Not sure if this one is bugged, but as of beta 4.0.3.13117, the chance that a slacking laborer will agg on you instead of giving quest credit upon talking to them seems a lot higher than it should be. Took me quite a while to get all 6 needed for the quest.

If you want to avoid fighting the slackers who respond aggressively, mount up on your flying mount and then interact with them.

If you hear the aggro noise, fly up in the air, you will drop combat and they will despawn. If you're successful, you won't need to dismount.

If you are used to play with camera at max distance, turning nameplates off helps here to see what laborers are slacking

Pretty bad quest. I've talked to 12 slackers and only 2 completed, and the respawns are horrible as previously mentioned.

Edit: After posting, I got 4 out of my next 5. RNG is RNG.

its pretty easy qst, just find the slacking laborer and try to talk to them while you are on mount and after u talk just fly a bit away so they cant hit you and they gonna disappear and if you are lucky they will not hit you and you will done your quest

I have the problem that there where just 2 of them to talk and wait for 30min and no more respawn, so i kill all of them and then respawn in 5min and i was able to talk to them and finish the quest

When i put the uniform on they turn yellow but when i hover over them, there is no chat bubble, only a sword as if to attack them. Has anyone come across this problem?

You have to attack the Slacking Laborers first. I took them below %50 and then talked to them. Bam! They are motivated.

If you use a fear ability on one of the Slacking Laborers who's attacking you, there's a chance they will bring the regular laborers back with them to attack you - even if you're still wearing the uniform and they are non-aggressive to you! So watch out with those fear bombs.

To make this quest faster, use your flying mount, talk to the Slacking Laborer, and after finishing the talk fly, so you can do it faster. It worked for me, finished the quest in less than 5 minutes.

I started this quest mounted. I'd locate the lazy imbeciles, click on them to start dialogue n immediately rise up enough out of reach if they attacked. Took 3-4 mts. total to get all of the required men.

You have to remove your weapons before entering the zone, just put them to backpack, weapon slots must be empty (i removed even ranged) and they're all over area called shnottz landing ^^

With weapons on 3/3 attacked me.
With weapons off only 1/7 attacked.
These numbers are so small they hardly can be considered correct, but it is worth a try.

I don't know if it was a coincidence, but I have never been attacked by the ones sleeping, when interacting with them.

Woke up at least 4 in a row, and none turned aggro.

Can anyone confirm this?

Spawn rate for "Slacking Laborer" is crappy, but that's the only thing I found wrong with the quest. As long as you have the patience to wait around for the "Slacking Laborer" to spawn ... you're good.

Idd...that works, fly over the area, talk to the ones that are sitting or sleeping (you can see green zzzzzz upon them) and it will take you no more than 5 mins

Yeah the success rate is horrible, but at least if you are mounted and fly up a little after talking to them, you don't have to fight them. Thus you can go through many of them quickly and finally get all you need.

I had 100% success rate when I stayed on my flying mount. Not sure if it's an "intimidation" thing so to say but once I stayed on took less then 30 seconds.

This quest is clearly lacking in some form of BOOTERANG.

Compliant peons-- I mean laborers take a little longer to respond than hostiles. Also, not-Slacking laborers nearby WILL aggro if you trigger a hostile.

i had a problem with the first ones i tried for, but noticed that while i was talking to them, if you watch what they are saying before you tell them to get back to work, you can usually tell which ones are going to attack. the more aggressive sounding statement, like the ones that complain about not getting paid = attack, more bored, such as the one asking you to block the shade for him = less likely to attack

I found this to be one of the easiest quests ever.... after killing about a dozen and finally figuring it out :).

Only talk to the laying down or sitting down slacking workers. They will show a conversation bubble when you mouse over them.

Simple.

Alright, all i can say is your best bet to get this done quickly, Dont have any weapons equipped, use your flying mount to fly into the air when they go hostile, and dont land on the ground when you talk to them, stay hovering in the air a little.

Prepare to grind like the vanilla days. It took me at least 4 attackers per remotivated. That makes at least 24 kills and 30 slackers hunted.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended, but if you want to save yourself some time on this quest, I have a tip: Read the 'gossip' text of the slackers before trying to motivate them. ONLY the ones who complained about it being too hot to work in their uniforms actually went back to work for me. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it's worth a shot.

Ok, This quest has nothing to do with your weapons.
I completed the whole thing w/ them on.
The best thing is to be flying equiped, and fly if they agrro.

killed one then read this forum. and the only thing i was doing wrong was I had picked the wrong type of worker.

done in 3 min.

The fastest respawn rates for these guys is in the site (24,60) near the camp, but it seems to me at least that they are more likely to fight you in this area then they are in the other two areas.

