in my PVP subtlety spec. Nothing special, I got a 5pt recup rolling, hemo to a 5pt snd, hemo to 5pt kidney (pool energy just before the KS) then got behind him to shadow dance. Far from an ideal rotation but it seemed to work fine anyway. Keep moving out of the pools and gouge on cd if you're worried about your HP, don't forget evasion and CR as well though I didn't really need them. I'm sure there's heaps of ways to kill him, but really he didn't seem particularly hard, I was above 70% the whole fight (except near the end when I got lazy and fell to 50%ish).

Oh and kick him obviously. Though I missed a few and nothing all that bad seemed to happen.

I tried the flying in from the south.. if u aim for the high tower there is a dead spot. i landed. ditracted group on right sapped on on target dummy and walked right in.. after a few attempts this guy is gonna be VERY VERY hard to solo

As well as I can, I'll try to describe what ultimately worked for me. Took me about an hour of observing how the various patrols move around to get everything right.

Start next to the questgiver, and head across the bridge. I sapped the first mob that stands near the middle of the road. I then headed through the tunnel and into the main courtyard. There is a safe-ish zone on the northeast corner. One of the mobs patrols the edge of the eastern part of the courtyard, hugging the building. Sap her as close to the north end of her pat as possible, then move diagonally towards the center of the courtyard. As you approach the central path which cuts across east/west, sap any mob that patrols, then wait a bit until the mobs on the west end of the path clear the flagpole in the center. A stationary mob stands next to the flagpole, and I sapped him. To the south, you'll see two rows of target dummies. I shadowstepped to the second dummy in the western (right as you face south) line. From there, I turned south and sapped the mob attacking the last target dummy in the eastern (left as you face south) line. You'll see two overturned wagons on the southeast corner of the courtyard, hop to get over the middle of these. A mob pats north/south along the street that heads east from this end of the courtyard. Once he is sapped, I headed east and hugged the southern line of buildings until I reached the corner where I could turn south.

As you approach this corner, slew your camera so you can see toward the south. A mob patrols the ledge. He was a little buggy in that he would appear to walk very slowly, then quickly pop to the middle/end of the ramp. I tried to sap him near the south end of his pat, then jumped down into the water. Beware of a group of two mobs who pat east/west along the ledge north of the river who do come to the corner of the building. If you don't swing your camera to see around the building, they can nab you.

Head down the river to the gate at the west end. There are two possible paths, and I took the one headed south into a small yard packed with mobs. Two mobs stand still at either side of the entrance, and another pats up even with them in the center of the street, then back into the yard. I waited until she patroled back to the center then sapped the mob on the right side of the street. Once I was safely past her, I followed the patrolling mob to the right (west) of the yard until I was in range for my next shadowstep. I then sapped this mob and waited until my shadowstep target patrolled to the correct spot.

As you approach the southwest corner of the yard, you'll see a mob patrolling north/south along the bottom of a set of stairs. When she is near the center of the stairs, shadowstep/sap her. I then headed up the stairs, going west, and favoring the south side of the street. From here, I had to improvise a little because the mobs here were a little squirrely, and I got a little lucky on my third attempt at this part of the creep. In the end, I was successful by sapping the mob who stood at the end of a line of crates to the southwest of the courtyard where the boss is waiting.

Once you've made it to the courtyard with the boss, you're pretty much home free. If the boss kills you, can corpse run back and rezz. I found the descriptions of the fight mechanics posted elsewhere on this thread to be perfectly fine. So you know, I did the fight as Assassination, didn't fool with Recup, popped a Rogue's Draught when I hit about 50%, CR and Evasion. I found that the fight went smoother when I did kick the casts, but I didnt CC outside of that. Ended the fight with about 30% of my health. My filler point for the spec is on deadly brew, I don't know that this helped. I don't recall more than four void zones up at a time, so the courtyard is plenty large for the fight.

As far as tips, the red circle is somewhat deceptive. Mobs can see you if they approach within about 2 yards of the edge. I was never able to Vanish/reset them without getting ported out to start over. I highly recommend grabbing a sub spec for no other reason than shadowstep. After trying for about 45 minutes without it, I swapped to my PvP spec and had far fewer issues trying to weave between packs. As someone else mentioned, you can dance on top of a mob you have sapped, so wait until they've moved away from anyone else, Sstep to them and sap right away. I found that I had plenty of time to figure out where to head next. Other than that, I'd recommend repairing before you head out so you've got as many shots at the boss corpse running back. I suspect that if you leave to repair, you have to redo the creep.

Good luck. Once you've gotten a feel for the actual detection range, this is pretty enjoyable. The boss is less about a straight burn (although the 2 minute enrage is nothing to fool with) and more about planning your kite so you don't get boxed in and hitting all your kicks.

If you get very near the end, and one of the other 20 rogues trying to stealth in gets seen, just sprint into the area where Creed is. If you make it in fast enough, even if seen, you still may get the message from Zazzo that says, "You made it! Creed's dark magic is disrupting my vision - you're on your own from here. Good luck!"

I was able to vanish to drop combat at this point and wasn't ported out. Wouldn't rely on it, but it's a last-second option.

Curious enough, I was in a party with another Hordie rogue just before Creed, but then an Ally came by and tagged it.
We were waiting until he finished so we could wait for the respawn. But, to our surprise, the kill counted to me and my friend. We didn't laid a finger on Creed.
Maybe you just have to BE there for the kill?

If you make it into the courtyard you will lose the eye debuff, so if you get seen by the mobs near Creed, sprint towards him. You'll get ported out but will be able to fly back to the courtyard, drop in stealthed and start the fight normally.

There was another rogue fighting when I got into the courtyard so it may not apply in cases where the boss isn't aggroed when you get to the courtyard.

Ez mode 2.0

1.) Walk, fly, swim whatever towards the southern bridge. Make sure you're far enough away for the eye buff to disappear.

2.) Fly up as high as you can; as in to the top of the map and fly towards courtyard. Use the first group of houses as a marker and drop.

3.) If you landed within proximity of the courtyard, if not inside of it you can death walk back to your corpse and be able to raise within it thus avoiding the bs sapping puzzle.

I have successfully done this using this method as well as another method that people decided to rate down...Good luck!

Make sure to re-sap the target you planned to sap even if it was sapped by some other rogue. Don't rely on someone else's sap. Otherwise you might end up standing next to an unsapped mob and get knocked out of stealth when that other rogue saps another target. As obvious as it is, I saw many rogues having to start over because of this, including myself.

I also took a similar route - check out this map. It definitely took me some time to get used to the patterns and aggro radius of mobs. Don't give up and don't be discouraged by terrible rogues messing you up. They will give up eventually and get out of your way.

Some general tips:

Don't rely on Distract too much; it only buys you ten seconds, and patting mobs will quickly catch up to you
Be careful where you Sap patting mobs, as it is sometimes much easier to have a mob pat to/from you a bit so you have the necessary distance from a currently sapped mob
On the south part of Merchant Square, there is a mob right around (69.0, 45.6) that can be hard to see as you hug that wall. Right at the edge of the stairs going into the building, swing your camera angle so you can sap it without being seen.
I found it much easier to go directly into the square once you pass the canal from Merchant Square (purple buildings on the map) into the Military District (red buildings). Others have gone a little down the canal and through that way, but I found it frustrating. You can get to the center of that first square right around (65.8, 61.7) and hang out for a bit because all the dogs are sleeping. Sleeping mobs don't wake up if you are in stealth.
Be patient! It's very easy to get farther than you've gotten and then try to rush it through an area. Be methodical and generally roguish and you'll be fine.

Did this quest yesterday and i loved it!
Seems to be buggy here and there. For example when you jump out of the water you get knocked out of stealth for no reason, but further than that it's awesome. Finally some real sneaking =)

Helped my bf do this quest today. I had him fly as high above the city where the boss is located and fall to his death. Run to your corpse and res. Kill boss... ezpz

Edit: Let me state that we ran around the city to the southern end. We started at the south bridge. Don't go near the city until that point. He's an engineer and used slow fall to fall downward towards the courtyard at an angle. If you're not an engineer buy slow fall pots or keep practicing free falling at an angle to your death around the courtyard.

YOU MUST BE STEALTHED DURING THE FALL!

