is this quest bugged ? my valkyr and the forsaken soldier despawned on the way to the body and at the body theres no one to turn the quest in...i abandoned it and now i cant get the quest again because the giver is not there also....stuck at silverpine quests because of this :/

Logging in and out worked for me aswell, the valkyr and the forsaken dude appeared a few seconds after i relogged.

I went this morning to do the quests in silverpine, all good until i reached this part where you get the 2 quests, one to kill 20 worgen and the one that leads to Sir Godfrey.

On the way to godfrey i killed the mobs, and i did the mistake of competing the quest as the quest-giver was running alongside with me. He then vanished, and i could not complete the quest to the place where godfrey is. Uppon abandoning the quest the quest giver was nowhere to be found, probably an error with the phasing system.

Later this evening i returned and by chance there was a fellow doing the quest in question. I asked him if it was possible to share the quest and i got it, and proceeded to normally finish the quest.

Since i doubt that anyone is reading this prior to getting the 2 quests (if you do, update the godfrey quest part first), try to get a fellow at this part of the silverpine quests to share you the quest, otherwise you'll have to wait for a permanent fix.

If you get to the beach and the questgivers are not there, then return to the village where you met the 2 guys, run into the building and they should spawn. hand in the quest and go to the beach to pick up the next one.

I had the same problem with the not spawning questgiver. I tried logging out for a moment but that didn`t help. So I wrote a ticket asking for help, logged out and went to bed. I checked after getting up, my ticket was still unanswered but the questgiver did spawn.

I had the same problem it appears to be a bug involved with mounting...just do not be mounted when you do the quest. Most likely wasn't discovered during beta due to it being a level 15ish area.

Hello!
I had the same spawning problem , and I have made a huge mistake after: I abandoned the quest...finally someone shared the quest with me and I managed to finish it. Anyway , everyone that's leveling in Ruins of Gilneas or wants the Silverpine achievement , shouldn't :
--1-- Return the worgen slaying quest.
--2-- Abandon it if he doesn't meet the questgiver at Lord Godfrey's corpse.
Best way to get through this situation if you're stuck is to ask someone for a quest share and you will have the val'kyr and the undead guy waiting for you in Gilneas anywhere , anytime.
Good luck and have fun. You'll see how malefic Godfrey eventually turn to be!

Confirmed that, strangely enough, walking into that building respawns your companions and allows you to turn in the quest, after which Belmont is waiting down by the corpse for your next quest. I guess it works for some and not for all, but it's definitely worth trying since it fixed it for me and was much faster than waiting for someone else with the quest.

Ok i found most of this information useless. Here's the deal when you get this quest you will get another one that asks you to kill 20 worgen do that first. If you do not turn this quest in first you have to find someone else who is running the quest and use their NPC. You can kill them on the way to Godfrey's body which is located at 79.7, 75.7 in Gilneas. (NOT the Abyssal Depths as pictured above). He's in the tempest's reach area of the map on the coast line. After awakening Godfrey you open more quests in Silverpine there is a quest where you will be accompanied (like this one) with other NPC. This quest takes place in the Battlefront area of Silverpine. You must kill some Croc's while with them to pick up a Drop quest. You cant do it unless your with them. Do not miss this quest Hope this clears things up.

P.S Also this wasn't clear to me at first but All Quests in Ruins of Gilneas count as Silverpine Quests. I was reading all the buggs about this achievement and couldn't figure out why I was stuck at 30 quests. I was because I had not done any of these quests

I also can confirm that if you enter the building up the hill at the ruins, he will appear and u can return quest then go to corpse and get the next

I got the quest to find Godfrey's body, did. Got a quest to kill some worgen's with Belmont n Arthura, did. Then I returned to Godfrey' body, to find them both there. Took the quest Belmont offered. Arthura then flies both you and Godfrey's body out of the zone to Sylvannas at the Forsaken Front. You'll either turn or pick up a quest, at which Sylvannas than has Arthura, with 2 other val'kyr's bring Godfrey and 2 other human corpses back to 'life'. Good show.

I just clicked on him really quickly out of desperation as he and Arthura were fading away, and they came back. Same after I turned in the other quest that ends with him. Hopefully that helps!

Because of the phasing once you abandon the quest you cant get it back and you wont see the npcs so nobody can share the quest with you so dont abandon it and can anybody help with what the next quest chain after this on so i can start it

I have been trying to re-take after abandoning this quest since 4.0.3. I entened every building in Emberstone Village with no results... Just now, in my way to look at the proper name of the zone when you first take the quest to summit a ticket, I ended in Emberstone Mine, and as I entered the mine, Arthura and Belmont suddenly respawned by my side.

Hope it help other who abandoned it...

