This item does not work outside of Felwood.

I tried it out thinking I would keep the quest item instead of turning it in for the trinket, but it tells you it only works in Felwood if you try to put rainbows anywhere else. All of Felwood seems fair game though... but, honestly, who is ever going to be there.

For those who have played Robot Unicorn Attack, this quest will make you smile. Again. And again. For those that haven't, picture a unicorn chasing through rainbows to collect stars, all while Erasure - Always is playing in the background. Notice the quest text.

Quest: Open Their Eyes.
Quest Completion: "I see.... their eyes are open."
Erasure - Always lyrics:
"Open your eyes, I see
Your eyes are open."

By far the best quest in the expansion so far, and that includes the Horde grand finale in Stonetalon Peaks.

EDIT: A lot of haters in here purging the slightest mention of Robot Unicorn Attack. Oh well.

I have to admit, I doubled over in my seat when I dislodged from my mount (...Celestial Steed, no less; that really fit the theme, since I see it compared to the Robot Unicorn games) to use the prism. The matters of irony only increase with the fact I was on my male belf hunter, with a pet named XY (kudos to those who know it's a male chromosome).

On a more serious note, you need to be a little close to the imps, not just drop it randomly at a distance. The prism works like a holy nova, after all. ...And if one of them actually hits you, yes, hunters and locks: your pet will try to kill it if it's on defensive. I just stuck my pet on passive and shot rainbows at imps for a good 30sec.

This quest does come at the end of a quest chain, but it's all very straightforward. You get the starting quest from Arcanist Delaris, the same person who gives the "Open Their Eyes" quest.

1. Do the Imp-Possible
2. See the Invisible
3. Touch the Untouchable
4. Break the Unbreakable
5. Open Their Eyes

You can pick up more quests from a nearby NPC, Eridan Bluewind, but those 5 quests are all you need to complete for a Rainbow Generator. Takes less than 10 minutes for most!

The prisim is really what I want, but it doesn't seem to work outside of Feralas. However, no error speech is caused while attempting to use it in another zone. Perhaps this is a bug?

Was doing some archaeology in this zone just north of the quest and decided to finally get my rainbow generator while I'm out here. Today is the 5th though and double rainbow guy recorded that on the 8th of this month so I'm thinking about waiting until the 8th to get it haha.

SO...i'm on my 110 hunter main when I did this & this is what happened -

I got there did "Do the Imp-Possible" no problem. Turned it in & Impsy wasn't showing up. I flew all over Felwood hoping it was a phasing thing. After about 10mins, I got on an alt. Did the quest & same thing. No Impsy. A 110 DK came to where Impsy is & grabbed the 2nd quest See the Invisible....& I l know he did cuz he started killing oozes as you're suppose to. So I thought maybe if I reload, Impsy will appear. Nope...NADA! Sooo I just closed out of WoW completely, closed on my bnet desktop & everything. Restarted it, signed in & whatd'ya know? That little #$%^ Impsy showed up, wasn't phased & had a quest for me. So I finished the 2nd quest, then 3rd (Touch the Untouchable,) then 4th (Break the Unbreakable,) & lastly the 5th (Open Their Eyes,) which gives you the Rainbow Generator that we're all obviously going thru all this trouble for.

Thought i'd share in case someone has the same issue. Hope this helped! Thanks.

I thought it was blizz's attempt to blast homophobic folks, see the rainbow and run in fear , you get it.

I never played robot unicorn attack so I can't appreciate it at the level. I guess one could also theoroize that this was some attempt to bring Whimydale in WOW? Whimsydale is a level in Diablo III full of rainbows, unicorns and happy clouds.

To get the full super rainbow effect your character should eat some Rainbow Fin Albacore and should be wearing Rainbow Band with the Rainbow Girdle, too while using their Rainbow Generator! xD

Puzzlingly I just did this quest, and the prism no longer shoots a rainbow. Instead, it causes a bubble of light to burst from your character in a fashion similar to holy nova. It seems to have been quietly changed without explanation, but you can speculate the possible reasons as you feel free.

Despite this change, the quest will still reward items such as Rainbow Band and Rainbow Generator.

Before you go...

I've taken advantage of my "alone time" with Impsy here to learn some interesting facts about imps. Specifically, he ended up telling me the one thing that all imps fear most. Something they're absolutely terrified of.

I thought that sounded useful as well as interesting, so I've done some basic conjuring. This prism will project an image of... well, of what Impsy described.

Shadowlurk Ridge is still swarming with imps. Why don't you go test their reaction for me?