You're missing out if you cheese it. This is the probably most fun Ive had on a quest in a long time though it is tricky and may take some time. Earn your legendaries. They should put a big asterix on them if you fly in :D

Buffs that help during Creed fight - kings drum, fort scroll, food, flask, potions

As Combat - Disarm, Kidney Punch as often as possible. Always have Recup up. Use defensive cds on cd. Get out of the bad and interrupt. Gouge/Bandage macro can help too. I imagine Sub might even be easier for this fight.

Also, (thankfully) you don't have to do the stealth part again if you die to the boss.

I finally made it on my i362 combat rogue. You cant just run around like a noob you need to constantly DPS but avoid damage as much as possible. Try to use kidney shot as much as possible and nuke him when he uses breath.

Haaaaaai, my fellow rogues!
Just want to contribute with my tips on how I ended up doing this, as well as a video of the stealthy parts of this quest. After twiddling around for a while, I decided to go sub for the stealthy part, and it really trivialised this part largely.
For the fight with Creed, I wanted to do it in Assassination spec, as (to me) that is the true rogue spec (sorry all you awesome Combat/Subs out there, no offense meant).

Anyways - the video is available here, so you can check that out. No parachuting, dying or flying or such - just plain rogueish behaviour :) It has instructions in it, and in addition - all I want to say about that is that: Get that distract out guys, if you don't use it a lot, this is the time to make up for what you lost out on.
Also, the stealthy circle that you get while phased is quite large, so spend some time to get used to how close to patrolling people you can actually be without being caught in action. Also - do not vanish as it'll port you back to Zazzo, as it seems to be a trigger so he thinks you're in trouble (this goes for the actual fight with Creed as well - as he will reset immediately if you vanish midfight). You will not get ported to Zazzo while fighting Creed, though.

For the fight with Creed, here's how I did it:
I opened as usual, pre-potting and with Garrote from behind. Disarmed. Got SnD and Rupture ticking on him. Then, when Disarm was over, I blew Evasion and Combat Readiness. From there on I'd continue a regular rotation while Kicking his Blackhowl's Will and moving out of the void left by Consuming Darkness. His Shadow Breath is really easy to avoid, just move behind him as he preps for it.

I got him down to about 35% going like this, made sure I had 5 combo points on him and Blinded him. I popped Recuperate, bandaged and just stood there while Recup and the timer on Blind got me back to full hp. Opened with Gouge and disarm. Less than two rotations later, he was dead.

When grouping with another rogue, should one of you die mid fight and you decide to vanish and mass res to start over, as we did, the rogue that died will now have the red eye debuff. Word of caution: Do not pull Creed while you still have the red eye debuff or you will be ported out mid fight, as what happen to my party member. To keep this from happening, get rid of the red eye debuff by going into stealth, walk just past the gate entrance to Creed and walk right back in. You should see the red eye debuff drop off and you can now safely pull Creed again.

I did the quest "almost" legitly and very happy to do so (used the raid lockout of guildies!).

For the stealth part, I keybounded sap to 1 with a mouseover macro. Much easier to sap mobs as you walk. It took some time but I eventually found the way to creed.

First try took him down to 600K (ilvl 359). Then some guildie said another rogue on same quest can help. I asked in local if there's any rogue trying him and there was one. I made a group with him and thought to try Creed again while the guy was finding his way in.

I did it as Assassinate for more poison and Rupture damage with points in Imp Recup. Ran to him, put up 5pt rupture, 3pt recup and ran away to dodge Consuming Darkness and Shadow Breath. Ran back to him in time to interrupt his Blackhowl's Will, refresh the poison and put up rupture again. Did these three over and over until he died.

The other rogue completed the quest as soon as he stepped into the courtyard without touching him!

Pretty good daggers for 10k gold and some fun on the way!

For the boss i speced sub with all the recupe talents and was able to solo it, my rogue is ilvl 358. I was using 346 MH and 353 OH daggers. So it is doable even if u arent that geared. I used IP on MH and DP on OH. I dont have first aid so instead i used a potion when i was getting low. It took me about 4.6 mins to kill him, not sure wat the timer on his enrage is but he didnt enrage on that attempt. I've had failed attempts before where i thought i saw the enrage much earlier. Im thinking blind might reset it but thats just my guess, maybe i just got lucky and the boss was getting tickled too much by my crappy dps to even get mad :P

Also if u decide u need pots or anything and your already at the boss and dont wanna pass through all the mobs again u can have a friend get u w/e u need and queue for a random dungeon and trade there.

This is very simple to do, just a few points for fellow rogues

Shadow Breath can be out ranged very easily, when you see him cast just move away or go behind him.
Poison - I suggest using Mind Numbing so you have more time to interrupt/run away. Also I suggest not using any dots (i.e. Rupture, Deadly Poison) so when you blind him you have a full minute to bandage up.
For combat rogues, blade twisting is a godsend on this boss, whenever I get to low health I just run away and since Creed is dazed he can't keep up, giving you ample time to get some HP back.

The courtyard area with sleeping dogs and three-man groups can be skipped by using the ledge on right.

I found mind-numbing poison very helpful, it forces Creed to spend more time casting = less time meleeing. I also failed at kicking half of the blackhowl's wills without it.

The stealth part is super easy. Search "Rogue Legendary Quest "Assassinate Creed" - Sneaking into Gilneas" in youtube for the best path. After about 30-40 minutes of getting the pat paths down, its a piece of cake, I could do it in my sleep.

The biggest problem I had was acually killing the boss. I STRONGLY recommend not trying this as Assassination. I was the wrong spec and the hardest part I found was the slow that kept getting applied by Deadly Brew. Do not slow this boss, it will hurt you in the long run. I imagine Combat would be much simpler since you don't have to be behind the boss at all. I had no choice as my only decent weapons were daggers. Ended up killing him with the help of an off faction rogue on the same quest, he died, but I finished the quest anyway, lol. He does around 9K white damage per swing and was critting me for around 12-14k. Make sure you use all your abilities and bring flasks / food.

Also, before you even attempt, make sure your bags are full of everything you will need. I had to hearth out to restock poisions / food / potions / bandages because I didn't bring enough, forcing me to do the stealth part again.

Either way, if you are by yourself, make sure you are the proper spec, seems combat or sub are the best ways to go. Assassination is a pain in the arse!

You can group with another rogue and do this.

Make sure to have him slowed with crippling poison. have one rogue kite it while the other rogue beats it to death. Eventually, the boss will switch aggro, simply just switch roles.

EDIT: If you are soloing - when you get low HP, just kite him with crippling poison while recuperate heals you back up. A few bandages helps too.

I keep getting taken out of stealth for absolutely no reason at all. Seems like there's just a lot of bugs that make this quest completion retardedly difficult -- not because the objective is actually that difficult, but because the game is broken. Great.

I was stealthing in and almost to the courtyard when I got the quest completion message. Someone had just killed Creed and I was close enough to get credit too. Of course, I went to turn in the quest and get the daggers. But then, since I felt cheated by not getting the kill, I went back to kill Creed but all the NPCs and Creed were gone. Sigh.

It would be nice if the quest explained a couple of things, namely that some mobs don't play by the rules and have normal aggro ranges and will see you outside the circle, and that sometimes you'll be inexplicably booted out of stealth for no reason regardless of whether or not you're even near any enemies.

I jumped into water and headed towards docks.

Stealth and sap non-pat npc. Watch stair pat to go up. When dock pat hits his furthest point away from you Distract and jump up on dock. This will break stealth. Re-stealth and sap pat coming down.

At top you have 2 stationary groups, a single pat and a 3 man pat. You also have a 2 man pat that goes up and down stairs. Watch for this 2 man pat to start to come up, Distract so you hit the 3 man and 1 man pat. Jump on steps and move down. Jump right, into water.

There will be 2 stationary guards in front of you and a Dog pat. Wait for dog pat to go, Sap 1 guard and move down towards court yard. Watch you red circle and when you get out of range from sapped guard, sap one at bottom when he hits his furthest left point.

There is 2 groups of 3. You need to aim for the tree. sap one closest to tree, and distract other group. Squeeze between them while watching 2 separate pats that go up/down stairs.

Go up stairs and right into part with one mob; Creed http://ptr.wowhead.com/npc=57802. He has 1.8mil health. You need to kite him around, using stun abilities and kick for all casts. Make sure Recuperate is always up. If another rogue is doing this quest you can join group and down him together.