One of the things I discovered was the slacking laborers that are sitting down, usually do not attack, they just go to work. The ones that are sleeping tend to attack.

on my hunter i just used track humanoids and they all showed up on minimap. finished quest quickly. not sure if druids still have use of the same method?

As far as I could tell, if you talk to the ones that are sleeping they will get back to work. As another person stated, I found that if you catch them right when they get back to sitting they respond positively and get back to work. I'm thinking Blizzard might have being creative on this one... I recommend paying attention to what they are saying and they're actions. Once I found the 'pattern' I finished the quest right away... I hope this helps a little, I sure as heck needed all of your help, got it, and I thank you all for it!

Very easy: attack before you talk to them! They'll go right back to work!

Edit: Hmm, sorry, that only worked on the first two, didn't quite work on all the time. It mainly worked on sleeping workers but not all.

Not sure if this quest was ninja-changed, but I remember how annoying it was right after Cata released, when it seemed 10% success rate for the workers to go back to work. I just did it and only had to go through 8 or 9 workers to get all 6 needed. When I did it in December, it took about 20 workers.

After investigating, I think specific reactions are almost certainly intended. Laborers who ask a player to block the sun or complain about the heat will not attack; Laborers who complain about wages will attack. If you right-click to discover the latter, exit the dialog and right-click again — another complaint will be chosen at random, so you'll eventually find the Laborer in a, shall we say, amenable disposition.

I killed about 15 on foot before staying mounted up and had about a 50% success rate this way. I don't know if it's coincidence or not.

when you approach a lazy soldier, isolate him and if he has a symbol for speaking, then he is ok to click on and u will get the credit

The best way to complete this quest... is to bring someone into the room and watch you do it, so you can show them how terrible it is.

Seriously.

I don't know how many of these guys I killed; streams of lazy laborers becoming angry and choosing death over work. Eventually, I came here and found the flying mount trick, only to aggro even more of the workers. I called my fiancee over to watch how terrible the success rate is.... and got six peaceful workers in a row.

She may not believe me, but my quest is DONE! XD

I will somewhat agree with Oakleafwolf, You can go in and run away if they attack 1,2, or even three at a time ( This being lvl 85) They will disappear though after they run back to where you attacked.

The flying mount trick does work! I did however noticed a somewhat lower success rate but still got it done. Fly down atop of them and talk to them, if they attack fly up. Simple. Enjoy!

Arghhh .. really mad after 17 slackers in a row turned hostile. This about my 15th toon that's done this quest and never seen anything like it. Logged, stomped around the house for a while, came back on and it's back to normal, only every 2nd or 3rd slacker jumps you. Try the re-logging if you're having real bad luck.

Small tip for druids, when you are talking to the slackers do it in your flight form. If the slacker prepares to attack you just fly high and you will get out of combat. Then just talk to them again and they should start working. No fighting needed for peace loving druids :3

I found a large group at 20.5, 53.9 and also at 18.0, 60.1. Like other people have said, if you mount up and hover over them when you talk to them, if they turn aggressive just fly in the air a little bit and it will despawn!

I had terrible luck trying to get proper response, then realised that reapplying uniform helped tremendously. Esp after a combat encounter re apply uniform. Went from 1 in 10 to every other attempt succesful in getting workers off their ass. And also found that staying mounted was best approach.

For those of you having trouble with this quest, in order to to complete it you must first equip "Refurbished Trooper Uniform. Once you do the slackers will go from hostile to neutral, then you can talk to them. Hope this helps!

The highest rated comments here are useless. Here is what you have to do:

1. Go to Schnottz's landing
2. Click on the uniform to put it on (You must be in Schnottz's Landing)
3. Find a slacking worker. They are either sitting or sleeping. You cannot talk to workers that are working.
4. Left click on him to talk to him. Your cursor will turn into a chat bubble when you are able to do this.

Most will attack you, and some will go back to work. You do not have to remove your weapons. Being mounted allows you to fly away if one starts to attack you after talking to him, and speeds up the quest.

Hey guys, it seems that the ones saying: "Say, would you mind just blocking the sun with your shadow for a little while. That be great...." are the ones you need to talk to. Just talk to the slackers and if they don't respond as above, close the chat window and try again.

The ratio of slackers that will go "back to work" is appalling in comparison with the ones that will go mad and try to kill you...

As many people have already said, do this quest while in a flying mount or form, so you can avoid a useless fighting and keep moving.

Okay so... there are 4 camps with the laborers in them and some have a lot more than others. You dont have to be on your flying mount or remove your weapons. Just look for the laborers that are labled " Slacking Laborer" and talk to them. Some may try to fight you, but most wont. Best of luck.

You guys are the best, I never would have figured that one out. Usually you dismount when interacting with mobs, so I didn't even try. There are a very few of us leveling the guild, and I had been up day and night at it. Thank you so much for speeding it up.
