I have to wonder if Blizzard has learned anything since 2004. The items for this quest do not have a 100% drop rate, and if your entire party is doing the quest, you need 40 of them. I only got 3 out of 8 in a run I did recently.

Going off what the above poster said..I believe the behavior for this quest is actually bugged.

As stated you need 8 and they are not 100% drop rate and can only be looted from bodies designated to you for looting proposes. In almost every other dungeon quest that requires the collection of X number of numbers dropped from mobs the drop rate is either 100% or the item can be looted no matter whom the body's loot is tapped too (See 'The Blood is Life' in Hellfire)

Since the other item-gathering quest in Blackfathom Deeps functions differently (100% drop rate), I have to assume this one is broken. It currently takes 2-3 runs of the dungeon to complete.

I discovered something interesting today. The non-elite naga ( Blackfathom Tide Priestesses ) in the tunnels outside of the instance drop the brain stems required for this quest as well. I was quite easily able to get the stems I needed in about 5 minutes time. This should help those of you who have not gotten enough from the actual instance itself.

Does not count towards Ashenvale Quests. Neither do the dungeon quests you see near the NPC you complete this quest at (I did them all and checked if they do).

Annoying quest. I believe you can't loot ANY brain stems until all of your party members have an equal amount. Thank god for being able to kill non-elites outside the instance for the brain stems; I would have gone crazy inside that instance otherwise. Although, it is a pain in the ass getting to the actual instance location in Ashenvale as an level 20-30 EK Alliance... well, not really. :P

Description

Foolish blood elves toil with demonic magic. Have they not witnessed what happened with the naga and with the satyrs of Kalimdor?

I fear that the blood elves will meet a similar deformation. Azeroth cannot afford to give birth to another vile race of monsters.

I wish to study the brain stems of the satyr and naga so that I might deduce what fate the sin'dorei are headed toward. Try to avoid harming the stems while you kill them, I won't take anything but perfect specimens.