Notes: Distract will make it so you can squeeze behind a mob.
Sap can only be active on 1 enemy at a time, so make sure you circle is not on an NPC when hiting a new one.
If you hit vanish and run the second you are discovered you may prevent being teleported back to start.

Completion of this quest will give you Jaws of Retribution http://www.wowhead.com/itemset=1089; Fear Fear and Vengeance http://www.wowhead.com/item=77946. This will trigger Cluster Clutch http://www.wowhead.com/quest=30107.

This will probably be fixed in the near future, but if you go to the bridge south of where you get the quest (ground mound up an walk round) spec sub there are 3 groups of mobs aligned in 3 rows, if you target the back right most mob of the three lines and move forward (sapping the patrol) it's quite easy to shadow-step and back-peddle away from him, turn around sap a mob, walk forward, sap one more and re-spec combat or assassination, as for the fight;

I grabbed my well fed and unstealthed, pre-potted, stealthed and opened with cheap shot (as mutilate) kept my normal rotation up with the priority SnD-->recoup-->rupture, using kidney shot to interrupt his energy drain, my overlooking the glyph of blind, I saved my cloak for the "reset", he is very easy to kite but still casts spells, at 1/3 of his hp (I was on about 1/3 but didn't want to take any chances) I built up 5 combo points, started kiting him until he cast, cloaked the cast, then blinded him after deadly poison wore off, recouped up and bandaged, talked in /g for a few seconds while recoup healed the rest, ended up finishing the kill with 65k hp left (and didn't re-pot mid-fight);

Upon reflection he could have been made easier if I would have saved arcane torrent (as a Belf) for an interrupt instead of kicking, or if i flasked and re-potted midfight.

As a side note, I was 1/2 deadly brew so the kiting him was easy.

Ilvl 380, others lower may have a slightly harder time, for those I would suggest either grouping with another rogue, or using flasks, pots, food and even drums of the wild/rune scroll of fortitude (If i would have failed killing him I would have gone for all of the above and a blessing of might from a friend)

Found an easy way to get directly to Creed. For engineers though, mount up and ride towards the bridge leading to creed, make sure the de buff disappears. , and fly straight into the air, position your mount towards creed. Demount and pop your slow fall cloak, re-stealth while mid air and you can land directly next to creed without getting zoned out.

Bring a rogue friend to pull mobs away from you.
Engaged mobs don't spot you (ie, if your friend gets spotted by say, 20 mobs, they won't see you as you waltz by). Generally having a friend or two helps a lot when doing this.
BTW hints to boss fight: The Boss is CCable, Stunnable and slowable.
Use blind and recuperate to get back to full hp when low.
Treat the fight as a pvp fight.

Just did this, and as a lousy rogue with very alt-quality gear, I can say it's no point in trying to beat the "Enrage timer" when you fight Creed.

My (Probably bad) recommendation would be to apply Crippling and Mind-Numbing to slow him and slow his casts, engaging him while prioritizing keeping Recuperate up above all else (I did this as combat, so it was not the normal rotation for me), and as combat I also enjoyed RvS+Kidney+Killingspree when I had the opportunity.

He doesn't really hurt that much more when Enraged, but don't take chances. Just kite him until you're healed up, only running in to interrupt his Blackhowl's Will ability (i.e. kite him at as short a distance as possible, just outside of melee range). Use Evasion / Cloak if you want to stay in and use some CD's (Adrenaline Rush or what have you), or save Cloak for if you're too far away to kick his Blackhowl's Will.

Oh, and the shadow breath hurts like a #%¤&#¤ !"#%&, so don't do what I did and just go "Oh I'll just stand here for a second" and die...

TL;DR - totally doable on a crappy alt rogue, just take your time and play it safe.

my path went as follows (sub spec)

1. jump of ledge at start swim to area with big steps.

2. shadowstep/ sap the guy on the steps

3. walk to the top of the steps wait for the pats to return, jump down (careful there are 2 guys patrolling the bridge way, that walk up the stairs)

3. jump into the i guess the aqueduct looking thing., you will see 2 guards, sap either one, walk down steps, sap the dude walking back in forth at the bottom of the steps, once past there u will see 2 guards on the left wall (main focus) and 1 further down patting by the last set of steps before Creed himself. Sap the guard closet to you, if u inch up a bit, u will reach the guy in the back with 1 shadowstep/sap combo, though u will have to wait till he past back to the left side of the last set of steps

4, walk up the small set of stairs, creed is now just around the corner, sap the guard at the top of the steps closet to the right wall, after him, you will see to guards now face to face with each other by creed, i sapped the one closets to me, then distracted the other and was home.

if i had fraps i would make a video, but sadly i don't.

this is how i did it, i found the route pretty fast and least frustrating.

Creed is most easily done in a sub spec. Blind resets the enrage timer so all you have to do is get a 5pt recuperate, blind at ~1 min 50, heal up with recup, dps him for another ~1 min, preparation, blind, heal up again. etc. Keep mind numbing on OH. I did not find crippling necessary at all.

After a couple of attempts, i found http://www.wowhead.com/maps?data=4755:387885400875408827413792419733419706443702441714449664489658502664510702475716514759560763572765595751598683 to be the easiest path possible, since it allows you to skip nearly half the enemies and only encountering 3 pats (2 of which can be "ignored")

Also, i do not know about the rest, but the fight does not require 15k dps and doesn't need to be done under 2 minutes, as combat i just used dismantle ==> evasion ==> combat readiness ==> stun + shadow bomb (gives time to run out and bandage and he's most likely to start with a cast that will fail) ==> dismantle.
After that get up to 5 CP and blind.
Bandage and wait for the entire minute + open up with gauge, dismantle, combat readiness , and evasion (it should be popping about that time., and possibly dismantle again.

Do not forget to kick, as this was the biggest source of headaches.

Also, due to me being combat, i opened up with garrote, wait until the first aoe, then run him out of it, wait for the kick, then KS and AR + Trinket + Potion of tol'vir. I repeated this after the blind.
Went down with me being at 70% hp.

I found a great way in using legitimate mechanics.

At the gate closest to the courtyard, you can distract the ranks of guards in front. This will allow you to stealth up to the front ranks then shadowstep to one of the guards in the back ranks. from here you can shadowstep to the guard at the flag in the outer courtyard. I then did a vanish-sprint into the courtyard.

Just be careful of the timing for the packleader pats.

The whole cloak and dagger is really cool and not an easy task to accomplish (stealthing through to get to Lord Hiram Creed). There is a really super easy way to get in. Go to the bridge across from Lord Hiram (outside gilneas) and make sure you don't have the "eye'' buff. Mount up and fly high...now fly towards the boss (staying high in the air) and the dismount over the boss. Stealth while on your way down and die on impact. Then run back to your body and res a safe distance from Lord Hiram in his courtyard and voila you are past the mobs.

If you are patient you can get credit for the boss kill even if the mob is greyed out. Just hop in and do some damage and you will get credit. I did this on my Troll rogue, helping an alliance rogue.

I'm not the best rogue in the world, by far, and my gear is feeling the alt-itis, but I can tell you what worked for me.

Getting to Creed - Subtlety spec (any spec). Two or three shadowsteps made all the difference in getting to the main courtyard. This was particularly helpful (as in the video posted before by Euphemia) for the area just before getting to creed.

Defeating Creed - Combat spec (emphasis on defensive talents.) I joined AV for full raid buffs, used an agility flask and food, and really just went crazy on him. Interrupting as many of the Blackhowl's Will as you can while keeping recuperate up 100% almost ensures victory for this fight. Remember, if you mess up too much, you can vanish to reset the fight and try again.

just solo'd (combat rogue 376ilvl) this whole quest used the path provided by the map with sap and distract as for the boss i used instant poison on mh and dealy poison on oh i opened with cheap shot then a 5cp kidney shot then 5cp recuperate then just rinse and repeat using kick to interrupt his cast only pulled 12.2k dps using sinister strike as my point builder and he didnt enrage

Make sure not to hearth if you are at creed as you will have to do the stealthing in again. I made this mistake because I forgot to go to town and grab my new gear from the VP vendor and when i went to fly back to creed i got the eye debuff and got ported back to the mage. :(

You will need about 380+ item level to down him solo.

My guild is not a raiding guild so I hired another guild to summon me in to pick pocket Hagara and begin the quest line. While a rogue with any level of gear can stealth to Creed, you're pretty much expected to be raid geared to down him solo.