I had the same issues, however mine despawned as I found Godfrey. I tried all, and the thing that debugged for me was entering and exiting the building. Fortunately no ticket required for me

For those whom can't see the quest giver return: DISMOUNT.

For all of those commentors who saw the quest giver again logging, attacking or being attacked, or after after entering and exiting a building: It's because doing those things makes you dismount.

When my map showed him to be on the beach off that cliff, I didn't want to have to jump to my death (Second death as I'm Undead?) to get to him, so I got looking around and noticed there is a small area where you can jump and only be hurt a bit to reach him with your buddies still coming along.

Actually, you don't have to return to Emberstone. If you turned in the quest right after killing the 20 worgen like I did, and had them disappear, you can enter any nearby building wherever you are at and they will reappear so you can turn the quest in.

Actually, I can confirm this: I completed the worgen quest, they disappeared, I entered a building near the question mark where there wasn't any PNG to return the quest, they appeared inside the building and I could complete it.

Try this before asking GMs.

The npc name is Lord Godfrey. Do not /target Lord Vincent Godfrey.

The easy solution for NPC's not appearing on this quest:
1.When you find the the Body of Godfrey climb back up and jump to your death.
2.Run back and pick your body
3.Npc reappears.

*sidenote*
If you are low level to do the quest just run to discover the body of Godfrey and do Step 1.2 and 3 both Npc will join you in the fight and you completed the quest.

For anyone doing the loremaster achievement, I completed this quest but found I was only at 40/55 and there was no follow on quest. Both npc's were still with me but I wasn't sure why. I flew all around and even read advice on here but nothing helped me. If you're in the same boat then let me suggest what I eventually did....

You are supposed to go on foot from the building to the left of Emberstone Mine and follow the path down towards where Godfrey's body is. As you leave through the gates you automatically get a quest assigned to kill 20 worgens. It was when I'd done that and handed it in that they both disappeared so I returned to the location of Godfrey's body and they were waiting for me there to continue on the next quest.

Always doing their part for the cause, the Forsaken are resurrecting a bigot who will ultimately betray them.

Godfrey threw himself off a cliff when his his attempt to take over Gilneas was thwarted and his allies slain. His seditious acts were prompted by his King Genn revealing himself to be a Worgen.

The Forsaken should have left him there.

Once I turned in after killing the 20 worgen and the two disappeared, I could not exit combat mode. Didn't matter if anyone was around or not. Also couldn't turn in, and none of the solutions above worked.

But if I got myself killed (using Return to Graveyard didn't work) and abandoned the quest after finding my corpse, the two NPCs reappeared and I could retake the quest.

If I entered combat though, they disappeared again and once more I couldn't get out of combat mode.

Found it easiest to die as close to Lord Godfrey's corpse as possible, run back to my corpse, abandon the quest and run to Lord Godfrey's corpse before retaking the quest.

Weird bug.

If you're a high level and doing these quests low level, you may need to dismount.
I had to dismount from my flying mount to complete the quest.

You need to dismount at the gates of Gilneas in a later quest with Godfrey & Silvanas.

I found it easier to swim from up by the mine and around the coast to the beach where Godfrey's body is.

As of January 2017 the next quest pick up still bugs if you are mounted when you turn this in. I had 41 of 55 towards Loremaster and was on my flying mount when I turned in the quest and the NPC's disappeared, there was also no quests in my log for me to abandon. Dismounting made the NPC's reappear, but not have the next quest available. I tried all of the comments below, swimming to the bottom, flying to the Forsaken Front, flying to the Emberstone mine, etc. did not work. Some comments helped, but I'm tying them together for convenience.

If you accidentally turned it in while mounted:

If you dismounted you should be standing with the NPC's
Get on a riding mount and follow the paths northeast towards Emberstone Mine
Around coords 73,47 the quest Resistance is Futile will pop up on your screen.
The one NPC will now have a gray question mark over his head. Kill the 20 Worgen and turn in the quest.
The NPC's will disappear again, but it's ok. Fly back to Godfrey's body at 79,75
The NPC's will be there with your next quest. The Great Escape which automatically takes you back to the Forsaken Front

FYI the next quest, Rise, Godfrey, took a little long to appear for me so I was starting to think it was another bug. Might have just been my PC running slow, but just a heads up.

Be sure to complete Resistance is Futile along the way before getting to Godfrey's body. Otherwise you'll have to double back and finish it before getting followup quest The Great Escape.

Description

Lord Vincent Godfrey spent his life defending the kingdom of Gilneas. When the worgen curse ravaged this land, Godfrey was one of the first Gilneans to take up arms against the beasts. It is said that upon discovering that his king was afflicted by the curse, Godfrey took his own life. He would rather be dead than serve the very creatures that he had defended his home against.

We are going to give him a second chance, <name>. Together we will battle southeast towards Tempest's Reach to collect his corpse.