A tip that I have for anyone trying this quest. I had a full stack of these: Sneaking Potion sitting in my bank and decided to bring them along. They actually helped a LOT. I really recommend trying to get your hands on some of these if you plan on doing this quest. They only last 1 minute but do not break stealth when you use them so I just kept using them when I was about to run out. Hope this helped!

Just did this at item level 347 on my rogue (solo) it was an extremely hard and annoying (after 2 hours had to take a break).
The stealth part seems to be covered fairly well here already. For combat I used a sublety spec that was basically a friends PvP spec since my assassination spec wasn't up for it. (assassination spec fails for assassinating who knew?). Make sure to abuse blind when you need to, recuperate build up a few combo points (before blind) so when it is blinded you have a minute to recover and reuse it in that time, this also gives you a lot of time to get cooldowns back. You should space your cooldowns out a bit. By delaying as much as possible when blind is up, you can have basically almost a fresh run without stealth. I took at least 3 or 4 blind uses to beat this guy and used no buff items except poisons.
Good luck to all those undergearing people trying to get dagger for the boost, just try to direct anger at soloing away from all things you don't want to break (because it can be annoying when you fail)

Also it seems that he won't enrage if you use blind, maybe resets timer on it or something but I took around 8 or so minutes and didn't have an enrage, he does change form in a bit into the fight (around 75%?) that is not him enraging so don't panic it is normal.

What you can do is, run out till the "Eye" debuff disappears, then mount up on your flying mount. Fly in over the bridge at South East part of Gilneas, fly up high in the air VERY HIGH. Fly in as far as u can ( not past the keep where the boss is ) Then hit Stealth RIGHT when the "Eye" debuff is back. Fall to your death, run in and ress yourself, you should be able to ress right infront of the boss without any guards near you if u flew far enough in! This worked awesome for me, be aware the boss is hard! but he can be interrupted with Kick, and stunned with Kidney shot, Gouge, Cheap shot, and Disarmed with Dismantle. Hope this helped a few people, it sure helped me. And I just discovered it by accident!

After literally 37 attempts, I got him down. I did hours of vid watching and reading all the online guides. The best thing you could possibly do is buy the glyph of blind. It buys you a minute of unhindered healing time. VERY helpful. You MUST interrupt Blackhowl's Will.

For poisons I used Mind-Numbing Poison and Crippling Poison.

The 2 minute enrage timer is a lie. I was doing 7600 dps, it took me nearly 7 minutes to do. Used blind/bandages 3 times.

Keep him stunned as long as possible.

DO NOT stand in purple stuff, and get behind him when he does his breath attack.

I suck something fierce as a rogue, so if I can do it, you can too.

I just did it with itemlevel 332, a green quality mainhand dagger and an Ulduar offhand Sword.
All you need is a subtility spec and some time (depends on your gear of course).

In the fighting area there are 2 stairhouses giving you line of sight blocking. Now you repeat the following cycle so long, until the Creed is dead.
Use mind/slow as poisons.

1) Start the fight with a premeditation and recuperate, then cheapshot, backstab and kidney shot. Run to the stairhouse before he can hit you back, use Cloak to prevent the bolt hitting you.

2) You are standing out of sight, so the Mob will come to you, only to meet a shadowdance, cheapshot, kidneyshot, Recuperate. Before his stun wears of, you are on the move to the other stairhouse. He will try to cast on you, but because her entered the first stairhouse, you will be out of sight.

3) Now your shadowdance is on CD, you just gogue the Mob, when he enters. You might get hit, but that's fine, since you spend the combopoint on an new recuperate while running back to the first stairhouse.

Now rinse and repeat, don't get cocky and bring some time, but with that methode, you can best him in all greens.

I was afraid to spend the 10k gold because I didn't think I'd be able to successfully complete this quest; I have no idea how to play assassination or subtlety. However, I was able to complete it fairly easily as combat. I just wanted to confirm that it can be done without Shadowstep.

Reading the comments about the actual fight intimidated me, but I completed it on my first try. The one thing that really saved me was the Glyph of Blind. I burned him down to about 30%, waited for 5 combo points to use Blind, used Recuperate, and bandaged. Other than that, it was fairly simple to avoid standing in stuff. I even missed a couple of interrupts and still beat the enrage timer (didn't even need Evasion).

Granted, I probably have more gear from Dragon Soul than they did when they made the initial posts here, but I found this fight fairly easy if you know what to expect. Don't be too intimidated by this boss!

Simple strat for COMBAT ROGUE. A health-neutral rotation that you can just keep repeating; Blind is not needed.

Requirements:
- Blade Twisting in spec
- Mind-Numbing Poison

Nice-to-have:
- Bandages
- Health pot
- Keybind for Gouge+Bandage
- Keybind for Blind

I didn't use any food buffs, scrolls etc.

The basic plan is:
1) Run in
2) Burst 5xSS
3) Run out
4) 5-pt Recuperate

Because of Blade Twisting he doesn't rejoin you until you are ready.
Use Dismantle the first burst phase, and Evasion the second, so you don't take melee damage from him.

Run out when he casts Consuming Shadows or Breath, and Kick when he casts Blackhorn's Will. If you are at range for Blackhorn's Will,cloak it, or just eat it.

You can throw in Killing Spree on CD, it is quite a good burst.

If Adrenaline Rush is up, go 5xSS - KS - 4xSS - RS - Evisc - 5xSS - run out. That's if you have Dismantle / Evasion up ; if not then just waste the end of your rush, it doesn't really matter as long as you keep health topped up.

In an emergency, Gouge+Bandage, or Blind+Bandage.

Just want to comment that it is possible to kill Creed as a Rogue at any iLevel at the very least as Assassination. It took me about 6 minutes and 40 seconds with iLevel 342 gear.

Having First Aid is a great help, if not basically required. So is respeccing for Improved Recuperate. Deadened Nerves is also a help. Smart use of cooldowns, stuns, and understanding that you have to kite him when you get hurt (which will likely be more often than not.)

Keep Recuperate up. Try to have good SnD uptime, but don't forsake Recuperate over it. Pop Rupture when you can if you aren't needing to use it on a Kidney Shot.

Also, most importantly, he must be blinded at the 4 minute mark or he will enrage and you will die. I was too afraid to test if anything else disrupted his enrage, but Blind definitely works and I'd recommend saving it for it.

Stealth is very hard until you figure out a path once you have a path worked out it is very very easy, may take an hour or two. Not as easy as the fly in option though.

Tips for soloing Creed
Preparation - As you cannot repair etc once inside without re-stealthing back in.
- Mind numbing MH, Deadly Off hand, Deadly Thrown, Buff Food, Flask up and have health potions
- Glyph of Blind - essential ( I also had glyphed Cloak and Gouge)
- I respecced to a Combat PVP build with all the survival talents ( I have never played subtlety)

The Fight
- I preferred to open with a stun (others may like to pre-pot and have at him)
- Use all of your survival cooldowns on a rotation, dismantle, evasion, cloak (glyph helps)
- Use KS, Gouge and Kick (talented) constantly to interrupt
- Keep him close so you can interrupt often but also kite him when you need recovery time and to spread out circles (blade twisting is amazing for this)
- Don't stand in purple without cloak ( if he is stunned in purple FOK).
- Beat on him when he is casting shadow breath (obviously not in the cone)

DPS is not as important as recup and interrupt.
Smoke Bomb does not work on Blackhowl's Will and this spell is the main reason why you don't want to get too much distance as it should be interrupted every time.

Blind when needed (5 point recup + Bandage), my successful attempt I had to blind at a much early stage than i would have like (he had just changed to dragon and knocked me into purple)

Something people havent really explained is a real guide to what to do at the actual fight... they have lists of his moves and how to get to him but not a real guide to how to kill him.

I have killed him. Heres how with hardly any gear.

My prefered spec was sublety... i used 100 agility scrolls and a 400 armor protection scroll. + some 60 agility 60 stamina stat food. I also had Mind-numbing poison on my main hand weapon and deadly on my off hand. I found this to be the best combonation for creed. The mind numbing slows his blackhowl's will cast time by 30% and the deadly stacks to 5 and then keeps applying mind numbing. On engage he will open with a consuming darkness that you have to kite him out of before kicking a quick blackhowl's will. On my ambush and premed dots i recuperated... energized recuperation was a must here. I spammed hemmorhage and alternated my dots between recuperate and kidney shot... kicking his blackhow's will as i kite him across the field staying out of his consuming darkness's.... if u accidently are to far away from him to kick him as he is casting Blackhowl's will you can use an emergency blind to interupt him but he will instantly come out of it... use kidney shot every cd in between your recuperate.... dont wait to use it on spells... disarm every cd, yes it works.... gouge if you need a second to heal.... if you do i would use any pots you have saved.... if you dont have any gear your going to have to face the fact of enrage... you should have him pretty low by now and can hit evasion and sprint out of any consuming darkness casts as they now hit for double damage.... once evasion has run its course disarm him and finish him off.

Also, having guildie's or friends buff you before the fight is INVALUABLE! so in orgrimarr have them buff you with a combo of Mark of the wild, Blessing of might, PW fortitude, shadow protection. if you die these will come off so make sure to vanish if you fail.

you can kill yourself and run back from flying up and when you run back you respawn and you vanish its the easy way of getting to him do it on his bridge so you can use sprint to get to him fast

Just wanted to share how I managed to fly in:

Note, I did this the "right" way once, but couldn't get Creed down. Thinking I could then simply fly in, I hearthed, respecced, and flew back. The eye kept porting me back to the mage.

First, I took off all my gear to avoid damage. I got far enough away to get the eye off me, then flew around to the South end of Gilneas right below the little 1 on my map. I flew as high as I could and then flew toward Creed. The instant the eye appeared on my screen, I dismounted and let myself fall. I ended up dead on the roof of one of the buildings right next to Creed. I released, ran back to my body, and when I hit the button to come back to life, Zazzo told me I'd made it.

I'm assuming this will work for anyone who wants to get to Creed without dealing with the stealthy part of the quest.

If you want the fight against Creed to be easy, put mind numbing poison on your off-hand. This gives you plenty of time to always interrupt Blackhowl's Will, which is the only ability he uses that will put you behind in this fight.

Just did this as combat spec. The sneaking part only requires two rogue abilites, some positioning, and a touch of patience:

You will need to use Sap 5 times on the mobs shown on this
map:

Mob 1/2:When you hop out of water you will destealth. Sap mob 1 when the two patting mobs are not near by. You need to time leaving the water so that you have time to restealth and move up the stairs to the 2nd sap. An optional distract can be used on the dock pat.
Mob 3/4: Sap mob 3, wait for mob 4 to pat up and then back down the ramp. When mob 4 starts patting down the ramp away from mob 3 follow him and sap when you are far enough away from mob 3.
Mob 5: This sap will occur after the 3rd distract. Wait for mob 5 to be patting away from the group you will be distracting

You will need to use Distract 3 times, with one recommended optional distract that are marked on this Map. The optional distract is not shown on this map. Rember if you are in the 180 degree arc behind the mob they will not detect you even if the red circle overlaps them.

This distract is optional but recommended for 2 reasons. 1 the cooldown will be reset by the time you are positioned to need it again and 2 it makes the timing to get through that area trivial.
Distract the 3 mob group near the wall to all be facing the wall. You could probably face them towards the tree and sneak by as well.
Distract three mob group next to the wall to face the tree
Distract the two mobs talking by the wall to face away from teh wall

Let's stitch this all together:

Jump into water
Swim to end of dock
Sap mob 1
Wait for pats to be out of position to detect you before leaving water. Optional Distract
Restealth
Sap mob 2
Move to top of stairs
Distract pats
Move to edge of stairs leading down
Wait for pat on stairs/bridge to be out of position to detect you before moving into canal
Move down right side of canal
Cross canal and sap mob 3
Follow mob 4 to where you will sap him and do so
Distract group 1 towards wall move into spot between tree and them
Wait for distract CD to reset
Distract group 2 towards tree move behind them along wall
Sap mob 5
Move up stairs hugging right hand wall. Mob at top of stairs does not need to be sapped
Distract group 3 and slip past them along the wall
Turn Right
Kill Creed

It really is more difficult getting to Creed than actually killing him.

I managed to kill him after a couple tries with just 327 gears (MH weapon 346, OF weapon 333), with help of flask and food.

I went combat for main gauche. The key to my strats was basically to grind him down with ss/normal attack/main gauche while keeping myself alive. The most important talents in my mind are quickening and improved recuperate. With those two at full points you can basically keep close to full hp throughout the fight. Reinforced leather helped a little, they probably just give you a bigger room for error. I actually had points in improved gouge, but I only had to use it once. I even invested points in improved slice and dice, which turned into a waste since I didn't even use SnD.

Keep recuperate on at all time, start moving away/jumping as soon as he cast consume darkness, kick Blackhowl's will (I found mind-numbing poison to be of much use, gave me margin for error), use SS for combo points, use kidney shot when you have 5 stars, or use recuperate if it was gonna wear out. Use dismantle as soon as cd finishes, I would usually pop adrenaline rush after a kidney shot to get quick combo points for recuperate. I found killing spree to be useless since it is easy to miss a cast when you are dancing around. I saved evasion just in case my health got too low, although it probably wasn't necessary since I never dropped below half health.

I didn't use a single offensive finishing move all fight except at the very end. It takes time, but once you get the hang of it, it is a really easy fight.

The boss is really easy.. when your like 30% Health just blind him and use around 3-5 combo points on Recuperate then wait the full 1 min of your blind so your cooldowns get resetted over time

On Creed Himself:

From Assassination spec- Deadly Brew absolutely trivialized this guy. I did get hit by his nuke ability once or twice, but keeping 5 stack of poisons + Rupture 5pt on him and maintaining Recuperate on myself was more than enough to deal with him without any danger to my health regardless of being hit.

Do yourself the favor and be assassination spec for this!

Okay this is how I did it -

Part 1: Stealth in:

Don't bother - go away from the starting NPC until the eye debuff goes away and the fly to just below the 1 on your map - should be a rocky outcrop on the edge of the river - Fly up and over the City Walls towards the 1 and dismount and stealth just as the eye appears...timed right you should be able to run in and ressurect right in the bosses courtyard.

Part 2: The man himself.

I was struggling as assassination until I used my secondary spec, Combat then re-specced this so I got improved recuperate (this helps a lot) - Poisons - Mind-Numbing and Crippling. then just move out of Consuming Darkness as its cast and interrupt the Blackhowl's Will spell, and move behind him for Shadows Breath and you should have this beaten...

It took me many goes as assassination spec (standard raid spec) until I decided to have a go as combat and it seemed much easier - timing and luck will get you a long way but the daggers are well worth the patience!

Im not sure if this has been posted yet, but if there is another rogue doing the quest for killing Creed, you can team up with him / her.

I noticed another Alliance rogue was on the same q, so I teamed up with him, we didnt group, but just helped eachother out.

The other rogue went in first and tagged him, then I went in 6 sec after and garroted and we nuked him down in short order, after he died, we got ported back to the noam, and HEY HO 2 new shiny daggers for 5 min of work xD

Realizing that the red detection circle was only relevant when you're not within the 5,6,7 o'clock position from the enemy is extremely important. After being flat out stealth detected in the previous part of the chain I had made excessive assumptions.

The street route is very doable. Subtlety is optional but my god shadowstep it save you time!

I did it the first time without relying on shadowstep but got caught by a stupid pat dog by the sewer system. If you're interested in doing it "the right way", read on. If you want to do it the "cheap way", which is the water route, you can skip down near the end (though I think someone else already posted that method)

If you leveled up as subtlety you should be pretty used to this and do this smoothly even if its your first or second time. Basically from where the mage is, head straight almost toward the end while sapping everyone on your way. You can sap people barely outside of the red circle, even if they were facing you! Even if you enter combat as long as you sapped or vanished the split second it happens and reposition yourself, you will not get teleported back.

Once you make it through the gate house you're in this quad area with a tree on your left and a wagon slightly to your right, in front of you. Due to pats, you head to the tree and reroute back around the wagon. Again, sap everyone on your way.

past the wagon, there's a group of 3 ppl sitting and chatting by the wall and a pat who walks in and out of the group. Don't worry about the sitters, at most your red circle will barely touch the person back-facing you. Sap the pat. Now you should only have to keep an eye out for worgen pats to your right, but if i recall correctly if you position yourself correctly there shouldn't ever be any risk of moving on even at his closest point of his pat route.

Facing away from the sitters and towards the pat, you'll see several awnings/tents and lots of people in the area. Just go straight through the awnings and you'll never be seen.

By the end of the awnings, there's a group of 2 people chatting, with a human patting in and out to socialize, and you can see a lone human standing by a flag pole.

If you have shadowstep, shadowstep to the flag guy and immediately sap him. You can now take a breather and review your surroundings.

If not, wait for the pat to go away, distract the chatters, and move around them. Try to make it to the flagpole and sapping the guy there to use it as a staging area.

From there, you can move on to.. i believe there's a wooden fence-like structure, about 10 o'clock from the flag pole if you are backfacing the awnings. Beware of a pat coming in and out of there.

Once you make it past that part, its pretty straightforward sapping/distracting until you reach the stairs.

Becareful at the turn when you make it to the stairs. At ground-level there's one pat dead around the corner who moves somewhat fast and must be sapped as soon as she turns her back on you to give yourself some leeway to time for the other pats. You can try to adjust your camera to see her around the corner.

There are two patrols who will be using the stairs coming in and out of the next square. You needed that previous pat sapped to use her position to watch out for this group. When the coast is clear, speed down the stairs and dash right into the water. Move all the way down the water path until you see two sentries in a somewhat wide passage.

If you wanted the cheap way, all of the above can be skipped by diving into the water, swim towards the nearest stairs you see. Sapping people on the way, distract clusters, and hop down the stairs and dash into the sewers.

I discovered this when i messed up the first the first time after making it all the way to the sewers and really didn't want to try again. In my impatience I realized its actually very possible to go through all that very quickly and smoothly.

Beware of a human + dog pat who will be travelling beside the water path. When you're clear of him, you can distract+sap one of the two sentries and edge towards where she stands and watch out for an incoming pat. Sap her, and you're clear to have another breather.

From here, there's one or two groups of your typical distract & move pass trio's. Make your way up the stairs, and hug right. There are several guards here, but all of them back facing the wall, and being about 5 yards away from the wall. Easy cake to keep moving through, distract/sap as needed. Hard right, no pats, and there's Creed.

Fighting Creed. I'm sub/combat spec. Sub is my preferred spec and I went after him in sub twice, first time getting him down to about 33% the second time down to about 15%. It's pretty rough as sub even with energetic recovery to make sure you have enough energy to keep things going at the right times and being able to kick. My other problem with sub is Blind was not an option for me because I didn't glyph it and Sub simply relies on the bleeds.

I tried combat, and it was simply much easier. He turns drakkenoid but honestly, it didn't felt like much of a "berserk" as combat, just disarm, gouge, kidney shot, blind as needed.

I think sundering his armor was unnecessary because honestly, i completley forgot to use it after the first time. I got him down to 5% health before I had to use blind to be safe (i was at about 20% health) but I do believe when the other poster said he made it through as combat with 70% health.

Overall, interrupting the cast is the most important thing about your survival. The shadowflame breath is not hard at all to dodge and honestly giving you a free pot shots at him from behind, a boon to subs.

The ground AoE's dont hurt all that terribly much. Don't stay in there, but no sweat if u have to quickly move through it if you were out of space or just couldn't pay that much attention.

Just killed creed myself, I must say revealing strike+kidney shot and gouge are your best friends for this fight. Chaining their CC until DR's start hurting, then blinding to reset them gives you so much freedom to heal off recup.

After a lot of trying, I think I may have found the best path through the city. I made a video of it, I hope it helps.

I can pretty much give my personal guarantee that this pathway will work every time, I did well over 30 run-ins while figuring out the software to record it. It's also a super simple pathway that requires little timing, planning or reflexes to get through.

The stealth section and the boss can be done in a group. However, everyone in your group must be on this quest or they will be phased out. Limiting your group to rogues who haven't finished it. If you manage to catch another rogue trying to stealth through it is worth it to group up.

Getting to the boss drove me out of my mind! After reading many posts, and trying many ways – THIS is what I found easiest.

Sorry that I do not have pictures of a video (this is my first real wowhead post)

EASY WAY TO THE BOSS!

1. Jump in the water (left ) and swim to the stairs (left) make sure you are in stealth – easy

2. SHADOWSTEP behind the guard walking down the stairs and SAP – easy
a. Getting out the water breaks stealth, hence Shadowstep is a must!

3. Up the stars – Turn right (avoid guards walking) and jump down to the small bridge – easy

4. Jump into what looks like a sewer drain, channel thing, and get ready to make the FIRST LEFT

5. Avoiding roving patrols, SAP the guard on the right – easy

6. Move into the alleyway and SAP the next guard who is walking back and forth at the other end – GO SLOW as you need to be out of range of the one you just sapped. Try and SAP him when he is far left – easy

7. Hug the wall (on the right) and SHADOWSTEP and SAP the sleeping dog (…yes, that is right the dog –woof, woof - sorry ASPCA) who is in between the two groups of sitting guards. – easy

8. Now… aim for the roving guard closest to the boss, it is a female guard. SHADOWTEP and SAP her when she is close to the LEFT WALL, BUT… you need to time it so the two other roving guards are not in your “stealth zone” – probably the trickiest part. Almost there!

9. Hug the right wall – SAP the guard that will be in your way – easy

10. Keep hugging the wall – you only have 2 more guards in your path (off to your left). Two options
a. DISTRACT and SPRINT past them
b. SAP one and dash into the boss area – this will pull guards so you need to make
sure you engage the boss; this way you can ghost walk back and fight him.

Once you are in the boss area you no longer have to sneak in, but you will take your 8% durability loss each time he kills you.

I defer to others to explain the fight.

A quick and easy way to do this quest without cheesing it is to follow these steps:

1) Ride (not fly) down the path to the southernmost bridge into Gilneas and follow it up to the mobs

2) Shadowstep to the back row of the group of enemies (This is a safe spot to wait for an opening for step three.

3) When theres an opening with no enemies behind the mob on the flag shadowstep over to him (Be careful of the pat with the dog)

4) run up to the pat between you creed sap him and run on through to Creed

Well, just a friendly tip: If you're having a lot of trouble beating this guy (like i did), try applying for a random bg, get all the buffs and leave the battle. The battle will be a lot more smooth if you have all the buffs! :)

Ok, I completed this earlier, solo as combat spec. I tried going through the 'front gate'....got annoyed very quickly, so tried the 'water' route.....got about half way to Creed before finding that I needed the response times and nimble fingers of the ninja I was trying to emulate. I got to creed first time of asking with no fuss using this guys method.

Now, as for the fight itself.
I used no raid foods/buffs/pots/elixirs. Just me...my gear and mind numbing poison on my off hand and instant poison on my main hand. I also used Charred Glyph Because out of habit I always apply Rupture somewhere in a fight. Charred Glyph was also used for that extra few seconds of avoidance.
I chose to make a couple of dummy tries to get an idea of his abilities and how hard he hits etc, just to get into the rhythm before I tried 'properly'. So I would have a little go and build up some combo points and generally have a go and see how it went, I soon realised I was missing the interrupts on Blackhowl's Will , so I vanished and waited for my cd's and had another nibble. Interrupting this ability is the most important thing you will do in this fight because it will drain your energy to zero and hit for around 18k damage.

The other two main abilities he has is Consuming Darkness This is a 40 yard AoE ability that is easily avoided by simply staying on the move as he begins to cast. Don't stand still and don't bother trying to interrupt it, you'll need the interrupt for Blackhowl's Will . keep him in range for kicking though, don't go running off into a corner unless your health is low and you need a few seconds to recuperate.

The other ability he has is Shadow Breath which is a frontal cone aoe ability that is avoided simply by sidestepping around him. He will do nothing else while channeling this spell, so use that time to good effect by building combo points.

The fight itself is a case of rinse and repeat using as your main finishing move and rotating your cc abilities. Combat Readiness Kidney Shot Gouge Blind . These are abilities that will make the fight a lot easier, although I have to admit to not using gouge or combat readiness. Your health will fall, but make sure you keep up at all times.
Kick is the most important ability you will use throughout the fight next to .

You can swallow a couple of Blackhowl's Will no problem as long as you avoid the aoe. If you find you're too far away to kick the Blackhowl's Will , just pop Cloak of Shadows and get after him again. Deadly Throw is also an option but I found I didn't need it.

Probably the best bit of advice I can offer in beating him is to keep your cool, and forget about burning him down fast. You have a 4 minute timer before he enrages, and as anyone will know, 4 minutes is a long time in a fight. Keep your health up, and should you feel you're losing ground, build up a 5 point and Blind him. that 30 seconds will get you back to full health before the blind wears off and give you a great chance at beating him. Use your Kidney Shot when he's casting and dismantle as soon as it's ready unless you intend to blind. Try not to overlap your cc's and most important again, keep that ticking.

If you go as combat, Adrenaline Rush is awesome for building a fast 5 points for either a Kidney Shot or .
Killing Spree is always nice for when he's using Shadow Breath , because you will automatically appear behind him away from the breath.
is also very nice for keeping him away from you as you're maneuvering him after Consuming Darkness . (but not too far away ( again unless you need the time to ) for the kick on Blackhowl's Will ))
Probably the most important talent in the combat tree is Elusiveness . an extra 1% health per tick and damage reduced by 6% while is active. This is why you should keep active at all times.

Whatever you do, don't go into the fight thinking you'll pwn. Use your abilities, use your head, keep calm and think about what you're doing. Try and think of it more as outlasting him rather than killing him.

I hope this helps anyone struggling to do this, I found it pretty easy with mostly ilvl 378 gear once I got past the irritating sneak through gilneas to get to him. Gl and HF. Oh...and enjoy those daggers, they're very very sweet.

I leveled my Rogue to 85 specifically to be able to experience the Dagger questline. So far I've not been disappointed.

Figuring out a route to Creed took me two hours (I didn't read any guides) and when I finally reached him he destroyed my poor equipped Subtlety specced rogue a dozen times, never losing more then 50% of his health. So I hearthstoned and decided to return better prepared.

I respecced to combat and focused on damage-reduction and selfhealing abilities. Recuperate ticked for 6k and Gauge became a great tool to regenerate Health and Energy. Here's the spec I used.

The next try went a lot smoother. With Crippling&Wound Poison his damage was no longer a problem but of course my dps was still low. But with Flask and Agi food I managed to beat him within his Enrage timer and that with a Heavy Geode Mace as Mainhand Weapon. :)

The easiest way in I found is to take the road to the north that leads directly to Creed. In front of you is a guard on two pedestals and 3 lines of guards (5 guards to a line...I think) in between the two guards on the pedestals. There is also a pat that goes to the pedestal but turns around and moves away. It never crosses in front of your path. Now, you're going to need subtlety for this. Once the pat moves away you sap one of the guards on the pedestal.

Now you can move up close enough to distract the first line of guards. This is important, distract ONLY the first line of guards. With their backs now to you you can inch up close enough to shadowstep to the third rank of guards. As these guys never turn around and the first rank is far enough away not to aggro this gets you past the huge mob of guards barring the entrance.

From there you'll see two guards next to you who are facing away and directly in the middle of the courtyard is a big banner with a guard facing you. Watch the patrols and when its clear, shadowstep behind the guard at the banner. Then you sap the patrol that leads to the area Creed is in and walk in.

You don't have to dodge 20 billion patrols, you don't have to wander all over the city. Its a sap, distract, shadowstep, shadowstep, sap, and done.

All this sapping and distracting. How unrogue-ish. We're backstabbing SOBs and take any advantage we can get.

So, if you want to get to Creed the proper way, go see your friendly alchemist and get some Sneaking Potion. 3 should do. It can be done on one, but as a two step maneuver to Creed is so much easier. Have a few extra just in case. This potion here does not break stealth. I went to Creed without one sap or distract.

The potion reduces them to normal. Just don't walk in front of one.

My post completion 2cp comments...

Using a spec for subtlety's shadowstep (x2, sap x2, and 1 distract thru SW gate) made getting in relatively extremely easy. Any other method/path I tried was harder, frustrating, and very time consuming. That's not to say entirely impossible to get to Creed otherwise, just harder.

As main spec combat ~380 ilvl, I had a rough time downing him due to a few things.

Blade Twisting, despite some other posts here, didn't help me. After my first few tries, getting Blackhowl's Will casted with him lingering too long in his "void zones", I respecced it out.This was also when I grabbed Subtlety-shadowstep to get back into town.
DoTs- Again, after the first few tries, I gave up using any dots, as it was quickly obvious I needed as much CC time as I could get without dots interrupting them. Used Instant/Mind Numbing poisons.
Mind Numbing helps give more time for interrupting Blackhowl's Will, but I just sucked/failed at kicking more than 2 per attempt. Although a few times I noticed this was partly due to moments of "SS spam".
Blind and Enrage- This was probably my biggest hurdle after I did enough attempts to get comfortable with the mechanics and Creed 100-500k hp a few times. Blind can last upto 1 min, which is nice to bandage and let Recuperate tick away, but ~20s of blind is most I could spare.
Killing Spree must've bugged slightly once as it triggered Blackhowl's Rage and I went splat. At least I believe this was the cause, due to no other explanation I can offer.

All in all a rough fight, takes some time to adjust to it. Feel free to use every cd you have, at the right times. I kept up Recuperate constantly, Dismantle on cd, 4-5 pt Kidney Shots, Gouge periodically (for interrupt and/or Recup tick), SnD when had cp's to spare. Smoke Bomb, Cloak of Shadows are helpful and shouldnt be forgotten.

I had trouble with the sneaking part, the route that I used and worked well was, go through the bridge, enter the complex, turn right and then left right away. Turn left again towards the main square. Once there wait for the pats and shadowstep towards the sleepy guy on the wall. Keep hugging the wall until you are in front of the training ground. Once there walk through the training dummies and sap the mob practicing melee. Then keep walking towards the bridge, you will need a few saps and a shadowstep. Once you are on the edge of the stairs, distract people below and jump to the canals, from here on is cake.

The boss has 1800k health aprox and can be stunned, interrupted, cheap shoted, etc...

There's a lot of comments here and I'm too tired to read, so in case this hasn't been mentioned here's something to make the fight easier:
if you and a healer you know have done the Silverpine quests (possibly only the ones in Gilneas, but I did all of them just in case), the healer can fly to you and be in your (but not Creed's) phase. Made the fight infinitely easier. I was a 350 or so ilvl, so I could only get him down to around 75% alone. At 85, it didn't take long at all to do the quests.

Killed the boss today with my 333ilvl rogue (333 and 312 dagers).

My trick was to use a PVP spec and to be sure to kick all BlackHowl's Will (speed cast poison is a must).

Once your health start to be a bit low (30%) use a 5p recuperate and up back to 5cp using your hemo. Then blind him.
When the first recuperate fade, refresh it with your 5cp. You will be back to full health at the end and if you wait for the blind full duration it will be up after only 1minute.

Use other CD as disarm and evade to survive 1minute.

Repeat til the boss is dead.

My 5 cents: I've managed to down Creed with Combat rogue ilvl 375 (basically, I bought all the boe epics I could plus some 377 ilvl rare pvp items to fill the gaps and ran LFR once) and attempted the kill for like 20 times with no success. I then ran a couple of HoTs, enchanted 397 ilvl items with proper enchantments, put Landslide on both of my 365 weapons, got pve consumables: flask, food and Runescroll of Fortitude II and got the guy down on a 3rd attempt. I'm putting it here so you know it's doable almost right after the ding, with a PVE spec (I did not respec to kill the guy, only used a major Sap glyph to get to him).

As for the stealth part, just get on a mount, leave the quest zone, then fly over the bridge that leads directly to Creed and stealth in the air a second after you enter Gilneas. With some luck, you'll be alive and stealthed a few steps away from Creed. In the worst case (like mine) you'll die of falling and then you can just respawn in Creed's yard with no stealthing issues whatsoever.

On the other hand, I highly recommend doing the stealth part in a proper way at least once - it's like playing a totally different game, more similar to Hitman than WoW.

This seems doable in sub spec, however, because vanishing will make you need to start over, it will go very slowly. Because of this, I chose to go combat specced. Being still pretty new to being a rogue, and just dinging the day before, these things helped me:

- flask up, even if it's something simple like winterfall firewater.
- have others buff you, or go into somewhere like AV. you can also possibly get a warlock candy here.
- level up first aid. I didnt have this, but it wouldve been soooo much easier.
- bring pots.

You can bring in stealth potions to get in, thats what I did after my third time stealthing through. I could basically just sprint to the boss without worrying about where I was.

Start a timer (click on the time on your minimap) and set it to start going when you pull the boss. Hit blind at about 3 minutes. Ideally, keep recoup up the entire time, and hit blind when you have five combo points up, so you can refresh while waiting out blind. Wait blind out, you can use it to also wait out your other cooldowns such as evasion.

Take a deep breath, dont expect to get it first off. Next, dont worry when he turns into a draknoid. This freaked me out and I assumed he was beserking - this is normal, it will happen at about 75%. The fight is actually easier at this point, so dont freak out.

Interrupt any Blackhowl's Will you can. Dont worry about interrupting his breath attack, just move to the side.

I did this with ilevel 333 weapons, which was apparently "not easy" to do according to the rogue in my raid that did it ages ago. If I can do it, any of you guys can too. Dont worry! you'll do great!

Oh, and I totally recommend crippling and mindnumbing poison. You dont -have- to do crippling, but i liked that I could run away and kite the boss. The mindnumbing really helped out with being able to interrupt him, though. Try to use all your damage mitigation cooldowns, but dont blow them at once. try to stagger them. (Evasion, followed by Combat Readiness for example.)

As for general rotation, I went like this:
- open with Cheap Shot, use any good cooldowns such as Killing Spree here.
- SS/whateveryouwant x 5, recoup. Possibly start using some of your damage mitagation cooldowns like evasion.
- SS/whateveryouwant x5, kidney shot.
- SS/whatever x5 - either recoup, or if youre still good, SND. Just to add a bit of DPS.
do this until about 2 1/2 or 3 minutes, then blind. Take a breather while he walks around. Repeat.

Having some serious issues with the stealth part.

Not which mobs/packs I use Distract on, I still get seen and attacked. I've seen all the videos and tried everything. I've even used Distract on a single mob and tried to pass but was still seen. What gives?

A ShortCut To Get To Creed
1.Create a macro that is:
/dismount
/stealth
2.Run on the road behind Zazzo Twinklefingers until the Eye of Zazzo is off of you.
3.Mount up and fly to the bridge South of you.
4.Look for the building that Lord Hiram Creed is in.(The square building behind the church.)
5.Once you find the building, fly up high enough that if you dismounted you would die.
6.Fly straight to the building that Lord Hiram Creed is in and pop the macro.(You have to do this before the Eye of Zazzo is on you.
7.You should die when you hit the ground near the building.
8.Release your spirit and run back and resurrect in Lord Hiram Creeds room.

5 hours of doing this and i can NOT even win, Im getting pissed off with this, ive spent more money on repairs then anything else and im getting sick of this bull$%^&!

No other rogue is doing this mission so its impossible to do!

Just a couple things I picked up while doing this last night. First, you're really missing out if you try to skip or cheat your way through the stealth mission. As frustrating as it it, it's also very rewarding. I read a hilarious post under one of the how-to vids on youtube by someone who had rolled the rogue as a fun alt, but was going to give up playing him because this quest is too hard. This is why not everyone deserves the legendaries.

In general you should be well stocked with potions, food and bandages before you begin this mission. Glyph of Blind would also be helpful during this fight. This glyph will remove all of your dots when using Blind so you can use the full duration to bandage, reduce your ability cooldowns, and take a deep breath.

As a combat rogue one of the things I noticed on the Creed fight that I haven't seen posted anywhere else, is that with Blade Twisting (if you are specced into it) he will follow very slowly. He also seems to cast Blackwill's Howl a couple of seconds after casting Consuming Darkness. Therefore, when exiting the void zone of Consuming Darkness, make sure you keep him in melee range because if he stops to cast Blackwill's Howl and you are out of range to interrupt, you're in trouble.

Someone higher up posted about putting mind numbing poison on your thrown weapon and using FoK to apply it. Great idea, wish I'd thought of that.

Also keep in mind that Creed is succeptible to all of your stuns (cheap shot, kidney shot, blind...) which will give you alot of extra breathing room here.

If you are getting frustrated just remember it's just a matter of doing it a few times in order to be able to anticipate what he will do next. When you are able to dodge and interrupt all of his abilities, this fight becomes easy. Don't worry about Dps (On the attempt on which I downed him I did 14k Dps...). Just focus on staying alive and staying relaxed.

Another good trick is to come in stealthed, open with a cheap shot, do three quick SSes, building up 5 CPs, and then Vanish. Wait for your Vanish to come off CD (if you die during this fight the run back is fairly long). Get Slice and Dice going, cheap shot again, build to 5, and get recup going. In this way, the fight has just started and you have SnD and Recup already up and can save your next 5 CPs for Rupture, Kidney Shot, or Evisc.

Before starting the fight, always make sure that Vanish is off cooldown so you can bail out if you think you won't make it. I did this 2 or 3 times and it sure beats a long run back and repair bill. Good Luck!

Today i found out that this quest was bugged when i did it. When another rogue kill it and you are near by you will also get the kill :) So if you are lazy and know there are other rogues around just wait and get the quest done

I did this quest last week and got annoyed pretty fast failing to go very far inside Gilneas by taking the road through the Merchant Square or the water road to the south of the merchant square. I found an easier way, which requires a subtlety build:

1- Ride to the military district's main gate.
2- go into stealth and walk across the bridge. Notice the several lines of footmen and quiver in fear. On second thought, don't.
3- Distract the pack of footmen by centering your spell on the building to your right and Shadowstep behind the middle guy on the last row and Sap him.
4- quickly move forward and to your right (second dot on This map from the bridge.) You may have to sap another guard there. Keep him sapped. It won't hurt.
5- Be mindful of the wandering mobs, and when they are away from this post (Third dot on the map), Shadowstep behind the footman next to the post and Sap him.
6- There is a single Worgen between you and Lord Hiram Creed. Move forward and Sap him.
7- Enter the courtyard, kill Creed and profit.

This route is hard, but it is 30 seconds of effort and only a couple of occasions to fail miserably, as opposed to a several minutes kind-of-difficult route with lots of opportunities to fail for fat-fingered people like me.
It took me three tries and spared me a lot of aggravation.

When I got to Creed, another rogue was there waiting for some assistance. That made the fight trivial for me.

I found a really quick way in. Straight up the main entrance. Go to the front gate where there are all the guards. Sap one on the right the shadowstep to the last guard in that group. You will be right in the middle of 4 guards but they are all looking the other direction so dont move much. Then shadowstep to the guard right under the flagpole. Just time it right with the patrols. Then sap the Howler and straight in from there. Hope this helps as i am doing this 2 weelks before MoP

A very late tip on the stealth part—get on your mount (pure ground mount to avoid the dismount and resummon) and ride around to the southeast bridge. Shadowstep over the three ranks of guards, shadowstep into the center of the courtyard, sap the pat if necessary, and run straight through to Creed.

At level 90 you can now just slaughter your way through instead of stealthing. With Shuriken Toss, you can now kill them before they can trigger an alarm.

This quest is extremely trivial in your 90s. Your detection radius is far smaller than the red circle. You won't be detected unless you basically walk right on top of the mobs.

As of 6.1 it is now impossible to do on a level 85 combat rogue. Even a rogue in full Heroic DS gear cant do the damage nor live through the bosses melee attacks.

As a 96 combat rogue, this is how I did it. (It's a version of a later post and I wanted to clean it up a bit.) At the start point, silver cursor, jump off the left side of the bridge into the water and use either:

Azure Water Strider
Anglers Fishing Raft
Elixir of Water Walking

Proceed in a NW direction in the water until you go under the bridge and reach a point where Zazzo's Eye falls off and you are actually showing up in the Ruins of Gilneas.

From this point get on your flying mount and rise straight up until you're about even with the tops of the buildings. Fly straight forward and when you see the boss dismount in the air and you'll land in the boss area. I survived my fall and defeated the boss easily at my current level. Make sure when you initially get on your flying mount that you are labeled as being in the Ruins of Gilneas or Zazzo will teleport you out. If you try to fly down to the boss or aren't quick enough with the mid-air dismount Zazzo will teleport you out.

Description

The city has been in chaos for days now. Hiram Creed, disguised as a Gilnean, has infected the lot of those dogs with his own draconic blood. Even the Forsaken are having trouble routing him out.

Only a surgical assassination can end this!

The bridge behind me is relatively unguarded. Slip in through merchant's square and head south - you'll find Creed in the middle of the military district.

I'll keep an eye on you and pull you out if there's any trouble.

...There WILL be trouble!
